May Goals

HI_May-Goals

Already time for May goals? How is that even possible? I feel April was a pretty good month. I did a lot of things outside. I turned another year older. My dad and husband both also turned another year older. We spent a lot of time with our families. We did some fun things to our house and we celebrated being married for a year and a half! Let’s see how I did on my goals!

In April I wanted to:

  1. Read 8 books. I swear one of these months I will read 8 books. I did finally read 8 books this month. I just finished my 8th 2 nights ago. I plan to do an updated list of must reads soon!
  2. Spend more time outside going for walks and jogs. Yes I spent a TON of time outside this month. Lots of trail walks, lots of time working on our porch swing. The weather has been lovely.
  3. Submit writings to new publications I’ve wanted to write for. Nope I did not do this.
  4. Write one personal blog post. Nope. Ugh. Maybe next month. There are things I really want to write about but I’m having a hard time getting the courage.
  5. Have non-birthday date nights with Andrew, at least 2! We went to see Wicked! So fun. We need a frozen yogurt date soon!
  6. Spend less time on my phone at night. Yes. We have both been so much better about this.
  7. Care less about what people think. Can’t we all work on this? This is just a work in progress constantly.
  8. Cut myself some slack when I need to. Another work in progress but I feel like I was better this month.

Now let’s see what I would like to do in May.

In May I want to:

  1. Read 8 books. Let’s keep it going!
  2. Try a new workout. Bonus if it’s an in the water workout!
  3. Do something nice for a stranger.
  4. Surprise Andrew with something.
  5. Keep flowers alive for more than 10 days. This is really wishful thinking.
  6. Cook something new to me.
  7. Eat more veggies, less crap.
  8. Continue to focus more on needs, less wants.

I would love to know what some of your May goals are! Tell me in the comments.

  1. I love your list, especially more needs, less wants. I’ve been working on this one too. I’ve been getting rid of tons of junk I don’t use anymore… clothes, shoes, papers, you name it. I’d rather have a few things I really need and use than a bunch of stuff everywhere. Great goals. xo

I am impressed with the fact you have read 8 books and want to continue. How do you find the time? I’ve moved to the point where I’m often reading two books at a time but I typically end up with one. As for writing a personal post, just take the leap. You will find support and love and it always helps someone else (that would work on another May goal). Happy May.

  3. I actually read a couple of books in April, something I haven’t allowed myself to take the time to do in a while. It felt good.

Haha, ‘keep flowers alive for more than 10 days’, that’s really funny!!
    Hm, my goals:
I want to do more outdoor activities
    3 x week 1h running (for the moment it’s only 1 or 2 times)
And start ironing more. I really hate that and it always piles up!

    Love x

Good job with your goals! I’m not sure keeping flowers alive for more than 10 days is a realistic goal lol, especially if you’re talking about cut flowers. You can get liquid food for them and whatnot, but I’ve never seen a bouquet last more than a week. Or maybe that’s just because no one in my family has much of a green thumb except my dad, and he’s more the grow-your-own-veg type.

The summer is the only time I can really read actual books; it’s the only time the kids keep themselves busy lol. I probably go through about 10 audiobooks per month though, that counts, right? 🙂 Great goals. I should set a goal list.

Yay to reading 8 books!! I commit to reading one and still have only finished… one. Yikes! I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to keeping things alive for longer than a few days… I buy plants then forget to water them. There needs to be an app for that I swear!

  24. Your goals for May seem so fun! I started a gluten-free diet in the middle of last month and love it so far! I actually have a lot more energy and am much happier! So this month, I feel like I will be able to double my blog posts from last month [because I was slacking], and work in my garden better [it’s time for the weeds to go!]. I am new to goal setting, so I am starting small. Congrats of finally reading 8 books in a month! That is incredible!

Great goals! I’m jealous that you got to spend so much time outside last month.. it’s been raining and cold here in Toronto for ages.
One of my goals for May is to get my bike tuned up and start riding to work. This requires an extra level of commitment for me because I can’t bike in my work clothes. But I’m going to push myself to pack them the night before (with accessories and everything) so that I can bike and change when I arrive. I’m hoping I can be organized enough because I really want the extra exercise!

Love your goals! I too am trying to read more, I think I ended up reading four books in April which isn’t too shabby since I’m at college (why is reading while at school so tedious?!). I love that you want to do something nice for a stranger – sometimes I’ll pay for their coffee in the morning! Easy and makes them happy!

  28. Adulting is hard but your goals are awesome! I’m so with you on eat more veggies, less crap and focus more on needs instead of wants. We’re buckling down on spending so it’s time to really think about needs vs. wants. It’s hard but I feel like it’s so rewarding in the long run! Good luck on your goals this month. You can do it!

  32. I definitely wouldn’t be able to read 8 books per month, but I’m trying really hard to get back into reading! I go through phases where I’ll sometimes read a lot, and other times won’t read at all for months at a time.

There is nothing easier or nicer than a random act of kindness—even if it’s as simple as letting an overwhelmed mom with several unruly kids take “cuts” ahead of you at the grocery store. Do onto others as you would have them do onto you, though that is a rare thing indeed.

  34. You are the second blogger I’ve made a connection with recently that writes monthly goals. I LOVEEEEE that idea! If you don’t mind me saying maybe make your goals a little more specific and it’ll be easier to say YES done or NOPE try again next month. Not that I don’t love the “work in progress” ones either though! Best of luck to May’s goals!!!

Great job on accomplishing your goals last month! I saw Wicked a few years ago in NYC and I loved it. It was really cute! I wish I could read at least one book in a month. I am proud that I made it to chapter three of Leave Your Mark. That’s a start! I have also been trying to eat more veggies and less junk. Good luck on your goals this month!
