Last Thursday I turned 30 and after we went to a quiet dinner we came home and celebrated with Cake and La Marca Proscecco. Its nice to have a reason to celebrate anything but its even more nice when its a big birthday and you get to celebrate it with your fiancee and two of your favorite neighbors to ever be neighbors.
Now since this was a special birthday we felt it necessary to celebrate in a special way. It really had me think about when I was little. My mom made a huge deal out of birthdays. They were always special. Even if they fell on a Tuesday and she had a ton of work to do. Birthdays were a big deal. I think thats what makes me want to make everyone around me have special birthdays too. So it was fun to have the special be about me this year. It was fun to have our neighbors over and enjoy some cake, cookie dough and Prosecco. We really had a blast and it made me also think about how I will be when I have kids and they have birthdays. I want to make them a big deal. I think everyone should feel extra special on their birthdays.
I went to bed that night very happy. In part because the Prosecco was delicious as was the cake but mainly because I got to feel very special around some of my favorite people on my birthday.
At the end of the day we all want to feel special. We all want to feel loved and feel like someone is excited to make a day special for us.
I will say even though my name was misspelled on the cake, and it rained, and I was exhausted it was still one of the greatest birthdays ever. Bonus…there was Prosecco 🙂

Lol I love all the “even though”s 🙂 I am so the same way with birthdays! They deserve to be celebrated!! My mom and your mom knew what mattered. I sure appreciate all she did to make things special even if sometimes the effort was maybe annoying cause the memories later are worth it.
