Perspective

I think it’s pretty easy this time of year to get wrapped up (no pun intended) in the gifts. What are WE getting, what can WE give to people who already have everything? But what about those people who are doing everything they can but are still struggling? I was given an amazing opportunity with Pampers to find a family through a charity of my choice to help this season. I worked with The Family Place, an organization in Dallas that helps women trying to escape abusive relationships. The woman I helped is a young mother to three children, with a baby on the way in February.

Her story really spoke to me. She is the victim of some really unthinkable violence and wants the best life for her babies. She is working and trying to go to school all while caring for her young children. She’s in transitional housing, so this baby on the way brings a lot of stresses. She really had nothing for her new baby girl. So with Pampers help I was able to get her completely set up. I won’t list every single item, but we purchased enough diapers and wipes for not only the new baby but also her 2 year old boy! Also a pack n play, car seat and stroller, bath tub, high chair, play mat, tons of baby girl clothes, pacifiers, bath soap, blankets, towels, bibs, toys, as well as toys and clothes for the older children for Christmas, and something for her! Here is a little preview of what all she was gifted:

I can’t explain how much I enjoyed being able to do this. The amount of perspective this gave me this holiday season was inexplainable. It really renewed my feelings of how grateful and blessed so many of us are and how much we take for granted. I look around and see how many toys, clothes, and items my little baby boy has and it breaks my heart to think of him going without the basics. This family will have an amazing Christmas and the amount of stress that has been lifted from this woman I can’t even imagine. I can’t thank Pampers enough for allowing me this opportunity and for helping out! It really gives you a little perspective on how good we all have it.

Pampers provided me with the funds to fulfill this opportunity. Thank you for supporting the brands that support It Starts With Coffee and make such a difference in others lives.

  3. While the holidays are mostly joyous, it can be a stressful time for unfortunate families. There was a big apartment fire nearby this week and I can’t imagine what those families are feeling to be displaced right after Christmas.
I’m glad Pampers partnered with you.

That is so awesome! Once you’ve seen what other people don’t have, it really changes your perspective on everything. I have been blessed to be able to participate in our office’s adopt a family last Christmas! The families requested for their needs and wants and we are to fulfill those. When I saw their requests, it broke my heart. It made me realize how blessed our family truly is.

Reading your post made me teary-eyed. I could feel the overflowing of love between you and the young mom. How careless of us to take things for granted when there are others struggling to get through every day. Thank you for sharing this story. Thank you Pampers for providing the necessities to welcome a new baby girl into this world.
