Hi, I’m Nadine and I blog over at Back East Blonde. I moved from California to the east coast after graduating from college and my blog follows my east coast adventures. Come follow along!
Though I’m not a beauty blogger, I’m a hard core product junkie. I also recently got bangs and now I feel like my lips need a little oomph all the time. Why is that? So here are 5 lip products I use that you simply must try.
1. Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter
I have this product in Peach Parfait, a nice coral/pink, and Candy Apple, a smooth red with a warmer undertone (both swatched above). Emma Stone’s ad is definitely what made me go for the Peach Parfait, which once purchased I realized has a bit too much glitter/sparkle for my taste. Still, it’s pretty and the Candy Apple does not have the same glitter texture and goes on smooth. If I had a few more bucks in my pocket, I’d try out a couple more shades of this as it feels like a regular balm on your lips and it definitely has the most color options.
I bought this a few days ago in A Plum Prospect and I love love love it. The color is a gel so it’s very light. I was hoping for a smidge more purple in the shade but the texture of the product is smooth that I’m still thrilled with my purchase. These would be great for a lipstick virgin, if you want to try a brighter lip but don’t want to go straight to lipstick.
This is the toned down version of Color Whisper. I have it in Cherry Me and wear it as chapstick. It adds just enough color to your lips that you never look washed out but not so much that you’re worried that it’s smudging all over your face.
4. Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte – By Kate Moss
In a bold move on my part, I attempted a matte lipstick. I bought color 103 which is very close to my natural lip color but matte and just a little more pink. This lasts a long time but doesn’t look quite as smooth on dry lips. If you’re worried about a lip color emphasizing fine lip lines, this might not be for you. I do love this for a day that I do a heavier eye and don’t want to be too obnoxious on the lips.
5. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
This is my favorite of all of these products. I had tried the Revlon stain that is like a marker and hated it (it deposits more pigment where your lips are dry, leaving your lips looking like a speckled egg!). I decided to give the Balm Stain a try and I’m sure glad I did. This stuff lasts all day and feels smooth and well, like lip balm. If you apply it 3-4 times throughout the day the color really sinks in and you’ll still see the color the next morning. I have this in Smitten, a bright, punchy pink and I’m lusting after Crush, a darker berry shade.
Honorable Mention: L’oreal Color Riche Balm
I used this product so much, it’s gone! I had this product in Calming Coral and I kid you not, it is the exact shade of my lips. The packaging feels expensive and the product itself is in a skinnier tube which I thought made it easier to apply than the Revlon Lip Butter. I used this as regular lip balm every day. The consistancy of the product is smooth and creamy and I’d love to try other shades, though they do not come in really pigmented colors. It’s not on the official list because I couldn’t swatch it and I wish the shades had a little more pigment.
The best part of all of these? They’re easily found at your local drugstore and are often on a buy one 50% off type sale. That way you don’t have to feel bad if your day really is a complete waste of makeup!
Because I love these products so much, I’m giving away your choice of 2 of the above products, in any color you’d like! So tell me, which do you want?
