Call me crazy but Twitter is still my favorite form of social media. I guess that may be because when I started blogging, Twitter was the only way bloggers could really get their posts out there. There was no Pinterest, Instagram, or Google+. Facebook was still really only about telling people what you were doing every second of the day. So Twitter is how I made a ton of my early blogger connections, shared my posts, and chatted with people throughout the day. Over the years, when other forms of social media have taken over and Twitter has become a bit less, I have still seen my biggest return from Twitter. I wanted to share my best Twitter tips with you in hopes that maybe you see Twitter in a new light.
- Share Often: I think so many people share their posts once throughout the day on Twitter and then never again. Please share them often. I usually tweet my current post for the day at least 6 time throughout the day. I also tweet out old posts several times a day. Whenever I do this I see great interaction on them and lots of new comments and readers. It’s really easy to promote a post a bunch right when it’s live but then a few weeks later maybe go back and post it again. Even a year later or two years later if it’s a post you really love. This is great for people to read posts they may have missed when they weren’t blog followers.
- Use Schedulers: I love Buffer. Seriously, I could sing Buffer praises all day long. There are a lot of schedulers out there, but this is my absolute favorite one! When you sign up for Buffer it will tell you the times of day that your tweets are getting the most interaction. So when you schedule tweets in the queue they post them at the times that are best for you. You can also schedule them for certain times as well. This is great if you are also scheduling your blog posts, because you can buffer your tweets for the post days ahead of time. Oh, you can also use Buffer for Pinterest and Facebook!
- Follow A LOT: Do you want to grow your following? Follow people! Go to accounts that you really like (other bloggers, people you find interesting) and follow the people they follow. A lot of these people will follow you back. I use crowdfire to see who doesn’t follow back and also to see who unfollows me. I also use Twitter Lists to keep people categorized so I can look at my Twitter feed in ways that are easy to me. Following a lot is a great way to get yourself followed and noticed!
- Talk to Brands: Do you have brands you like, blog about, want to work with? Follow them and interact with them. Brands love interacting with bloggers and the people who love their products. I have interacted with tons of brands on Twitter. They have then followed me, and we have partnered together on blog posts, campaigns, and ambassadorships. You can do this on Instagram as well, but Twitter is still my favorite.
- Interact: Not just with brands but interact with people you talk to in regular life. Be active! Share quotes and retweet other blog posts you find interesting. Share the love constantly and the love will come back to you! Interacting with people on Twitter can be SO MUCH FUN! So do it!
These are not my only Twitter tips but they are my best Twitter Tips. I would love to share more ways I grow my social media following and make money with my blog, as well as go more in depth with you on this so I highly suggest checking out my blog classes, specifically my All About The Money course where I focus over two hours of time talking about how to make bank from your blog.
If you enjoyed this post I would love if you saved/heart it on Bloglovin!

I have my twitter for a long time and i never really use it to attract more readers in my blog. I guess i’ll start being active on it. Thanks for the pointers..
Twitter tips are always appreciated. I also use a scheduler, it’s just a blessing! I enjoyed keeping up with Friday night football scores on Twitter this year! Twitter is a multi-functional tool!
Great tips! Thank you! Are the scheduling tools you mentioned free?
I deleted my twitter last year because it wasn’t growing and I was on it too much but now I think I’m going to start again since I can use a scheduler. Loved this helpful post.. thank you! 🙂
Great tips! I have noticed that these tips pay off when I do them. I am relatively new to Twitter. It is not my go-to social media, but I am trying to engage on it more, because it seems to pay off. I have struggled with tweeting posts several times. It feels spammy, but you are not the first person I have heard recommend it, so I may try it. Thanks!
These are all great tips. Twitter is my 2nd go to social media but this require lots of daily tweets lately I have fallen behind thinking about what to post. Thanks for sharing I am going to try to repost old contents see where it leads.
I’m going to start using these tips! I’ve been on twitter since 2009, but still have a very small following. I know I don’t post enough, so that’s what I’m going to start on first!
Yes! I have been seeing such an increase in followers since using buffer!
What great tips! I use Hootsuite for scheduling and Unfollowers.com and completely agree with all your tips. Thank you for sharing your top tips!
you always come through with the very best information! I needed this. Thanks Neely
I go through phases when I follow and share all the time, but then I get kinda quiet for a little while. Gotta be more consistent about that! But yes totally agree on Buffer. That’s what I use and I love it!
Sharing a lot is so important! I have a plugin that tweets out posts at random and it’s helpful because people can check out different content and stuff is always being put out.
Great tips. I’ve really got to step up my twitter game. With these tips, I can certainly do just that.
All of these are awesome tips! I have a Twitter, but feel like I’m not using it to it’s true potential! Definitely will be keeping these in mind! Thanks for sharing!
These are some great tips! I totally agree that you need to schedule your tweets and make sure you’re tweeting your posts a lot more than just once!
Amen to this all! Twitter is so so useful in connecting with brands one-on-one. I swear by it! Plus it’s just such a personal platform and great for quick conversations…it’s just the best.

These are great tips! I am really trying to get better with Twitter. While some others are super obsessed with Instagram and Snapchat, I still love Twitter and find a lot of information from it. Plus, I think it’s easier to connect with brands through Twitter. I shared this post on Pinterest!
Awesome tips. I definitely don’t use Twitter enough. I’m going to get tweeting.
So time consuming! I need to work on my twitter stuff. I just recently clued in to following back though!

I do need to pay more attention to twitter, I let is slide when I shouldnt!
These are all super helpful tips 🙂
Twitter drives a pretty decent amount of traffic to my site but I can always do more.
xoxo, Jenny
So needed these !! I love social media and it helps my blog tons but Twitter is the one I have the most trouble with thanks !!!
This post has motivated me to put more effort into Twitter. I usually only post the same thing once but it looks like I need to be posting more frequently and get a scheduler. 🙂
Great tips! I need to be much more intentional about Twitter. So cool you’ve been around the blogging world so long!
Totally agree with you there. I’ve boosted following by doing those simple steps. Twitter brands? Whaaat?! Do you use the basic plan for buffer or is it worth the $10 per month to get the upgraded “awesome” plan?
Twitter is somewhat of a difficult medium to me so this is extremely helpful. I always feel like I’m spamming even promoting a post twice in one day on Twitter but I think I’m going to take your advice and hit it a little harder!
Good tips, maybe I will start sharing my posts more. Do you usually vary how you are sharing them (like what you say before the link, and whether you use a picture or not?)
My goal for 2016 is to be better at social media, especially Twitter. My followers are finally getting better and I really want to start interacting with others. Thanks for these tips!
