How I Am Spending Earth Day

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom’s of Maine for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

OK friends, today I want to talk about something that has always been very very important to me: our planet. Earth Day is right around the corner (errr tomorrow), and I want to discuss some things I am personally doing that either help the planet or help us!

Toms-0

1. Recyclable mugs/tumblers: There is really no need to make extra waste. My husband and I have a water filter and anytime I drink water (which is all day long) I have a tumbler with me. I carry it when I go places and just around our house. What’s great is that I am not using plastic bottles of water every single time I want water and this really helps the environment. I also try to make coffee at home more often and use one of my MANY cute coffee tumblers.

2. Using products that are MADE TO MATTER: The Toms of Maine Luminous White toothpaste and Wicked Cool! deodorant are two products I recently picked up on one of my occasional errrr daily Target trips. The Luminous White Toothpaste is their most advanced natural whitening toothpaste that is safe for enamel, and is gluten and paraben free. I am all about the paraben free products. They are just better for you! The Wicked Cool deodorant is the first natural deodorant made just for boys and girls, providing 24-hour odor protection and free of aluminum, parabens, and artificial fragrances. There is also the North Woods Men’s antiperspirant, but last time I checked I was a female so I just stuck to the other two 😉 I used the cartwheel offer (anytime I can use cartwheel it’s a good day) to snag a few coupons for the products as well. I am a huge fan of Toms of Maine, and the Made to Matter collection is ONLY available at Target.

3. Spending more time outside: I love me a good book and some reality TV, but time outside is where it’s at. This Earth Day I encourage you to spend more time outside really appreciating what our planet has to offer. Maybe that’s going to a local park, going for a hike or a bike ride, or just sitting outside and taking it all in. Here in Texas, it will be 100 degrees before we know it so I am soaking up this amazing weather while I can.

How do you plan to spend Earth Day?

Love that you mentioned using recyclables. We do that in our home. As for Tom’s of Maine deodorant, it’s the only one that works for me. I never knew what was wrong with my underarms, and after having kids, my hormones went crazy!

Using Tom’s of Maine has helped me regain my confidence, and allows me to stay fresh all day. Who knew a deodorant could actually make you feel this way! ?

Short and sweet. Loved this post. I’m always trying to be more environmentally conscious by how I eat (mostly plant based), bringing my own bags to the grocery store instead of using plastic, and using earth friendly products. Thanks for bringing awareness to Earth Day! 🙂

I try to be as green as possible and teach my kids about the importance of recycling, and taking care of our planet. We planted some veggie and flower seeds on monday so hopefully they’ll start sporting soon!

It is so important to use earth friendly products, to recycle, to re-use, to be more conscious with water (don’t let it run while brushing your teeth or applying shampoo in the shower), bring your own bags to the grocery store, no more paper plates or plastic cups and so on!

  10. We’ve tried Tom’s toothpaste in the past. I didn’t realize (or forgot) that they also made deodorant.

Earth Day, coming to you from the future <3 it's here and happening already, we're almost 15 hours in now!

On the level though, we try and live every day as Earth Day here. Not in a room? No lights on. Stuffy inside? Open a window. Is there still daylight? Keep the blinds open. Can we cook those veges instead of throwing them? No wasted food. And so on, and so forth.

We do have First Seder at my mother-in-law's tonight so we will have to drive across town, but it's not a full and proper Seder reading from the Torah until the small hours, and being that she's progressive, we will be turning off lights etc. when not in use. There will possibly be too much food (definitely a European thing) but I know that some will get sent home with us and she and her home-stay students will eat it tomorrow.

Right now though, I'm sitting at my desk, looking out the window, listening to the helicopters and aeroplanes fly overhead, and watching the cars whiz up our street. Other than the distinct whir of my computer and the audible tones of the cars and planes, I sit in silence, wondering what other people are doing to help preserve our planet.

Earth Day is really important to participate. Tom’s Of Maine sounds like a great product. I think I need to add that on my grocery list. I love the idea of spending our time outside because kids these days are really addicted in gadgets. Thanks!

I’m going to be doing some spring readiness with the lawn today. I can see lots of thatch that needs raking up, for instance.

  18. Great ideas! We didn’t have any specific plans for Earth Day, but it WAS recycle day in our neighborhood, and we are now the proud owners of THREE recycle bins that are normally full – so that counts! We’ve really tried to build our lives around energy efficient things and live as green as possible!
