Recent Reads For Fall

I always get SUCH a great response when I share about books I am reading or plan to read soon. So as promised, it’s time for another edition of recent reads, and this time it’s recent reads for fall. These are all books I have read lately and a few I plan to read coming up!

Recent Reads For Fall

I mentioned It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover a while back but I couldn’t share details because the book had not been released yet! Well guys the book came out in August and I have actually read it twice. It is that good! I have always loved Colleen Hoover’s books, but this one is different. It’s her most personal story and that really comes across in the writing. I highly suggest checking this book out RIGHT NOW! You won’t regret it!

I have wanted to read Friday Night Lights for a long time. As a Texan and lover of the show and movie I had never read the book. It is VERY good! I really enjoyed it, not as much as the show but it’s still an enjoyable read. Next is Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo By Amy Schumer. So I wasn’t overly excited to read this book because I tend to be disappointed in celebrities books. I felt like this book was so real and really made me love her even more. I also read it in one day.

I have always really enjoyed Jane Green books. Some of them more than others, and so of course I had to read Falling. This was not my favorite of her books but it wasn’t my least favorite. I think it’s worth the read if you like romance books that really suck you in but don’t expect it to be the best book you’ve ever read. I got an ARC of Winter Storms and I am so excited to read it! It’s next on my list and I actually discovered this author because of my grandmother! Thanks Mimi. This book comes out in October, so it’s certain to be the perfect read for cozy fall/winter nights. I have had Nineteen Minutes on my iPad for YEARS. Seriously. I just never felt ready to read it because I knew it would make me sad. It did make me sad, but it was a great read. If you need a tearjerker this is it.

A book about Craigslist missed connections? Yes I judged this book by the cover because the cover was pretty. Whatever, you know you do it too. This book was really interesting. I always find the Craigslist missed connections idea interesting and this is just that. Before We Were Strangers was a really good read and I highly suggest it. I hated Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. OK, hate is a strong word. I did not like it like I loved all the Harry Potter books. I kind of wish I had not read it because I feel like it’s like a movie sequel that comes out 5 years later and ruins the story for you. But judge for yourself. The Light Between Oceans is on my to read list along with everyone else. The movie comes out soon and I really want to read the book first. Has anyone read it? Would I like it?

I hope you found my list of recent reads for fall helpful! I would love to know what you’ve read lately or plan to read soon!

I’ve heard VERY mixed reviews about the new HP book. The series represents my entire childhood, so I’m nervous to read this book and taint that. The Craigslist book looks so neat! That’s definitely something I would find fascinating.

I’ve never read a Harry Potter book, and I have only watched one movie all the way through. I’ve read one Erin Hilderbrand book. I might have to look up the one you mentioned.

OMG I feel the same about HP. I’m a huge fan and I felt the book was an epic disappointment 🙁 The Amy Schumer one is in my to-read shelf. Maybe one day soon. Right now I’m all up in sci-fi. I just ordered 4 (yes 4) sci-fi books. So excited (geek alert lol!)

Before We Were Strangers sounds like it had such a sweet premise. And I’ve never read any of Colleen Hoover’s books so I’ll have to check that one out too. I’ve been reading so much non-fiction lately, it’s about time I picked up some novels.

Amy Schumer will probably be an audiobook listen soon. Almost finished with Remarkable Creatures (by Tracy Chevalier) and will be starting My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me (by Jennifer Teege and Nikola Sellmair). Both are for book clubs this month!

The Light Between Oceans has also been on my TBR list for a long time…ahh, I need to read it soon! Also, thanks for your affirmation of my decision to NOT read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! I didn’t really have any excitement when it came out and whenever I considered reading it I just knew that it wouldn’t be the same. I’m glad I didn’t pick it up again. Thanks for sharing your books with us!

You have a pretty varied reading list there. Some of them are books I have considered reading, while others are not quite the genre I prefer.
I think I’ll add Colleen H’s book to my list. I read a lot of non-fiction, social justice, and inspirational books; too long a list to add here.

I didn’t even finish the new Harry Potter book. I didn’t like it at all. I tried so hard to power through it and read about 60% of it and then just couldn’t do it anymore. I didn’t like the storyline and the fact that it’s a play and not a book, drove me crazy too. No thank you haha I bought Nineteen Minutes last year and still have yet to read it so that’s high on my reading list for this next month. I’ll have to check out the rest of these books and add them to my wish list! Thanks for the recommendations!
