Date Nights

I feel like date nights are something I didn’t think a TON about before we had a baby. After all we could decide last minute to go out to eat or to a movie and didn’t need to think about a babysitter, bedtime routines, or making sure bottles were ready for the morning first.

Date Nights

December 1st, 2012 was when Andrew and I had our first date. So this past Friday was the 5 year anniversary of that. It seemed like a great time to plan a date night. We had our favorite babysitter booked, and plans to go to the restaurant we had our first date at and the wine bar we had our second date at.

The idea of actually putting on real clothes and makeup may be one of my favorite parts of date night. That and having a conversation with my husband over delicious food and wine!

Something that makes date nights stressful for some is the money. I mean babysitters, dinner, drinks, it adds up. With a long-term investing outlook you don’t have to stress. Vanguard is a community of investors with a shared focus on long-term planning instead of chasing short-term fads. Vanguard clients are 11% more likely to laugh with their partner compared with clients of other investment firms. Vanguard clients are 18% more likely to cuddle with their partner compared with clients of other investment firms. Vanguard clients are 14% more likely to make time for date night compared with clients of other investment firms. Those numbers are kind of staggering to me. Date nights are an essential part of marriage and to me you have to have a good marriage to be good parents. Enjoying a date night shouldn’t feel like you are sacrificing financial security. It shouldn’t strain you. So investing helps curb that stress. You know your future is in good hands so you can enjoy the present.

For our date night we headed to Gloria’s where we had our first date and enjoyed some drinks, delicious Ceviche, and amazing dinner. Then we walked over to Mercy Wine Bar where we had our second date and watched some live music and enjoyed a glass of wine together. It was special to us and we got to chat, enjoy ourselves, and spend good quality time together. December 1st is always a special day and I’m glad we got to do something to celebrate it!

A few other things to note:  Vanguard clients are 11% more likely to feel empowered overall since investing compared with clients of other investment firms. Vanguard clients are 32% more likely to feel excited when checking investments compared with clients of other investment firms. Don’t you want to get excited about this too?

I invite you to explore what makes Vanguard investors different, and see if Vanguard is a place for you.

The Where Investors Belong survey was conducted by market research firm Kelton Global in 2016. It polled 1,000 Vanguard clients and compared them with 1,000 clients of other investment firms. All differences between Vanguard clients and clients of other investment firms are statistically significant at the 95% confidence level. The parental stat refers to clients with children of any age who provided the number of hours per week they typically spend with their children or who, compared to other people they may know, believe to be more involved in their child’s life. . The experiences of these Vanguard clients may not be representative of the experience of other Vanguard clients and aren’t a guarantee of future investment performance or success.

Congrats on 5 years! I know it can be hard to find time to go out as a couple once kids are in the picture, but it is so important! Glad you got to do something special!

Date nights are so important, particularly if you’ve been together for a long time it’s great to take some time away from the day-to-day routine and focus on each other.

  7. My husband and I rarely go out at night anymore. His work schedule and the kids sports schedule is insane. We usually end up going out for breakfast or lunch once a week while the kids are at school on his days off. We end up going out more often this way, no babysitter necessary.

Date nights are so important, so I’m thankful we’ve got one planned for Friday night. My parents live close by so it’s not really all that hard to get it arranged, but I don’t want to wear them down.

Awww, this sounds like a lovely date with your love! This totally inspired me to plan a date night with my hubs that can recreate our first date. We don’t live in the same city as we did when we started dating, but next time we’re there…it’s going down!!

Congrats on 5 years together. Anniversaries are exciting. It is so nice you can revisit the locations from your first dates. The theatre and bar from our first date are long gone so we can’t really do that. It looks like you had a nice night out.
