1000th post…Well Sh*t

This is my 1000th blog post. That shit cray.

So a lot has happened between my first blog post and now.

When I was trying to figure out what to write a few people suggested writing about what I have learned….

I have learned a lot about blogging and the blog world and today I figured in honor of my 1,000th post I would share those with you….also there is a giveaway at the bottom…

1. Haters gonna Hate, Bakers gonna Bake: Shoutout Rach! People are going to be mean. It comes with the territory. The more followers you have, the more page views you get, the more haters will come out of the woodwork. Honestly they are just jealous. I know it can be hard to ignore the haters but try to. Don’t play into them. When they cause drama on twitter, or leave you an anon comment just leave them be.

2. Get Social: Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest are all great but actually get out there and meet bloggy friends. I text more with other bloggers than anyone I have met outside the blog world(aside from my best friend Michele). GO meet bloggers for meetups, have dinner, go for a walk and chat, go to blog conferences.

3. Let your freak flag fly: Be as weird as you want, completely geek out about something you love. Post 10000 pictures of your baby, your pet, your husband, your DIY project whatevs. Have 20 linkups a week. IT IS YOUR BLOG. Do yo thang! Don’t be afraid what others are going to say….like my girl Raven says no publicity is bad publicity 🙂

4. Help your fellow blogger: Are you a seasoned blogger? Have you been doing it for a few months or a few years and have the hang of it? People start new blogs EVERY SINGLE DAY! I bet they would love for you to answer their questions and help them out. I get emails all the time with questions and I always try to answer them as best as I can. Not because I think I am some kind of blogging expert(I am NOT) but I do know how hard it is when you first start. Someone reached out to me and it made a world of difference.

5. Usher may get caught up but you don’t have to: Don’t get caught up in the numbers, the followers, the amount of people who comment. I know I know we ALL do it! I am not perfect, I get caught up from time to time. Somedays I wonder why did this post get 50 comments and this post 10…no friggin clue. No rhyme or reason. Some people have 20 followers and have better blogs than I do…trust me!

Thank you all for reading my blog. Thank you for making 1,000 blog posts worth it. I hope the next 1,000 are just as fun 🙂 My 3 year blogoversary is in December…I’ll have to do something awesome for that huh?

Congrats, that’s so awesome! I’ve only recently discovered your blog, but really enjoy it! And you’re so right about what you wrote here – I think the most important part is the community and helping others! I’ve learned a lot along the way, a little html, stuff like that – it’s been so much fun and a new challenge! I’ll have my first guest post next week, I’m really excited about it!

  37. Wow A 1000 posts! I’m almost to 100 and feel I’ve learned a lot. I can’t even imagine 900 posts from now how much I will have learned. The most important thing I’ve learned is to try to resist my shyness and reach out to other bloggers. I learn so much from bloggers that have been doing this longer.

These are great tips!! I def agree with don’t get caught up in the numbers and be yourself!!

Recently there has been so much negativity in “blog world” and people can be straight up rude!! I think bloggers should be supportive of each other and if they have nothing nice to say then they shouldn’t read that persons blog! 🙂

  43. You basically just described me. I’ve been at this since April and I criticize myself everyday. Why do I only have 38 followers? Why am I not getting the traffic I want!? Why is she better than me? At the end of the day I blog for no one other than me, because I enjoy it. And I love your blog! Hopefully I can’t one day be as BIG as you!
