3 Ways We Are Improving Our Lives

I feel like we are all constantly looking for ways to improve our lives. Maybe you are looking to exercise more, feel healthier, get more sleep, whatever it may be. I feel like life is pretty great right now, so I wanted to find a few simple things we can do to make ourselves feel a little bit better. The three ways we are improving our lives are not HUGE changes and are really things anyone can do to better themselves.

3-Ways-We-Are-Improving-Our-Lives_O

Getting More Sleep: Andrew and I are AWFUL about going to bed at a reasonable time. We have every intention of being asleep by 10pm, but then we get in bed and turn on the TV and you know where that leads you… DVR catch up. So of course 11pm rolls around and then 12am, and we realize we have to be up in less than six hours. Then the next morning we swear we won’t do it again, but lo and behold we do. Having a routine of getting to sleep at the same time every night is so important. Our bodies naturally wake up around the same time every day, so even if we go to bed much later our internal clocks still wake us at 6 freaking o’clock! So getting more sleep and getting to sleep earlier is a huge goal of ours.

Water With Lemon/Water Filters: The lemon water is really more of a me thing, but we are both always trying to drink more water. Andrew actually uses an app on his phone called Water Drink Reminder where it tells you how much water you should drink a day, then reminds you throughout the day. It’s pretty cool! We are also on a mission to use less bottled water and more tap water. One way to make sure you are getting quality water is using a Brita pitcher. I recently stopped by Albertsons while running errands on a mission to find a new Brita container and pick up some filters. The guy that helped me find it was super nice. I had never been to this grocery store before and everyone was very helpful. I couldn’t wait to take it out of the box and fill it up. We keep it in our fridge and fill it up every day.

It’s pretty easy to use and very price friendly. Also drinking more water with lemon which I mentioned earlier is something I’ve been working on. There are many benefits to lemon water. Some include: aiding digestion, giving your immune system a boost, cleansing your system, reducing inflammation, keeping your skin clear, and helping you lose weight. I have half a lemon with water in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. I honestly love the taste.

Cute tumblers help too! Major bonus to using a Brita pitcher is the cost. With every sip, you are saving costs on water. The estimated annual cost for a Brita pitcher is $89 compared to $1,034 estimated annual costs of buying bottled water. Just think about what you could do with that extra 900 plus dollars!

More Time Outside: Texas can get REALLY hot in the spring and summer months. I’m not a huge fan of being outside later in the day, but mornings and evenings are perfect for walking on trails, biking, and going for runs. I am also a huge fan of swimming. We really try to get outside some every single day. Andrew is very into working in the yard and growing veggies in our garden. We also love going for walks together. On weekends we try to be outside as much as possible. My gym also has an amazing one mile trail looping through the entire area. Usually to start or end my workout I will loop it once or twice.

As you can see these three ways we are improving our lives are small changes anyone can make. I know in the long run these little things will really improve our quality of life and I look forward to continuing them!

Also, I am giving away ONE Brita pitcher to one reader! This is happening on my Twitter so make sure you head over there to see the tweet! No Purchase Necessary. Ends June 10, 2016 at 11:59 PM EDT. Subject to complete Official Rules .

What is one way you are improving your life?

  3. I’ve been trying to walk more, which also leads to being outside more. I workout almost every day, but sometimes it’s a yoga or pilates class, so I’m still itching to get some more steps in–I also have a few family members and friends on fitbit so I’ve gotta keep up with them!

We ar ebad at going to bed at a reasonable time as well. I love the evening hours, the quiet and the catching up on shows, but I have also noticed that the older I get, I really need my sleep. So we try to be better and go to bed by at least 10:30 pm. We have a Brita as well and we love it!

I try to drink at least 96 oz of water a day. Especially at work. I exercise as often as I can and I try to do my cleaning right after dinner while my boys play before bedtime so that when they are in bed I am up late trying to do last minute things that can most likely wait till the next day. I definitely need to get better sleeping habits.

  15. I’ve been adding lemon or lime to my water too because of I’ve heard it helps keep the body in an alkaline state, which is ideal for staving off disease. It’s really refreshing too!

Drinking at least one glass of lemon water a day is not new–my Grandmother would drink one WARM or HOT glass every day-she swore by it. I am drinking a lot of water lately as it seems to make my breathing easier and ease chest congestion. I also own and use a Brita!

  20. This was my list when we moved! Sleep has become extremely important these past few years compared to the years I could survive on 3-4 hours a night. We are focusing on our diet and eliminating processed food.

  23. Getting to bed early is still a struggle for us as a couple, but I found reading a chapter each night helps to quiet my mind and relax my body. I also started drinking more water, I like the idea of the Brita filter for all of your reasons, but also because its environmentally cautious too (no bottles to throw out)! I need to add being financially and physically fit to my list!

  30. You are making some positive changes to your life. One change I am trying to make is to be on social media less and to actually be social IRL. A little hard as a blogger, but I make it work. I used to use Brita pitchers all the time, I need to buy a new one .

Haha, I can relate to much about getting enough sleep situation. I do the same with my boyfriend every night. Then the next morning we also promise we won’t do it again, and it happens. It’s just a cycle. We need to work on that. And I love water with lemon as well. It’s a great way to stay hydrated and to do as a natural cleanse. Thanks for sharing.
