Because sometimes we all need a slap in the face

Tuesday I was really depressed and down…

More so than I have been since Chad and I got back together and oddly enough it had NOTHING to do with Chad. Not our relationship and not him being in Spain. Even though I miss him dearly…

I digress….

So on Tuesday while in my pool of depression I reached out…

To Chad when we talked

To Ashley

To my best friend Michele

While talking to these people I kept reminding myself how great I have it!

I have a summer job paying me great, I have an amazing boyfriend, I have amazing friends, I have a great family(minus the stepmom who currently resides at the top of my shitlist).

Do you ever have those days where you are down and you kind of wanna slap yourself in the face and say, “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT!?!?!”

I think too often I personally get caught up in myself. What I dont have, what’s lacking, what isn’t perfect in my life.

I have so much to be grateful for and so much I take for granted.

This week has really made me think about what I need to be doing to make myself happier and what I need to be doing for others.

All I am saying with all of this is that we are all so lucky. Yes we have things in our lives that aren’t perfect. Yes we have things that eat away at us that we dont always share on the blogs. But we have each other. We have a support group of women who want to be there for one another. W

I personally want to try to be less of a Debbie Downer than I have been this week and try to focus on the great things in my life.

Its ok to have bad days….or days where we feel down…but its also ok to pick ourselves up, slap ourselves in the face and say GET OVER IT!

Or maybe thats just me 🙂

I definitely have those days. Usually those days are around the time of my monthly friend coming to visit.

Friend- I have been having lots of those days lately… not sure why… I try to remind myself of all the fabulous things in my life— but we all struggle once in awhile!

We all have our bad days… Doesn’t matter how much money you have, how much love is in your life, what a great job you have, etc. WE ALL HAVE THEM! You are right though we just need to sit back and really think about what is important in life and how good we really DO have it! I have to slap myself in the face, too 😉

I have these moments too. I’m actually in the middle of them now 🙂 I think it’s just hard to keep perspective at times because we get so wrapped up in our own crap.

I love this post!! I was trying so hard yesterday to not be a Debbie Downer–and instead see the humor in my day…

My glasses broke on the one day in 9 years I *needed* them. And I dropped my car off for an oil change, only to find I need $600 in maintenance.

But in the long run none of this will really matter! Life goes on. 🙂

Yes! Those are the days I cut myself off from the world and go to bed right after dinner. Sometimes hubby gets in those moods as well and he does the same. The best are when we experience them at the same time and were both in bed by 7. It happens!

Too true. I’ve definitely gotten down on myself before, and in retrospect, it’s always over these relatively petty little things. I think we all tend to look for the bad in our lives, regardless of how good they are.. just natural. But I totally agree.. a good “slap in the face” and life seems a whole lot brighter when you really think about it!

Been there. Sometimes you just get caught up in everything you want and criticize yourself or others for why you don’t have it. Then you realize how great the things you have really are and it’s like falling in love all over again. It’s actually a really awesome feeling.

My take on it? I allow myself to have those bad days. Everyone does and I revel in it because it’s totally normal. As long as it doesn’t last forever 🙂

I totally get what you mean! I often find myself complaining about the most insignificant thing. When the truth is, I have everything I could ever want, I have an amazing husband, a loving family, a nice place to live, we have a new car, I am happy with my life, yet I still find things to complain about. I am so much better off than a lot of people, so I need to remember what really counts, and stop worrying about the rest! Great post girly!

I know how you feel! Seems like this has just been one of those weeks where nothing is going right. But we are really lucky! If you compare our “problems” with people in other parts of the world, we really do have it pretty easy. Hope your week is going better! Can’t wait for our phone chat tonight!

It’s hard to remember that when we’re in a funk though, so it’s okay to have those times. It’s nice to have such a huge support group, isn’t it? I’m always here if you need to vent! 🙂 Love you!
