A Little Coffee Date

Here we are a mere days away from the arrival of our little boy. It’s really crazy that any time I post I feel like it could be my last pre-baby post. Today I have a little coffee date post. These are some of my favorite posts to read and write.

A Little Coffee Date….

If we were on a little coffee date I would for sure be ordering a venti because I am so tired. No matter how much I sleep. I guess carrying around a full grown baby will do that. Plus I’ve been SUPER sick since Friday with a sinus infection and that is also hindering sleep 🙁

I would also first ask you what your order is? I should get up and get it, I need to keep moving, plus treating your friends is always nice!

I would ask if you have any suggestions for shows to watch because I am about to become a binge watching fool. What have you been watching? If you haven’t seen The Crown yet I highly highly suggest it!

I would tell you that I am soooo ready to not be pregnant. I am grateful for this pregnancy, but I am really ready to have my body back. Someday.

Have you gone through any body struggles? Pregnancy or not?

I would also tell you that I really hope I don’t end up having a c-section because I really want my recovery to be minimal.

I would ask you if you are ready for the warmer months? It’s funny when it’s hot I want it cold and when it’s cold I am ready for warm weather. NOT hot weather, just like 60 degrees would be great. It’s warm here today, but it looks like it isn’t lasting very long.

What are you reading? I need some books to keep my mind occupied so I am not constantly thinking about all the things that could go wrong. I recently read a really cute book called Opening Belle. It was a quick read but so fun!

I would confess that I am terrified to be a mom, but so excited at the same time. That seems pretty normal.

I would probably have to pee 30 times during our coffee date. I’m sorry I can’t help it!

What would we chat about on our coffee date?

  1. Ahhh, I’m torn whether to start The Crown or not. On one hand, I’m looking for a new show to watch, on the other, I don’t want to get obsessed!

The weeks leading up to baby were full of so many feelings! Definitely not being pregnant was a big one haha! I need a good book to read also! The last great one I read last year was It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover.

I can picture us having coffee now…two pregnant women in their third trimester taking turns getting up to go to the bathroom. (I had to go three times during an hour and a half faculty meeting yesterday, so…)

You are not alone with the body struggles during pregnancy. And I won’t lie…the first few months postpartum are tough for me, too. Just know there will be a time when your body is fully your own again, and you’ll recognize yourself in pictures and the mirror and you’ll feel even better and stronger than before.

Yes! Post-baby is the perfect time to binge watch shows. We are currently devouring Blue Bloods.

We’ve been watching some great shows on Netflix- My crazy ex girlfriend was fun and anything by the BBC. I’m in Scotland so our Netflix has different content but if you can find Luther, Silent Witness or LoveSick I highly recommend any of them. You’ll be an awesome Mum- don’t doubt yourself!

  6. If we were to have a coffee date, I’d hope it’d be at Starbucks because, man I miss that place.
If we were to have a coffee date, I’d probably offer to pay because I have piles of gift cards stored on my Starbucks app and rarely get to use them since the closest one is 60 miles away!
If we were to have a coffee date, I’d probably want a Venti latte, but I’d stick to my Venti coffee because I need to save ALL my Weight Watchers points for wine!
If we were to have coffee, I’d apologize for talking about wine because I’m sure you’re craving a glass!

  10. Have you see The West Wing? Or all of Chef’s Table? My go-to drink lately is an iced latte with one pump of mocha and one pump of peppermint (or vanilla). It’s indulgent without being too indulgent.

I had a c-section and honestly my recovery was pretty quick (the first two weeks were rough, but they are rough on most). It is surgery but I know plenty of women who had vaginal births and long recoveries. 😉 I think one’s health prior to delivery has a lot to do with their recovery.

I remember the anticipation so well. It’s such an exciting time!

I would gladly discuss pregnany, and C-section vs Vaginal. I happened to have both, my C-section was my first so I was able to have a VBAC the second time around. I would let you know even if you do have a c-section, there is stil hope for a VBAC, even if many say that it isn’t so. I have my whole story here https://www.thecoffeemom.net/2016/12/14/vbac-success-story/

  12. I love virtual coffee dates! A venti would be much needed right now. Being pregnant is hard but so so worth it. That sweet baby boy will be so loved! I’m excited for you. It is normal to be worried about being a good mama but I have no doubt you’ll be the best!

I’ve been loving the warm weather we’ve had lately has been great, I just wish the rain would stop so I could get outside and enjoy it! I’m so far behind on tv shows. I’m currently binge watching Gilmore Girls!

I hoe you are having a lovely Tuesday!

Baby is almost here! I feel like it was just yesterday you announced you were preggers 🙂 So exciting!

Hmm… I’ve been reading two books by Emily Liebert lately and I’m LOVING her writing style. It’s really light reading, but what I love most is that it explores female dynamics and friendships. If you’ve ever read anything by Liane Moriarty (hope I’m getting the name right!) you would probably like her style 🙂

Shows… hmm… have you seen Stranger Things? SO GOOD! The Affair, This Is Us, and Divorce are others I’ve really enjoyed lately 🙂 XOXO

  14. I loved the Crown. Just binged on Versailles which is also on Netflix. SO GOOD. I never enjoyed pregnancy. I am open to more kids, but this body will never bear a child again; I get it, and it’s okay to want to be done. It’s also okay that you feel excited AND terrified. Don’t worry about C-section recovery; it’s not as bad as it seems. Sometimes (especially with first births) it can be easier than vaginal! Also… I’m not pregnant and probably would have peed 15 times during a coffee date ; )

Thans for getting me hot chocolate 🙂 I’m currently binge watching Mad Men. I know, so 5 years ago right? But it’ll do while I’m waiting for season 2 of Stranger Things. Do you watch This is us? I love that show! Get ready for all the feels. I gotta go but I’m sending you good vibes! These are exciting times, waiting to meet your baby 🙂

This made me smile Neely! I’m not even pregnant and I could use a Venti coffee right now as well. Staring at a computer screen for 9 hours a day will do that to you. Ahh! I have struggled with body issues lots of times. Some days I feel really skinny and other days…not so much. I also have been in the best shape of my life and in the worst shape. I think it happens to all of us. You’re so close to having that baby boy!!! I heard that Girl In Pieces was a really good book. I have not read it yet though. I am currently reading Big Little Lies.

This is exciting. I can’t wait to meet your lil baby too. The end of pregnancy is the toughest, because of all of the changes going on towards the end. You can’t sleep and have to go to the bathroom a ton of times to just have only a few drops. Remember those days.

I would tell you don’t worry about vaginal vs c-section birth! All that matters is the health of your baby, so you do what you gotta do to get them out, but nature doesn’t always cooperate. I’ve had two c-sections, and I am thankful we live in a world where that is possible because neither my daughter nor I would have survived the first pregnancy without it 🙂 Best of luck, enjoy the sleep while you can get it! (and I TOTALLY understand the “ready not to be pregnant anymore” thing, omg)

  27. Oh, I need to watch The Crown the soonest. My friend, who I trust with good taste, raved about it.
It must be exciting to be anticipating your bundle of joy.
If we have a coffee date, we’d be doing some art. Hopefully, something to put on the walls in your baby’s room.

Parenting is such hard work but it is so rewarding and amazing ♥ You are going to do absolutely amazing! I would recommend The Blacklist (we are binge-watching the heck out of it). I wrote a blog post recently on some of my recent reads if you are interested?

  36. Our coffee date would be all about the upcoming arrival of your little bundle! I can tell you as a 3x c-section survivor, they really aren’t that bad. As much as I wanted to have a vaginal birth and feel labor pains and all (yes, a lot of women I know think I”m nuts), my experiences with c-sections were pretty easy.
Congrats on being a mommy soon!
