5 Things To Get You Ready For Halloween

I have always had a thing for holidays, and Halloween is no exception. Having a kiddo this year makes it even more fun! I know you are all probably just as excited for Halloween as I am, so I wanted to share 5 things to get your ready for Halloween!

5 Things To Get You Ready For Halloween

Stock Up On Candy: I mean this is the most obvious right? You have to have a good stash of candy! This is the 3rd Halloween we will be spending in our house, and the first year we were SO unprepared. Coming from the downtown area of Dallas we never had any trick or treaters. The first year we lived here we bought 2 jumbo bags and ran out in about an hour. Yeah we had over 250 kids come by and I started by giving each kid 3 pieces. Mistake! Last year we bought 4 BIG bags and only had a little left! Make sure you find the good stuff. We tend to buy candy we like because, one we can eat it while passing it out and because leftovers! We love the Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size ones! They are delicious and really get me in the Halloween spirit! We already put them in our trick or treat bucket and I may casually grab one every day haha! We also usually get a few of the Nestlé Jumbo Variety Bags. They always have something for everyone! If you are looking for a new candy this Halloween, for sure check out the NEW Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size with their one-of-kind limited edition bite-sized molded Skull shape. With their spooky skull mold, NEW Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size will be all the rage this year with classic Butterfinger crispety, crunchety, peanut-buttery flavor drenched in a smooth milk chocolate coating, making them the perfect Halloween treat or baking accessory this Halloween season. How good would these be in cookies?!? Found at retailers nationwide, Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size come individually wrapped in an 10.8oz laydown bag, with 18 Skulls which will make your house the best stop on the block! Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size are free of artificial flavors and colors. Nestlé also has a great selection of Jumbo Variety Bags that offer an incredible value for all of your favorite chocolate and sugar treats, from brands like Butterfinger, Nestlé Crunch, Baby Ruth, SweeTARTS, Nerds, & Laffy Taffy. So basically all the good stuff! Available at retailers nationwide, Nestlé’s Jumbo Variety Bags offer bag with piece counts as high as 450 pieces (if you, like us, need lots of candy for your kid filled neighborhood), and come in a variety of sizes and assortments of treats that will have the whole neighborhood shrieking for more.

Decorate: Aside from my pumpkin obsession taking over our front porch we have some fun light up pumpkins as well as a terrifying zombie ghost outside. Inside I go a little overboard as well. But there is so much you can do. Even candy makes for a great decorating help! I love having these Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls around. They look super cute in our trick or treat bucket at the bottom of our stairs and in mason jars!

Get Ready For Neighborhood Events: With so many neighborhood events living in a very tiny suburb, organizing them on our calendar has been nuts! Since going to a lot of them is new to us with a kiddo in tow I try to be as prepared as I can be. If you aren’t sure what to bring I highly suggest little bags of candy to hand out to friends and kids of your friends. The Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cup Skulls are perfect and kids really think they are funny (from my experience)! Also a great option are the All Treats, No Tricks Variety Bag which offers a mix of 450 pieces of Nestlé’s most classic sugar items. Brands include SweeTARTS, Nerds, Laffy Taffy and Bottlecaps, all of which are free from artificial flavors! Perfect to bring along!

Carve Your Pumpkins: It is tradition for us to carve our pumpkin on October 31st! We have just always done it this way. I tend to let Andrew do this because he’s better at it than I am but I am really good at watching haha! No I help too!

Find The Perfect Family Costume: We are dressing Liam up this year which is SO fun! I am trying to think of a way to incorporate Andrew and I with his costume! I will keep you guys updated!

What are some Things To Get You Ready For Halloween that you do?

  1. I wish Halloween here was like that in the States! It seems so fun and the atmosphere sounds great. I’ve never carved a pumpkin before, and there’s basically no tradition trick-or-treating here. It’s all just… clubbing. LOL.

Sadly we get no trick or treaters here at our house. Zero! I buy candy and carve the pumpkins, but it’s all for ME 🙂

Do you have any suggestions or perhaps even checklists for Halloween Parties or Events, like how to set them up, or a schedule for preparing them, or fun activities for adults and/or kids?

Glad to see that the focus is on spookiness! Often in the US dressing up seems totally unspooky sometimes (hello, Disney princesses?) but these tips are great!

I made this mistake last year, too! My house is downtown and I didn’t get any trick or treaters. My fiancé’s house is in the suburbs. I bought a couple small bags of candy. When we ran out, I felt so bad! Then Joey went to get more, and on they way back stopped to get his car washed!! I was like, “This was an emergency! Not an errand run!” haha Poor kids though, that didn’t get any candy from us!

We just stocked up on candy, and purchased the last of our costumes yesterday! We’re doing one family costume theme (for a party) and on Halloween, my daughter’s costume will be a lot simpler. (Waiting to share all of our costume details!!)

  8. All great tips! I don’t really get a lot of trick or treaters at my house, but we do have a bit more kids than usual so I should definitely make sure to have some candy on hand. Those butterfingers are too fun!

This is the first year my husband and I are in a house in a neighborhood full of kids (our childhood homes didn’t get many trick or treaters), so we are super excited to hand out candy on Halloween this year! We will be sure to stock up, thanks for the suggestions!

Picking out our costumes always takes a lot of thinking LOL. So we better get that started. And we’ve yet to grab candy, dangerous to have those lying around in the house they won’t make it to Halloween!

  13. I have not bought any candy yet because we still have a bowl full from a parade at the beginning of September! I have put up my Halloween wreaths and lights! And my kiddos and I are busy making Halloween crafts together!

My kids are grown and way past that age of trick or treating. I guess they will just be home handing out candy to the little ones. We will be getting some chocolate and candy to hand out. I will look for that Butterfinger cups and get some to add to our stash. Thanks for the tips.

I need to start thinking about getting our candy. Although if I get it too soon it doesn’t last until Halloween! My kids are grown but we still get a ton of trick or treaters and we lover it. October is the best month. I love all of the festivities.
