The South and Koozies oh and a giveaway too!

Well, hello there, readers of Neely’s!
I’m Martha, and I blog over at A Southern Transplant.  I’m just that-a transplant. I grew up in Ohio and moved to the Carolinas in 2000. Living in the South is so different, and there’s a heck of a learning curve. I’m here to share a few life lessons I’ve learned living in good ol’ South Carolina.
Did you know southern mamas naturally know how to cook greens, banana pudding, and grits?
Did you know a  Southern mama also learns to cook and eat what her kids or husband kill too. Even if it’s one of these?

Yeah, I didn’t either.  I do now, though.
Southern ladies also know to always carry a koozie. Everywhere you go.  A Southern lady should never have a sweaty drink.

A Southern lady knows the difference between seersucker, damask, gingham, polka dots, chevron and stripes by age 2.
She also already knows her monogram and preferred font style.
Southern girls know SEC football stats like the backs of their hands. Football season also means tailgate, no exceptions.

A Southern woman never opens doors herself when a gentleman is present. This does not make her feel inferior to her male counterparts, either.
Southern women know how “Oh, bless your heart” to tell someone they’re a complete moron in a classy, gentile way.
A Southern woman knows how cut you down without using one vulgar word. In fact, once she’s done with you, you won’t be certain if you’ve been insulted or complimented!
With that said, if her favorite team loses the football game, if someone messes with her kids, or insults her mama, she’s feisty.

So, these are just a few of the lessons I’ve learned in my 10+ years down here.  Living in the South is an adventure of its own kind.  I think I’m embracing my Southerness pretty well.

In honor of my new homeland (and wine, of course), I’m giving away a four-pack of the best koozies ever…the Woozie Safari Collection, so you never have to suffer from the tasty beverage sweats, either. Open to U.S. residents only (sorry international ladies, I have nothing but love for you, just not customs!)

  1. Bless your sweet little heart, Martha! I love the koozies, or should I say Woozies!?! What a great gift and giveaway, thanks for the opportunity. And welcome to the South, where the tea’s sweet and the accents are sweeter. You and Neely are welcome to my front porch anytime! =)

Haha I love this. I am a New Englander to the core, but there is some part of me that is a wannabe southern gal. Every time I visit (most recently Tennessee), I don’t want to come up to the cold, obnoxious, and rude Northeast ha.
