Friday night I asked a simple question:
This was because Chad and I had just spent the previous 20 minutes watching a Nostalgia Chick video….
I have posted before about the babysitters club on Nostalgia Chick but this time it was Grease 2
Just so you know what I am talking about here is the video…please watch it!
Anyways….
So this twitter post sparked quite the debate and I found 2 things:
1. Either people had never seen Grease 2
or
2. People favored Grease original flavor
Now I completely understand this. Grease is the superior movie, its the original, has been acting, etc
But have you ever really watched Grease 2 and noticed its completely about sex!
Wanting it, having it, etc
Grease only mentions sex when Rizzo thinks she’s preggo
But Grease 2 has the song reproduction

In middle school my friends and I watched Grease 2 liked eleventy billion times
Seriously!
But guys IM still torn…
Which is the better movie?
Ok lets talk leads:
Danny: OK its John Travolta and you cant mess with the Travolta
Sandy: Kind of annoying, accents bother me and Olivia Newton John is weird
Then you have Rex Manning from Grease 2(please tell me you caught that joke) Michael: Eh he was ok but not really my type
Stephanie: Michelle Pfeiffer should NOT SING like EVER! She should stick to acting
So even the leads are a little meh
The supporting cast: OK Rizzo wins any discussion of supporting cast members cause shes the best ever so Ill give it to Grease there.

Lets do it for our Country….GENIUS!
This is just not an easy decision guys….I still vote Grease 2 as the overall more entertaining movie

I’ve seen both. Grease is probably one of my all time favorite movies so I definitely have to go with 1, plus Rizzo is soo my favorite character. However, the Reproduction song was totes my fav from 2!!
Just like iPhones and Droids, we shall never agree. 🙂 GREASE ONE for the win!
Also, my high school biology teacher used the song “Reproduction” as a teaching aid. I’ve never forgotten the parts of a plant since then…!
I totally got the Rex Manning plug. I thought I was the only one in the world to watch and love Empire Records! 🙂
Ok, I love them both. Seriously! But I think you really can’t top the original. John Travolta, all the great music…yep, that one is the best!
I do love 2 thought! Kinda cheesy, but it’s fun! I love Michelle Pfeiffer, but she definitely should NEVER EVER sing! Cool Rider is a pretty awesome song though, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be playing in my head the rest of the day now…
The original Grease is the best hands down! Sandy and Danny(YUMM!)even Rizzo and Kinicky(sp?)are all awesome and very entertaining.
I do like Grease 2 also though. I love the songs in it as well. Cool Rider, Reproduction! But let’s face it, Michael is EWWWW compared to John Travolta.
I’ve never seen Grease 2, but now I want to watch Empire Records (oh, Rexy, you’re so sexy! LOL).

I’ve seen Grease 2 and I hate it. So original Grease wins for me. I love all the music and the cast!
And what is up with everyone talking about Empire Records all of a sudden? My husband had me watch it like 2 years ago and I thought it was AWFUL. LOL
Grease 1! I haven’t seen the entire Grease 2, but I just hate different actors playing the same roles. The acting to me is just not as great as the first one!

But on to the topic of Grease vs Grease 2. Hands down I give the win to Grease 2. For one reason only better music! I mean seriously they spell Cool Rider out in a song…pure genius okay so not really but it sure beats hopelessly devoted to you’s Butt. But my favorite Who’s that Guy. Not sure why but everytime I watch the movie I sing this song for a good week. Thanks to Neely it will happen this week. lol. Don’t get me wrong I loved Grease as much as the next one I mean I will take Travolta over Maxwell Caulfield any day of the week, but its a musical and so to me you have to boil it down to the music and Grease 2 win’s.

This is impossible to answer, I’m totally torn.
I spent more hours than I can count watching both (alternating with Dirty Dancing and Footloose, too. Obvs), so I’m going to have to say that technically Grease is the better movie, but Grease 2 is amazing in its own right due to its utter cheesiness and ridiculousness.
We’re gonna score, score, score, score, score tonight!
Okay seen both but hands down 100% Grease!
I know this is a GASP thing for me to say, but I would just like to state that both are TERRIBLE. With awesome moments. I think being in the theatre field gets you completely burned out on Grease because it is so incredibly overdone. But YES to the song Reproduction… LOVE IT!!!
Seriously? Hands Down the original Grease! The story, the actors, the music – it’s all superior 🙂
I also hated Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights, you just can’t replicate some awesome stories!

I love the original Grease so much I bought the CD soundtrack when I was in 3rd grade. I saw Grease 2 and flipped the channel after hearing Pfeiffer sing. Neverrrrrr singgggg, please!
I can’t decide which I love better, I love different parts of each of them!
It’s been at least ten years since I’ve seen Grease 2. But even then, I was definitely on the side of the original– I’ve seen that one I dunno how many times. And yes, the 2nd one is all about sex, but the first one was pretty much all about sex too. Lol.
I totally LOVE Grease 2! OMG. “A Girl For All Seasons”! And then when Stephanie sings about losing Michael. SO GOOD!!!!!!!!
As someone who has seen both, It’s all about the original. I have the soundtrack and everything. I love that movie. The second one was entirely too cheesy for me.
I didn’t weigh in on Twitter, but I’d have to cast my vote for Grease 1. You make a good case for Grease 2, but somehow nothing can replace the classic!
I feel like I have to say Grease is better just because it is the original. With that said, if you place Grease and Grease 2 in front of me, I’ll chose Grease 2 every time!
Ok, this is tough!! I am going to have to go for the original Grease because I just like the story better. But I also reallllly like Grease 2 and LOVE the music! Basically I wouldn’t complain about watching either. Great post!

Ok, totally a Grease girl, like I can quote the ENTIRE movie word for word and it freaks my kids out. And yes, I’ve seen Grease 2, but remember I am WAY older than you and Grease came out when I was 12 and MY junior high friends and I played that freaking soundtrack until I’m sure my mom wanted to throw it out the window. 😉

When I was in LA 2 weeks ago I saw the school they filmed it at! Looks smaller in person! LOL!
I love Grease, but I secretly watch Grease2 more often than anyone should…I get so excited when it’s on TV. I think I like the original a little bit better, but 2 is my guilty pleasure! Similar to how I love the Princess Diaries 2 better than the orig. but don’t admit it.

It’s hard for me to choose because I love both Grease 1 and Grease 2! Grease 1 is the classic and it’s a bit more “classic musical” to me. But Grease 2 is fun, a bit more sexual, and I used to sing C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R all the time when I was younger!
Grease 2 is my favorite. I even bought it on itunes. I also have the soundtrack. I quote that movie like it’s my job. I think overall there are more memorable songs from Grease 2.

I think the original is far better. But you can’t help but love “reproduction”.
