Recent Reads For Winter

I have had a lot more time on my hands to read lately. My daily life is a lot more relaxed as both my husband and Dr have told me to slow down. So in the last couple of months I have read some really awesome books. Also a few that were OK but probably won’t get a reread. Today I am sharing my recent reads for winter. Just in case you need to grab some books to curl up with!

Recent Reads For Winter

I could NOT wait to get my hands on Lauren Graham’s new book, Talking Just As Fast As I Can. I preordered it months ago and was super pumped to have it automatically load on my iPad. The wonders of modern technology! It was every bit as amazing as I had hoped. I could not put it down and I loved her anecdotes about Gilmore Girls and Parenthood.

On the same subject, I also read Anna Kendrick’s book, Scrappy Little Nobody and Trevor Noah’s book, Born a Crime. Both were so great. If you like the people you’ll love the books.

Everyone told me to read, The Couple Next Door. So I read it. Was I impressed? Eh. It was OK. Not a book I would read again. It was interesting and kept me hooked, but I didn’t think about it after the way I do with a lot of books.

I read two of Emily Liebert’s books and really enjoyed both. I am not sure how I stumbled upon her, but I am guessing in my way of getting lost in the Kindle store on Amazon. Some Women was SO GOOD! Seriously perfect for curling up on the couch with. You Knew Me When was a book I had a friend tell me about a long time ago and only remembered once I had started reading it. I loved it!

Everything’s Relative was a book I laughed out loud so many times at. While I enjoyed it I don’t know if it’s one I would read again but I would recommend it!

The Parent Trip was funny and something I would recommend to anyone who is pregnant!

Today Will Be Different is by the same author as Where’d You Go Bernadette, so if you liked that book you will really like this one. I actually like this one a lot more.

So these are my recent reads for winter. I have so many books on my to-read list that I have a feeling another round up like this is coming up soon!

What have you read recently?

  1. Thanks for the list! Today Will Be Different has such a wacky cover, I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its aesthetics but… I’m going to check it out!

  2. This year my focus in on nonfiction, specifically books about personal finance. In 2015 my hubby paid off $86K in debt, and in 2016 we saved for a house (we’re closing next month!). So it’s my year to get money right. 🙂

Great list! I haven’t read any of these yet- though the Trevor Noah book is on my list. I’m starting to build up a pile for the PopSugar 2017 Reading Challenge – I love that it pushes me out of my normal reading comfort zone.

  22. I am always impressed with the amount of books you read each month. I used to love to read and used to make time for it, but ever since I went to college, I just stopped. That cycle started 7 years ago… time to break it!

I’ve never heard of Emily Liebert before–but I’ve added both of those books to my reading list for 2017 🙂 I’ve heard great things about Lauren Graham’s book… but I’ve never seen Gilmore Girls (I KNOW! It’s on my list of to-dos this winter). BUT I ADORED her in Parenthood, so wondering if I should wait to read or start to see what she says about my pretend bf Peter Krause (weren’t they together for awhile??).

XOXO and hope you have a very Happy New Year!

I managed to read approx 140 books this year–most if not all of them had redeeming factors and some I just loved!! My absolute favorite gender is historical romance but I didn’t read too many of them this year–also love cozies that feature cats and dogs–and just give me a medical mystery thriller—-or any mystery thriller for that matter and I am in heaven.
