I always get SUCH a great response when I share about books I am reading or plan to read soon. So as promised, it’s time for another edition of recent reads, and this time it’s recent reads for fall. These are all books I have read lately and a few I plan to read coming up!
Recent Reads For Fall
I mentioned It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover a while back but I couldn’t share details because the book had not been released yet! Well guys the book came out in August and I have actually read it twice. It is that good! I have always loved Colleen Hoover’s books, but this one is different. It’s her most personal story and that really comes across in the writing. I highly suggest checking this book out RIGHT NOW! You won’t regret it!
I have wanted to read Friday Night Lights for a long time. As a Texan and lover of the show and movie I had never read the book. It is VERY good! I really enjoyed it, not as much as the show but it’s still an enjoyable read. Next is Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo By Amy Schumer. So I wasn’t overly excited to read this book because I tend to be disappointed in celebrities books. I felt like this book was so real and really made me love her even more. I also read it in one day.
I have always really enjoyed Jane Green books. Some of them more than others, and so of course I had to read Falling. This was not my favorite of her books but it wasn’t my least favorite. I think it’s worth the read if you like romance books that really suck you in but don’t expect it to be the best book you’ve ever read. I got an ARC of Winter Storms and I am so excited to read it! It’s next on my list and I actually discovered this author because of my grandmother! Thanks Mimi. This book comes out in October, so it’s certain to be the perfect read for cozy fall/winter nights. I have had Nineteen Minutes on my iPad for YEARS. Seriously. I just never felt ready to read it because I knew it would make me sad. It did make me sad, but it was a great read. If you need a tearjerker this is it.
A book about Craigslist missed connections? Yes I judged this book by the cover because the cover was pretty. Whatever, you know you do it too. This book was really interesting. I always find the Craigslist missed connections idea interesting and this is just that. Before We Were Strangers was a really good read and I highly suggest it. I hated Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. OK, hate is a strong word. I did not like it like I loved all the Harry Potter books. I kind of wish I had not read it because I feel like it’s like a movie sequel that comes out 5 years later and ruins the story for you. But judge for yourself. The Light Between Oceans is on my to read list along with everyone else. The movie comes out soon and I really want to read the book first. Has anyone read it? Would I like it?
I hope you found my list of recent reads for fall helpful! I would love to know what you’ve read lately or plan to read soon!
I’ve heard VERY mixed reviews about the new HP book. The series represents my entire childhood, so I’m nervous to read this book and taint that. The Craigslist book looks so neat! That’s definitely something I would find fascinating.
I’ve never heard of Jane Green, so I’ll be sure to check her out! Lovely list!
Harry Potter FTW! I’m very looking forward to get my hands to a copy of that.
I’d wish I could read 9 books in one month.
I’ve never read a Harry Potter book, and I have only watched one movie all the way through. I’ve read one Erin Hilderbrand book. I might have to look up the one you mentioned.
Love reading Jodi Picoult books and looking forward to Harry Potter .
I loved Before We Were Strangers! Such a good book! I love your list some I can’t wait to read!
Thank you for so many great suggestions. I need to take more time to read!
Definitely pinning this to my books board! I’m re-reading Angela’s Ashes at the moment because I’m teaching it, but I like to have a for fun book always to read.
beautiful blog! 🙂
I just got Falling from the library. Amy Schumer’s book is on my list to read and so is It Ends With Us. I am also really excited about Jodi Picoult’s new book that comes out soon!
I really need to read the Amy Schumer book, I have been hearing such good things! The HP book is on my potential Christmas list, so I have a few more months to wait. 😉
Did you get the new Jodi Picoult book on NetGalley? It’s taking me a while to read, but it’s good.
OMG I feel the same about HP. I’m a huge fan and I felt the book was an epic disappointment 🙁 The Amy Schumer one is in my to-read shelf. Maybe one day soon. Right now I’m all up in sci-fi. I just ordered 4 (yes 4) sci-fi books. So excited (geek alert lol!)
Never heard of any these books, but the one that caught my eye is “The Light between Oceans” it seems like it would be a great book and very nice.
These are great choices! I’m afraid to read the HP one though — I don’t want it to ruin the ‘true’ HP for me!!
These are definitely some great choices, some of which are waiting for me to read on my nightstand.
I read 19 Minutes way back in high school…maybe I should again! I need a good book to get into, so I’ll have to checkout some of these!
I read “The Light Between Oceans” and it’s an amazing book. Love the perspective it takes for all of the characters and the writing is impeccable. Cannot wait to see the movie.
These all look great, I need some good fall reads!
I’m so excited to read The cursed child. My son got it for his birthday. He even takes it to school to read in form time and on his bus so I can’t even sneak read it when he’s at school.
Oh no, you hated the HP book?? I’m only just starting the read the series now but maybe I won’t be in such a hurry to read this one.
I love Jane Green and Jodi Picoult. I am excited to read Amy Schumer’s book at some point, I heard part of an interview with her about it and I am intrigued!
I NEED to read the Amy Schumer book like tomorrow! I am so excited about it!
Before We Were Strangers sounds like it had such a sweet premise. And I’ve never read any of Colleen Hoover’s books so I’ll have to check that one out too. I’ve been reading so much non-fiction lately, it’s about time I picked up some novels.
Amy Schumer will probably be an audiobook listen soon. Almost finished with Remarkable Creatures (by Tracy Chevalier) and will be starting My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me (by Jennifer Teege and Nikola Sellmair). Both are for book clubs this month!
Great blog post! I definitely need a new book to read for my upcoming road trip.

This might be the best list of book ever. I want to read almost all of them! I love Jane Green, have for years, but her books have been a little eh for me lately. I’ll wait for Falling to come out in paperback!
im looking forward to ready Amy’s book….thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
I actually just started reading the Harry Potter series for the first time ever! I’m a little behind 😉
The Light Between Oceans has also been on my TBR list for a long time…ahh, I need to read it soon! Also, thanks for your affirmation of my decision to NOT read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! I didn’t really have any excitement when it came out and whenever I considered reading it I just knew that it wouldn’t be the same. I’m glad I didn’t pick it up again. Thanks for sharing your books with us!
It Ends With Us is just sitting on my desk waiting for me to read it. Can’t wait to dive in.
xoxo, Jenny
The new Harry Potter is definitely on my list to read this fall! They finally got the English copies here in the store! But they were sold out instantly! Hopefully I will get my copy soon!
I really enjoyed Nineteen Minutes! It did make me cry a bit!
I have been wondering if the new HP book would be worth it, but I think I’ll just pass on it. I was so happy with how the series ended, that I don’t want to ruin it for me! And this post makes me want to drop everything and just read. Ahhh to have more free time!!
I have not read any of these yet. I’ll have to add some of these to my list of books to read! I love Amy Schumer, so I will def be checking out her book!
You have the best book reviews! I always appreciate the new suggestions for a great book. Want to try the new Elin Hilderbrand one!
I love the Friday Night Lights TV show , I will have to check out that book. I want to see the Light Between the Oceans. I was supposed to go to a screening but missed it. Part of me thinks that book/movie will be too emotional for me since I have 10+ years of infertility.
I can’t wait for the day when I have time to read again! It will be glorious!
I will have to check out The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. Too bad Harry Potter wasn’t a great read. I have only seen the movies. I would have assumed it would be good.
Great book list! I haven’t got time to sit down to read except magazines on the weekend. I’ll definitely want to check out the Harry Potter book this fall.
I am waiting to listen to Amy Schumer’s book, but I’m so glad to see someone say they recommend it!
I read Friday Night Lights when I was in high school & to be honest, I think I was kind of bored with it. I still have it, so I need to re-read it and see if I can get back into it!

You have a pretty varied reading list there. Some of them are books I have considered reading, while others are not quite the genre I prefer.
I think I’ll add Colleen H’s book to my list. I read a lot of non-fiction, social justice, and inspirational books; too long a list to add here.
I’ve been in need of some new book recommendations.. thanks for these! I’ve had Colleen’s book on my list to buy since it came out! Thanks for the push to go download it onto my Kindle!
I didn’t even finish the new Harry Potter book. I didn’t like it at all. I tried so hard to power through it and read about 60% of it and then just couldn’t do it anymore. I didn’t like the storyline and the fact that it’s a play and not a book, drove me crazy too. No thank you haha I bought Nineteen Minutes last year and still have yet to read it so that’s high on my reading list for this next month. I’ll have to check out the rest of these books and add them to my wish list! Thanks for the recommendations!

I, too, read an advanced copy of The Mothers and it was great. I’d also highly recommend harry potter and the cursed child by jk rowling
Friday Night Lights is SO good! I really liked Light Between the Oceans too. You have given me a few more to add to my “to read” list.
