2017 Goals Check In

Hey friends! We are a little over half way through this year which is CRAZY! It’s going by so fast and hard to believe my little baby will be 6 months old soon! I wanted to do a check in on my 2017 goals and see how I am doing! So it’s time for a 2017 goals check in post!

2017 Goals Check In

In 2017 I wanted to:

  • Read 50 books. I think I have read not even half this many. Granted the first few months with a new baby it was tough and now that Liam is more scheduled and sleeps all night I can read a lot more.
  • Continue to blog full time. Yes scheduling all those posts in advance was A GREAT IDEA!
  • Lose baby weight in a healthy way and keep up with it. I have lost all the baby weight and hopefully will lost the other 15 lbs I gained post wedding too!
  • Focus on health more than a number and make sure we are all eating healthy. This is hard because I see the number. But I do try to focus more on how my clothes fit and how I feel rather than the number.
  • Spend quality time with Andrew and really focus on our relationship. This has been a lot easier now that Liam sleeps more. We are trying to have more date nights, but we hate being away from our little guy!
  • Go on at least 2 trips with Andrew and baby boy. We have been to Houston, and the lake and are going to Chicago next month! Hopefully one more before the end of the year.
  • Get a few house projects done that we’ve been wanting to do. We have done some minor things like tinting upstairs windows, organizing etc. I really want to stain our kitchen cabinets at some point!
  • Continue to be more financially aware of spending. YES! Babies are expensive so I have noticed a shift in our spending from stuff for us to stuff for him. Trying to be more mindful of wants and needs.

All in all I think I am doing well. I would like to read more books and have more dates with Andrew. I think those are the two areas I want to focus the most from this list in the second half of the year.

Did you make any 2017 goals?

I can totally relate with spending for babies. His needs first before ours. We used to shop mindlessly and eat out whenever, wherever we want but after having the baby, we’ve become more mindful of our spending and prefers to cook and eat at home to save. Aaah! Adult life 😀

  2. I think it’s so hard to focus on how your clothes fit and how you feel and not the number, in regards to fitness. It’s something we all struggle with everyday, so remember not to beat yourself up over it. As long as you’re trying your best! 🙂

Yay for a Chicago trip! Make sure you get some deep dish while you’re here. Pretty sure pizza is a vegetable, too so it should worth with your healthy eating. 🙂

  8. 2017 has been a blur. It’s gone by so fast!
I’m planning goals for 2018, especially when it comes to travel for our family.
My husband and I haven’t had a kid-free trip longer than one night since we’ve been married. We’re long overdue.

I wish I had written down goals like this at the beginning of the year, but even though I didn’t write them down-I did and do have a few running ones in my head at all times. The biggest one of those is being more financially aware (not necessarily budgeting, but definitely being extremely careful with our money) and I am so proud to say that we have done very well with that so far in 2017!

  19. This post is so inspiring! You are killing those goals! You give me a lot of hope–I’m due with our first baby in three weeks, and nervous about what life will look like after baby. If I can accomplish half of what you’ve been able to–even with a newborn–then I’ll be happy!

  22. Love your goals and congrats on making so much progress with them! I’m also really working on my finances this year, and so far have done a decent job. I’m also doing date nights with my fiance, and they do take some effort to schedule, so I totally get how hey would be more difficult to do with a new baby! But it sounds like you’re doing a wonderful job balancing everything!

  23. Personally I love this. I love the one about blogging and reading. I have a goal to read around 50 books too, but it’s really hard with a toddler and a full time job. I have been trying a blogging schedule and I really love it, so I’m hoping to stick with this. I think it’s important to have goals and to see where you are at when the year is half over. Great post…can’t wait to read more. 🙂

Congrats on sticking with the goals you set, yes babies are expensive. I think I forgot just how much they cost though, it’s been almost 9 years now. Love that you keep writing about goals to ensure you check in and it helps keep you accountable and focused on them I am sure!

What has been your favorite book so far this year? I read so much for work that I find I rarely get time to read for pleasure. BUT…going to beach next month and I need recommendations. HELP! What have you read this year that you loved?
