5 Do’s and A Don’t with Leslie

Today I have Leslie giving us her 5 Do’s and A Don’t! I adore this girl. She is the nicest, funniest, and cutest EVER! WE work together on My Twenties Blog and I am so so so glad I met her. Go show her some love 🙂
________________________________________________________________________
Hey y’all! I’m Leslie, and I blog over at Life in its Ordinary Form.
I’m a pre-pharmacy student at UGA, living my life in one of the best college towns around, and blogging about it in the process.
Neely asked me to write a post for her 5 Do’s and a Don’t and I was so honored to oblige. 😉 I love Neely so very much, and I am so grateful we met over the blogosphere from blogging together on My Twenties Blog. (Which you should go follow if you don’t already! #shamelessplug)
So let’s get started, shall we?
1. Do treat yourself.
  •  You know that pair of shoes you’ve been eye-balling for months now? Or that handbag that you just know you would carry everywhere? Or that chocolate lava fudgy goodness on the menu that you KNOW is totally against the diet plan? Treat yourself. Seriously, life’s too short not to.
2. Do write Thank You notes.
  • I am a firm believer in the power of a good Thank You note. I’m all about showing appreciation, because let’s face it: we all like to feel appreciated. Don’t tell me you don’t get the slightest bit frustrated when you do something for someone, and they don’t even show you a bit of gratitude. Acknowledgement: That’s what you are doing when you write someone a Thank You note. It’s powerful. and it needs to be done more often.
3. Do be spontaneous.
  •  I’ll be honest, I’m OCD about having my schedule ALL put together before the day even begins. I want to know when I’m eating lunch, what I’m eating for lunch, etc. However, this year I’ve had more of those “fly by the seat of your pants” moments.. and I can honestly say it has been so much fun. Sometimes you need to relax, throw your schedule out the window, and go with the flow. Plan a last minute road trip, do something on impulse… it’s a rush! 😉
4. Do Count Your blessings.
  • It can be so easy to get wrapped in the negative things going on. How often have you let one little thing just completely destroy your day, and cast a shadow on everything great that’s going for you? When you really sit back and look at our complaints, they’re often first-world problems that we’re lucky to even be able to complain about. Lately I’ve been trying to take note of the little things that I’m blessed with on a daily basis, and it’s really improved my attitude. So you should totally take note of your blessings too.
5. Do Take Time for Yourself.
  • Having “Me” time is so important. If you aren’t happy with yourself, you aren’t going to be a happy person to be around. Whether you’re married, single, or in a relationship.. it’s always important to have alone time to just think. Paint your nails, take a bubble bath, listen to music, or do some reading. Alone time is important.

Don’t beat yourself up over mistakes.
  • Life is about learning from your mistakes, and beating yourself up over them does nothing but waste time… and make you feel worse. Mistakes happen. As much as you like to think you’ll NEVER make a mistake again, I’m here to tell you that you will. You’re gonna mess up. Life is messy. I stress over small things a lot… and it’s absolutely pointless because things tend to work themselves out. So really, if you’ve royally screwed up something in your life from some TERRIBLE mistake… don’t sweat it. Quit making yourself feel bad over it, because I guarantee that a month from now (if not sooner) everything will be just peachy.
