A fun 30 for 30 giveaway and guest post from Vicki!

NewButton_600x80

Hey everyone! I’m Vicki and I blog over at: My Vickilicious Life. I live in NYC with my boyfriend of seven years. I am addicted to tv (like seriously, shows I watch on the regular include but are not limited to: Criminal Minds, The Following, CSI: NY, Scandal, Glee, The New Girl, The Mindy Project, Once Upon A Time, Pretty Little Liars, and I am sure I am missing a few). I also love blogging, the color pink, anything chevron and pumpkin! (Also, I have no idea why this is starting to sound like a personal ad, I’ll stop now).

So, anyways, not only am I here doing a guest-post for Neely (who is to blame thank for me starting a blog in the first place … true story, her blog was the first one I ever followed and is the sole reason I wanted to blog myself), BUT … I recently hit a big ol’ milestone and said goodbye to my twenties as I turned the BIG 30! Ack … how is that even possible?!

But … I guess, I have to face the music … gone are my twenties … and I am officially 100% now an adult. Such a scary thought! LOL! So now that I am a wise old lady in my thirties, I thought I would share with you some things I’ve learned over the years:

  1. Smile. Life can be complicated & heartbreaking and sometimes I feel like a big ol’ mess … but trying to find the good within the bad is important.
  2. If it looks good, buy it in every color. I’m short (4’9) & I have small feet, so if I find something that works for me, I grab all I can.
  3. Know when to pick your battles. Some things are just not worth fighting over … and somethings absolutely are. Choose wisely.
  4. Appreciate the sun. I blogged about this awhile back, it is still one of my favorite posts, and one I reread almost daily to remind myself to do it.
  5. Be true to YOU. It took me a long time to get to this point, and sometimes I still struggle with it, but seriously, I stopped trying to be someone I’m not a long time ago.
  6. Cry it out. Sometimes all you need in life is a good cry to feel better about a crappy situation
  7. It’s ok to not know where your headed … life is about the journey, not the destination. Half the fun is in the stumbling blocks and life lessons you pick up along the way.
  8. Don’t eat yellow snow. (Ok, Ok, actually my momma taught me that many years ago, but still … important piece of advice for ya 😉
  9. Friendships come in all forms. Some of my best friends in the world are people I’ve never met. “Internet friends” if you will, but we text/talk/tweet/email on a daily basis and I am legit closer to them then most of my IRL people (they also tend to know more about me then IRL peeps … oops LOL)
  10. Haters gonna hate. Some people will bring negativity to your life no matter what you do, learn to appreciate them as people who push you to be a stronger, better person and rise above it.

So there you have it … 30 years of wisdom summed up to 10 measly little bullets (or at least, the most important 30 in my opinion).

To celebrate the fact that I’m 30 years young today, I’m giving one of Neely‘s readers the chance to win $30 in giftcards to my favorite stores ($15 to Sephora & $15 to Starbucks)
