I started blogging in December of 2009…officialy. I really started blogging probably in 2003. I had a live journal a xanga, and many blogs on blogger I never kept up with. But this blog that you know and love started in December of 2009. It was a weekend. I was bored out of my mind and I wrote this post.
Yes that is my ex boyfriend Chad. At the time we had been dating 5 months. I was at a job I hated and I needed something in my life. I felt something was missing. I was already religiously reading several blogs: Meet the McCradys, Seattle Smiths and a few more. I figured Im the same age as these girls I do brunch with friends, workout, have daily struggles I could write about. So I started what was then called “Neely’s Nothings.” Then a few months later “Chronicles of Neely.” Finally in January 2011 I changed the name to “A Complete Waste of Makeup.” Thats where it will stay.
Why I started blogging ….
I started blogging to share my life, to remember things, to have a scrapbook. I did not start to make money, have drama or even make friends. I did not know any of that was possible. I am grateful for the friends I have made and the opportunities I have been given. Sure the drama I could leave 😉
I find it funny and exciting how my blog has grown. I honestly remember when I hit 10 followers thinking HOLY SHIT 10 people are reading my blog. Not cause Im giving stuff away, not because I am giving some amazing advice but just because of me. I can remember some of my first followers: Kelly @ Keeping up with Kelly and Co, Caroline @ Simply Smithwick Jen at A Girl in Pearls and a few more. These were my peeps.
I remember the day I met my first blog friend IRL. I remember joining my first linkup Top 2 Tuesdays with Taylor. I remember getting 10 comments on a blog post, reaching 100 followers and hosting my first giveaway. It was my favorite things.
Its crazy how much blog world has changed but my reasoning for blogging has never changed. I blog to remember. I like to look back and know what I did on my birthday 2 years ago. I love to look back at pics of Ashley and I with blonde hair on our trip to Chicago.
I started blogging because I needed an outlet. I still need that EVERY SINGLE DAY. Thats why I keep blogging. Everything else is just icing on the most delicious cake ever made.

I even had a Blog recently on Blogger during a different phase of my life, but I deleted it because I didn't like it anymore and it wasn't a true representation of me.
