So as I mentioned in my diagnosis post one of the things I have to do was add certain workouts to my workout regimen. These include back exercises to strengthen my back, different core workouts to add to what I already do for my core, extra leg workouts like ball squats and leg lifts to strengthen my legs more and arm workouts with 3 lb weights.
Honestly when he told me about the 3 lb weights I thought….well crap I can do 3 lb weights in my sleep. But the workouts and reps he has me doing make the 3 lb weights SO HARD! I am not kidding you 3 pound weights are No Joke! Andrew and the physical therapist tells me it’s the reps and sets. I just think to myself clearly I have been working out wrong!
I thought I would share my 3 lb weight exercise with you guys. It really does make your arms burn!
I actually purchased the 3 lb weights so I could do this workout at home when need be. The days I do not mix it with cardio etc. They were super inexpensive and I love this workout. I really have seen great results so far!
Happy Exercising!
I understand completely! I have zero upper body strength and I workout with 3 to 5 lb. weights. haha It’s not easy!
3 pound weights are def no joke, esp when you use them the right way! I need to find mine and start doing something with them. I bought 5 pound weights and thought.. oh I can do this.. ha ha ha.. not with what Jillian Michaels wanted me to do with them. She’s tough.
I’m going to have to try this. I usually hop on the elliptical but I need to step it up a tad.
I totally agree! I do The Bar Method and we work with 2 and 3lb weights and I’m always surprised how sore I am! It’s all those reps!
I need to try these. My Hubby always laughs and says I have absolutely no muscle tone..I think 3lb weights would definitely be no joke for me either…LOL
I can imagine how hard those could be; when I was in the Air Force, we did all our workouts using our own body weight, so I would do these arm-raises and after 3 reps of 15, my shoulders would be buuuuuuurning. And I wasn’t even holding anything! Ha ha ha.
Im definitely going to try this. It’s such an easy fast workout with big impact. Thanks for the boost!
I have 3 lb weights also! You are absolutely correct- NO JOKE! If you use them correctly they can really work your muscles! I usually can barely pick up my son the next day after my arm workouts! lol Congrats on bettering your health <3
3 pound weights are perfect for getting a workout in at home. I really need to invest in some!
I use three pound weights frequently, because I don’t want to bulk up too much, I just want to tone. This is a great list that I’ll use for sure.
Don’t I know it. When I use them with Jillian Micheal’s workouts they KILL
Love your blog and totally doing this. Thank you!
I have some back problems, maybe this regiment will help.
This is AWESOME! I have to try to incorporate this when I get back to Italy – I always turn into a lump when fall comes!
I’ve used 3 lbs weights and felt the same way. They still get the job done.
OMG yes, they are no joke!! I go to barre classes where we use 2 and 3 pound weights and I feel like my arms are going to come off. I even have to drop the weights sometimes and just use my fists to pretend I am carrying weights!
I am so interested in adding weights to my workout routine, it’s never really been my thing but I’m trying to add it in a little bit at a time at the gym. I love that 3 lb weights can still make for a great work out – that’s good to know!!
I definitely need help in this area!
Anything you do in repetition can be really difficult. Even 3lb weights!! Go you!!
Light weights and lots of reps are so good for you! I’ve cut out weights during pregnancy but can’t wait to add them back in!
Totally with you here! The more reps you do the harder it gets. I hate it when people think of the smaller weights as girly.
I do something similar to this but my trainer has me using anywhere from 10-20 lbs weights depending on the day and exercise! It’s tough somedays :)!
I use 5 lb weights, but any weight is weight! It gets hard after a few reps! I am definitely gonna be trying some of these out with my 5 lbs! <3
Thanks for sharing! <3
Anytime you start a new workout regime, it usually has some difficulty. I will have to try out this with 3 pound weights I have laying around!
3 pound weights can be a serious killer! I had to go down two 1 pounders sometimes because I wanted to cry. Ha!
That’s funny, cuz I was literally just thinking about needed to work out my arms! I guess swimming is good for now, but I’ll keep this in mind just in case 🙂
I remember the overhead press, I suffered for my sins. I have a similar work-out plan when I feel like it lol.
I typically use 3 lbs weights and thought the other day I’d step it up and use 5 for my lower body workout (squats and lunges)… that was a huge mistake, I can barely walk. Back to 3s for me!
Girl I totally understand! I started with 3 pounds and was like I got this… and then I was like feeling the burn lol! You got this!
i totally hear ya! i use 5lb weights to just tone up and they are no joke at all!
I love using low weight and higher reps. I think it’s said to build leaner muscle.
When I use the weights I feel so weak! And 3 pounders are definitely NO JOKE! Those suckers are heavy and tough to use when you first start out!
