Guest Post by Priti Patel: Wedding Gowns

The Best Gown for Your Figure
Now that Bonnie has taken care of the hard part, getting him to propose, it’s time to start planning the wedding!  Which, of course, includes every girl’s favorite part.. finding a dress!  Every bride wants to look and feel incredible with all eyes on her on her special day and finding the perfect dress is essential for making that happen.  The key is to choose the right silhouette and detailing that will flatter your body and enhance your most beautiful features.  With a touch of strategic styling, any problem areas or self-conscious spots will disappear and you will be ready to walk down the aisle feeling more confident than ever before.
Rectangle
Straight body types with balanced shoulders, waists, and hips can look curvy with the right dress.  Look for a slimmer cut that fits close to the body.  A-line and trumpet gowns are excellent options as they add volume to the bottom of the body and make the waist appear smaller.  A dropped waist dress will accentuate the curves of your hips and waist.  The trick is to bring attention to the smallest part of you.  Add a belt or find a dress with detailing such as ruching around the torso like this one from David’s Bridal.
Pear
Pear shaped body types that carry most of their weight around the hips will find that classic A-line and ball gown style dresses create a silhouette that draws attention up to the face.  Keep the majority of the detailing on the top half of the body to draw the eye upwards.  One-shouldered gowns, dresses with beaded empire waists, detailing around the bust, and gowns with sleeves are all perfect options for creating a visual balance between the upper and lower body.

Apple
The opposite of the pear shaped body is the apple shaped body.  This body type is broader in the shoulders than in the hips.  Any dress with a full skirt will help make the body look more proportional.  Women with apple shapes might consider short gowns that show off the legs.  This draws the eye down and away from the widest part of the figure.  Full length ball gown skirts with a lot of volume will create the same effect for a more formal look.
No matter what your shape or size, there is a perfect gown for showcasing your natural beauty and accentuating your best features.  Whether you are curvy or athletic, tall or petite, have modern or traditional style, choosing the right silhouette is key.  Celebrate your amazing figure as you celebrate the beginning of your new marriage!

    These gowns are so pretty!
I must admit that picking a gown was the hardest part of my wedding. Even though I picked one very quickly, it was a gown that I never saw myself hand picking for me to walk down the aisle in. Although, it was perfect for us and our country wedding!
