I was walking into school senior year and a friend said “A plane hit one of the twin towers.” I said “planes crash all the time” it didnt seem like a big deal. I went to my locker and to ceramics class which was my first class of the day. About 20 minutes later the principal came on the loud speaker and asked all of the teachers to put the TV’s on channel 8. Thats when our worlds changed forever. We watched the 2nd plane hit and then a 3rd hit the pentagon and a 4th crash in PA.
The rest of the school day went like this: parents picking up their children, teachers saying we could go home if we wanted, TV’s being on in every classroom, no one saying much…I think we were all just in shock. We didnt know what to do.
I remember them evacuating downtown Dallas for fear that the terrorists were hitting every major city. I remember all of us thinking they could attack Dallas or Austin because thats where George Bush is from.
I remember that all that was on TV for days was coverage and seeing those images of the towers falling still traumatizes me.
I remember going home that day and crying because I just didnt understand what we as a country had done wrong….why were they after us?
Chad and I are sitting on the couch right now drinking coffee and watching a 9/11 special.
None of us will forget this day…
Thoughts and prayers with the families that lost loved ones on that day and in the war on terror every day after. I miss my best friend from high school, Greg, who lost his life last summer fighting for our country.
Let us never forget how lucky we are to live in this country.
Linking up to Brittany’s blog so we can all share how we felt and what it was like….

No kidding, we are so lucky!
And I’m so sad to hear about your friend, we’ve lost so much since 9/11 – but the feeling of being an American citizen just grows stronger.
Hope all is well with you 🙂
I was taking my first pre-calc exam in 11th grade. Our English teacher came in and told us what had happened, but it didn’t really register until later that day for me. Some things you will never forget!
I was in High School too. Can’t believe it was that long ago.
Great post, I agree – no one will ever forget.
Thanks for sharing the link, I think I’ll link up as well.
Thanks for sharing! Such a horrible day…I hate that I can remember where I was when it happened…because it was so traumatizing to see and watch!
I was also a senior in high school. I was at home getting ready for school. I agree, we are so very lucky to live in this great country! I will never forget!
Shows how young I am. I was still in elementary school. I will still never forget it though. Impossible.
I was a freshman in high school walking into English class when the principal announced it on the intercom and to turn the classroom TVs on.
Thank you for sharing your story and linking up to my blog.
I was at work in a deli. So many of my customers worked in the city so worrying about all of them plus any friends I knew that worked there was rough. It turned out the UPS guy who was a regular and joined the fire dept. passed away that day. So sad.
