Today while I am catching up on work and taking care of my dad I have the lovely Jennifer Green posting for me. I met her at Blissdom back in Feb and I have loved chatting it up with her on twitter and reading her blog since. She’s pretty awesome!
Meet Jennifer:
I’m so excited to be guest posting over here on Neely’s slice of the internet. I met Neely at Blissdom last year (in my pajamas, I should add) and I’ve been reading A Complete Waste Of Makeup since.
Introducing myself would probably be a great place to start. I’m Jennifer and I blog over at Life In The Green House. Green because it’s our last name, not because we boast of a reduced carbon footprint.
Neely’s only requirement for this post was that I write about “cheerful and happy things.” I knew immediately what I would write about, chocolate. The one thing that can always cheer me up.
And these brownies take chocolate to a whole new level.
On to the recipe. It’s quick and easy and requires few ingredients. Actually all you need is a family size box of brownie mix (and the ingredients it calls for eggs, oil and water) and 3 large Symphony candy bars. The kind with toffee and almond in the blue package.
Prepare your batter according to the directions on the box and pour half of the mixture into a 9X13″ pan (make sure and spray with cooking spray). Layer the candy bars on top of the mixture making a new layer. Then pour the remaining mixture on top. Bake according to the directions on the brownie package. It may need a few extra minutes but be careful not to overcook. I always watch the edges for when they look done so I don’t overcook.
Let them cool before you cut and serve. These will cheer you up right away. Or you’ll be the hit of any party with these babies. I’m not even kidding. I’ve taken them to so many people/places and I never brought a single one home with me.

That looks DELISH! 🙂
