3 Pound Weights are No Joke

So as I mentioned in my diagnosis post  one of the things I have to do was add certain workouts to my workout regimen. These include back exercises to strengthen my back, different core workouts to add to what I already do for my core, extra leg workouts like ball squats and leg lifts to strengthen my legs more and arm workouts with 3 lb weights.

Honestly when he told me about the 3 lb weights I thought….well crap I can do 3 lb weights in my sleep. But the workouts and reps he has me doing make the 3 lb weights SO HARD! I am not kidding you 3 pound weights are No Joke! Andrew and the physical therapist tells me it’s the reps and sets. I just think to myself clearly I have been working out wrong!

I thought I would share my 3 lb weight exercise with you guys. It really does make your arms burn!

Workout

I actually purchased the 3 lb weights so I could do this workout at home when need be. The days I do not mix it with cardio etc. They were super inexpensive and I love this workout. I really have seen great results so far!

Happy Exercising!

  2. 3 pound weights are def no joke, esp when you use them the right way! I need to find mine and start doing something with them. I bought 5 pound weights and thought.. oh I can do this.. ha ha ha.. not with what Jillian Michaels wanted me to do with them. She’s tough.

  4. I totally agree! I do The Bar Method and we work with 2 and 3lb weights and I’m always surprised how sore I am! It’s all those reps!

I can imagine how hard those could be; when I was in the Air Force, we did all our workouts using our own body weight, so I would do these arm-raises and after 3 reps of 15, my shoulders would be buuuuuuurning. And I wasn’t even holding anything! Ha ha ha.

  10. I use three pound weights frequently, because I don’t want to bulk up too much, I just want to tone. This is a great list that I’ll use for sure.

OMG yes, they are no joke!! I go to barre classes where we use 2 and 3 pound weights and I feel like my arms are going to come off. I even have to drop the weights sometimes and just use my fists to pretend I am carrying weights!

I am so interested in adding weights to my workout routine, it’s never really been my thing but I’m trying to add it in a little bit at a time at the gym. I love that 3 lb weights can still make for a great work out – that’s good to know!!

  21. Totally with you here! The more reps you do the harder it gets. I hate it when people think of the smaller weights as girly.

I typically use 3 lbs weights and thought the other day I’d step it up and use 5 for my lower body workout (squats and lunges)… that was a huge mistake, I can barely walk. Back to 3s for me!
