As seasons start to change and as it gets a little cooler outside your health can take a toll for sure. That, mixed with school starting, schedules changing, and life becoming a wee bit more complicated. There are 5 things to do daily to stay healthy that will make these changes feel a little less stressful on your body.
5 Things To Do Daily To Stay Healthy
Drink Water: I have probably mentioned drinking water in 20 different blog posts. I used to not be a water drinker. In my teens and early 20’s I was a Dr Pepper drinker all day everyday. I would start my day with one and drink them all day long. In 2004 right before my 21st birthday I quit drinking Dr Pepper cold turkey. I started drinking water instead. The difference was insane. I lost almost 15 lbs in the span of 2 months and felt so great. I wasn’t sluggish and felt healthy. Water is a beautiful thing when you see what having enough of it can do to your body. Whenever I get a headache or feel a little meh I think “have I had enough water today?” If the answer is no, that’s usually what makes me feel better.
Sweat It Out: Just like water exercise is so important. I was pretty active as a kid, but in my adult years I have really found a love for exercise. It makes me feel good, even if it’s a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood or doing a quick ab workout while watching TV. Sweating at least once a day makes such a difference. You do not need a fancy gym membership or a ton of equipment. You can easily workout at home with no equipment. Find great at home workouts on Pinterest or go walk/run around your neighborhood. Just try to do something active every single day!
Get Your Greens: If you aren’t a veggie person this may be the hardest. But here is a trick. Make green smoothies! Add spinach/kale and then a ton of fruit. The best part is you only taste the fruit. It tastes like a sweet fruit smoothie and you are getting all of your servings of greens daily! I have been doing this for about 6.5 years every single day an it ensures me that I get my veggies even if I don’t have them any other times during the day.
Boost Your Immune System: When the weather changes and kids are back in school with all the germs, it seems like everyone is sick all the time. I carry Ricola Herbal Immunity drops with me everywhere. I keep them in my purse, my gym bag, my car, by my bed. Anytime I need one I have them. Ricola Herbal Immunity Honey Herb Lozenges and Ricola Herbal Immunity Citrus Herb Lozenges are both really good! The great news? Ricola Herbal Immunity products will be available early September in CVS, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid stores nationwide. If you are feeling run down or have bad allergies these are a lifesaver. Ricola Herbal Immunity harnesses the power of herbs, ginseng, and vitamins B6, B12 and C to boost immunity strength and fight fatigue which is what a lot of us feel during seasonal changes.
Go To Sleep: This is my biggest challenge. As much as I love sleep (who doesn’t?) I find it hard to unplug, put the book down, turn off my brain and just go to sleep. Seems easy right? Not for me! If you are like me here the things that have helped me just go to sleep: No screens for 30 minutes before, write out my to do list for the next day to decrease stress and turn off my brain and then have a routine. If you have a before bed nightly routine you kind of trick your body into understanding that it’s time for sleep.
These 5 things to do daily to stay healthy may seem pretty basic and pretty obvious but you’d be surprised by how many people let one or two or three of these things go when they are busy or aren’t feeling their best. That’s the exact time you should be doing these things! I hope these 5 things to do daily to stay healthy help you out and make the transition from summer to fall easy and fun!

Good to know that I’m on the right track. Thanks for sharing.
I DO ALLLLL OF THIS and then eat like 2 pounds of salmon a day too! hahaha!
I agree with you 100% especially the water. We do need to drink more of it and boost our body.
I drink a lot of water and do most of what you mention here. I haven’t purchased Ricola in a long time but I can still remember those commercials. 🙂
I am a big fan of Ricola for when I get larygitis (I am a teacher) so the immunity boosting ones will be great for me.
Great tips. I’m actively working on the water. I try to get at least 8-10 cups daily. It’s hard with my coffee obsession (addiction) though but I’m trying.
All great tips that seem so “duh” but really, people ignore most of these things. Right now, I’m working on adding as much water into my daily routine and going to bed by 11:30! It makes a huge difference in how I feel!
I am a big water drinker. In fact I have my 750mL water bottle with me right now. (It’s super easy to drink the 8 when you just need to fill up one jug 3 times!)
sleep and sweat are also big on my list. As for greens: I try to eat vegan twice a week. I’ve found it’s done wonders for my skin, energy, waistline and curving my habits towards eating more veggies on the other days!

These are all so important! Water is key for me, I drink mine with lemon wedges for some added flavor. I need to work on getting more sleep though!
Love these tips because they aren’t outlandish or impossible to achieve – they’re totally reasonable and doable (and also so important!). I think people have the mindset that they need to do these elaborate & extravagant things to get healthy when it really can be so simple 🙂
I am definitely going to have to try those Ricola drops! Right now I don’t do very much to stay healthy——bad Michele I know. I do drink lots of water and get as much sleep as I can–so I guess that counts.
Going to sleep i my biggest struggle as well. I find it so extremely hard to let go of the day and of my thoughts. Great post with some really helpful advice!
Whoa! Those drops sound like a great idea. My immune system usually doesn’t do as good of a job as I hope, so any extra immunity boost is a good thing!
I want to try those Ricola drops. Some things that I try to always do on a daily basis are meditating, finding joy, and gratitude. Those are more for mental health, but I feel that my mental health is just as important as physical health.
Considering I wrote how it sucks to be sick this week, this is coming a little late. Never too late though.
My daily workouts, whether it be running, hot yoga, or just a long walk, are some of the best moments for me mentally AND physically!
Yes! I agree 🙂 I workout six days a week currently and it makes me feel so much better!
These are all great ideas & easy to implement into a daily routine!
Great tips! I definitely do the water and exercise. Smoothies – I really need to start doing that more (especially now since summer is coming up here, sometimes a fruit smoothie is better when you’re not so hungry in the heat). I also try to do a 10 minute guided meditation as well – really helps to calm to mind and keep me focused on what I need to do for the day! 🙂
These are great tips! I used to drink Coke all day and quit cold turkey around age 21 and saw the same changes! It is amazing! I have found that putting a riccola cough drop in hot chamomile tea right before bed is a life saver if I’m ever starting to feel a scratchy throat.
yes, drinking more H2O! I like to infuse it with fruits and veggie to keep it exciting
I consistently forget to drink water – it’s awful! I need to get better about it ASAP.
Oh dear. I failed on all 5. I’m constantly reminded to drink water, I’m too lazy to exercise, I even stay up late (too late!) Dang something needs to change eh?? Let’s start with water. Baby steps I guess.
Drinking water is the best. I have started adding Crystal Light drops into mine sometimes to give it a little extra flavor. I need to ditch soda again – I was doing so well but got roped back in haha.

All such great things. I really need to get better about going to sleep at a more reasonable time!
During the fall/winter… Well let me honest all year around I take a dropper full of Elderberry Tincture. It helps so much! But definitely water and getting more sleep are super important as well.
wow! Really great tips here, I need to start drinking more water personally.
Drinking water is so important for so many reasons. I try to instill this in my boys all the time! (BTW I am totally singing the Riiiicccoooolllaaaaaaa in my head now LOL)
Definitely some excellent tips & I love the water one because sometimes I forget but it’s so important! xx Adaleta Avdic
I really need to start taking care of myself more. For me going to bed is a huge challenge. With my daughter with me all day I only have the chance to get things done at night.
I was just thinking about this topic this morning and, I was saying to a friend how important hydration is to our overall health.. Getting enough rest helps us stay on point too.
Drinking more water and hitting the gym have been HUGE for me. In March I eliminated soda from my diet and since then all I really drink is water (and coffee, of course). It’s crazy how much better you feel just by adding more water and exercise to your every day life.
