Wedding Wednesday: So MANY Details

Wedding Wednesday
So no one told me about the details. The SO MANY DETAILS that are involved in a wedding. Yes I knew I had to book a photographer, videographer, buy a dress, get a cake all that. But lets go into the crazy amount of details.
Yesterday my mom and I went to the Florist and holy decisions batman! OK I mean decisions for decor on the Chuppah, the aisle docor, my bouquet, the bridesmaids bouquets, the boutonnieres, the reception and rehearsal dinner centerpieces…too many decisions for one girl to make in 3 hours…especially when flowers are not something that she really knows much about. Thank god the girl helping us is amazing!!!
Then over the weekend I booked our photo booth and we bought favors for our reception. Both of which Im excited about but again more decisions.
Picking a girl to do hair and makeup for everyone….decisions.
Cake tasting…fun but again decisions.
Cake topper…thinking we are going with something along these lines….but with our last name initial

What’s left you ask? Well welcome basket gifts that I am pretty sure we decided will be Texas themed since so many people are coming in from out of town.  But all I can think of is Shiner beer hahahaha…any ideas there?
The sheer amount of choices I make on a daily basis is borderline ridiculous. I know in the end it will be worth it and our wedding will be beautiful but hopefully I dont start saying…Whatever to every decision hahahaha.
Tell me Im not the only one who feels this way?

SO many decisions indeed! My advice to friends planning their weddings is always “Make decisions quickly and don’t look back.” There isn’t time to second guess yourself (and most of the decisions don’t really matter! Flowers are pretty no matter what kind you pick! ha!)

  2. Don’t worry about the little stuff and DON’T overspend on the flowers. That is the one thing that most brides regret spending too much money on. Simple is best. Enjoy the little things and don’t stress. Your wedding will be beautiful!

One thing that I did for the florists was send them inspiration from Pinterest. Then I told them our budget and waited to see if they could make it happen for us. One of them is able to do everything in our budget (which is awesome)! Have you thought about that? Pinterest was so useful to me for the florists and cakes. We are meeting with them this weekend, so hopefully they can make it all actually happen.

You will get everything done. And you have so much time. The small stuff (like the cake topper and welcome bags) can wait until it’s closer to your date. We haven’t done either of those yet. I just now started looking at cake toppers but haven’t found anything I love.

    Thanks for linking up!

You are right about decisions Neely! They are fun but can get overwhelming…Don’t feel like you have to make them all at once. Just enjoy (hopefully you will only do this once…lol)!!

My husband and I had a very limited budget on our wedding, so getting what we wanted – or even something that resembled what we wanted – on everything wasn’t even a possibility for us. The first thing we did was prioritize everything. For me, our cake was very important, so we spent relatively a lot of money on it. Things like favors were lower priority so we were very frugal about those. It really helped streamline the decision making. And some things we knew just weren’t a possibility and couldn’t do. It’s been 3 years since our wedding and I don’t regret a thing! Do I wish we would have had more money to have a nicer wedding? Yes. But, when I look back on our wedding, I’m happy with the outcome and at the end of the day I’m still married to the man I love!

We put chips and salsa in our welcome bags… and the shiner beer, of course… we also did Llano Estacado wine… because it’s from Texas too. 😉

    • I would have loved to be a guest at your wedding! Chips and salsa and beer sounds like a fantastic welcome basket.

I don’t have much help to offer in the way of flowers. Mine were simple(and fairly inexpensive since they came from the flower department of a local general store-non flower specific), rose bouquet for the bride & a few long stemmed Calla Lilies for the bridesmaids. I’ve been to one wedding that had a welcome basket when we checked into the hotel. If I remember correctly, it was about 4 years or so ago I think, there were yummy butter cookies, some crackers or some other snack type item and I think a small sewing kit of some sort. As far as favors go it was a December wedding so I went with probably an overdone cliche type favor of red & silver ball ornaments with customized ribbons as the holders. Pretty sure I purchased most of them on clearance after Christmas the year before. Don’t stress about the favor too much though, I have more red & silver ornaments than I know what to do with now. I don’t think many people realized they were the take home favor so most of them ended up coming home with me, I have enough ornaments now to decorate an averaged size tree in probably 3 to 5 rooms in a house!
Continue to enjoy your engagement & planning. And as suggested don’t stress too much on the decision making, make a decision and move on to the next. The big day will be here before you know it and in the end all that’s going to matter is that you enjoy the day and are happy with the groom and the man you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with!

It’ll be the best day of your life no matter what! My husband and I finally just had my mom pick everything because we said that as long as we were married by the end of that day, we would be happy! (It turned out lovely. We picked the best photographer that we could find, so that those little details could be remembered!)

  13. You are definately not the only one who feels this way! It is crazy. One of the best things I learned was when to DIY and when to DDIY (Don’t Do It Yourself) that was such a great help!

Good luck planning! If you would like to collaborate – shoot me an email!

I feel like I planned my dream wedding for years before I even met my husband! We ended up getting married 6 weeks after we got engaged, and it really was a perfect day! It helped that we got married out of town because we couldn’t stress too much about finding perfection when we were so far away. I have no regrets about the day at all!
As for your welcome baskets, HEB has a ton of Texas themed goodies. I’m pretty sure they even have Texas shaped chips. You could also get some mini jars of local honey.

Yeah, decisions are part of wedding planning… it’s not that big of a deal, just make the appointments, do your research & decide.

Also, not sure what a hoopa is, if you’re having a jewish ceremony I’m pretty sure you’ll be under a ‘Chuppah’.

I am close to celebrating my first wedding anniversary. A year ago, I was right where you are…

Out of town bags- good call on the Shiner, I think some kind of alcohol is always nice. A note from the two of you, thanking them for coming. We included favorite restaurant suggestions and coffee shops. Other things- sunblock samples, headache meds, bottled water, granola bars/snack (Goldfish are a fav), your favorite candy (M&M, Kisses, etc), visitors’ guide to the area…
