In honor of Caitlin’s book release, Operation Beautiful as well as my 200th post I thought I would participate in this wonderful idea..
She is calling this week Change the way you see, not the way you look! How amazing is she?
I have for as long as I can remember had issues with the way I look. I have a very low metabolism and always envied those that could eat whatever they wanted and look amazing. I also went through a period of time around the age of 20 where I had an eating disorder. If any of my IRL friends are reading this, it may come as a shock because VERY few people know about this. I was going through a lot in my personal life and felt “out of control” so controlling what I ate or rather didn’t eat was my way of being in control. Luckily it didn’t last all that long but every since then Ive really tried to be happy with my body.
I feel as though women look in the mirror and we only calculate what we see that’s wrong. So I make it a point when I catch myself doing this to say something I love about myself. For instance: I love my brown eyes, I love my hair and I think I have a great butt 🙂
Getting to that point was tough. Ive counted calories, Ive eaten horrible lean cuisine meals, Ive eaten carrot sticks and egg whites and nothing else. But when I started mixing healthy REAL foods with exercise I really not only looked better but felt better about myself. Not because I was losing weight the but because I was being responsible by doing it the right way and I was taking control on my own terms.
For me looking good isn’t about fitting into a size 0 its about finding clothes that look good on me, getting in my daily workout-I never feel as good as I do after I sweat 🙂 and its about loving myself and those around me and being a good person.
I think all girls and women should take one minute out of their day, look in the mirror and tell yourself something you absolutely love about the way you look. We all have at least one thing about us we love and maybe more than that. I promise that starting your day out with such a positive affirmation will not only put you in a good mood but give you the drive to make yourself better person.
We all spend a lot of time focusing on things we cant control, lets spend time focusing on what we can: our careers, our personal relationships, our relationship with ourselves, and taking care of our most precious gift-our bodies.
I hope you all liked my post and I really encourage you to check out Caitlin’s blog and participate.
Have a wonderful day/night 🙂

Awesome post! It took me a while before I realized that I need to find a size/weight range that I was comfortable with and that I didn’t have to be a size 0. Now that I realize this it has been so much easier to maintain where I am at right now!
Love this post! 🙂
