9 Books To Empower You

I love sharing my favorite books with you guys and I get asked for recs ALL THE TIME! Today I am not exactly sharing new books, but a list of books to empower you that I truly believe every woman should read. These were all books I really loved and I think you will too!

9 Books To Empower You

I could NOT wait till Year Of Yes came out. I love Shonda and of course I had this preordered and devoured it immediately. I am not a huge yes person. I tend to find a reason to not do things out of my comfort zone a lot. This book is great if you are like me at all.

I feel like as much as I don’t love the phrase “girl boss” because why is a Girl Boss any different from a boss? I do love this book. I find her story really interesting, and fun fact there’s a Netflix series to go along with it!

You Are A Badass is one of my favorite books. I also read You Are a Badass at Making Money which was awesome as well.

Big Magic is so wonderful. That would be my first read if you are to read anything on this list. Also there’s a podcast! Love me some Elizabeth Gilbert.

I saw Brene Brown speak at Blissdom and I was just in awe of her. Rising Strong is a wonderful read that I would tell anyone to read.

Lean In is a great book for women in business. A must read.

The Devil Wears Prada is a great fun book if you’ve ever been an intern or really anyone who has a crazy boss. Just a fun one!

I am that girl is a new one to me. I read it pretty quick and found it really enjoyable and inspiring.

I am a huge Emily Ley fan. I love her planners and have loved following her. Obviously I was excited to read Grace Not Perfection when it came out. I have read it twice and can’t wait for her next book!

I would love to know if there are any books to empower you that you would add?

I finally got around to reading Eat Pray Love, and I absolutely love Elizabeth Gilbert’s writing style. It’s so funny and relatable and I love how she explores the spiritual experiences. Now I’m excited to try the one you recommended!

I love your taste in books! I’ve read about half of those and agree completely that all women should read them and am currently adding the other half to my Amazon cart! I also loved How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran. It’s amazing, have you read it? I definitely recommend it!

  11. I have 2 of these books…big magic, haven’t read but loved the podcasts, listened to them over and over again, I have and I’m currently reading grace not perfection..taking notes because I love what she’s talking about. I’ve seen the tv show girl boss, loved it a lot, but haven’t read the book..and the others I’ve heard of but haven’t gotten the books. I love to read especially empowering books so eventually I will get some more. Great post though because these are some really amazing recommendations. 🙂

First, do you know if any of these books are written from a Christian perspective. I love the idea of woman empowerment as long as it doesn’t contradict God’s direction for our lives.
Second, I am a newly stay at home mom with a desire to bring in some extra income. I want to do more than what I am currently doing … do something with passion. Which book do you suggest I start with?

  22. I have quite a few of these on my nightstand. I’m so bad at finishing books but I find self help/empowering books to be ones I can read a couple pages and sit aside. Year of Yes sounds super interesting, especially since Shonda wrote it.

I have read several of these, and they’re awesome. I’ll have to check out the rest. I just finished the audiobook of You Are a Badass. I thought all of the hype was around the exciting name of the book or something, so I had low expectations. It was AMAZING!
