Dear Netflix,
I think you are ruining my ability to watch TV a normal way. See you have all these amazing series on your site and I have a netflix ready TV….not a great combo.
I have recently watched the entire series of Damages, Make it or Break it, Greek and Pretty Little Liars(again). My DVR is constantly 88% full because I watch Netflix 24/7 and I dont know how to properly deal with commercials. I can’t watch one episode of a TV show at a time without throwing a temper tantrum(no not really).
A and I tried watching live TV the other day and we were so confused we had to switch to DVR.
How did we all survive before Netflix and DVRs? I remember in high school if I had a football game to cheer at or something major to do that kept me from watching my 90210 original recipe or Dawsons Creek I would record it on a VHS tape. Yes that. I kept these for years and years and finally a year ago threw them out. I just couldn’t part with them for some reason.
It reminds me in general of the technology changes. In 8th grade I had a TV and VCR in my room, carried a pager instead of a cell phone. My parents both had portable phones and no cell phones. If I wanted to talk to a friend I called them or rode my bike to their house. I had the internet but it was slow as heck AOL dial up.
There was no pause button on the TV if I had to go to the bathroom or grab a snack.
My how things have changed….
But Netflix I blame you for my impatience. OK not really but I have to blame someone right?
Sincerely
Neely
Oh I hear ya loud and clear. My kids have blown through seasons of Glee in a week then got mad when they had to wait till the current season was over to watch it. I am not that bad lol. We don’t even have cable, only Netflix and what we get with an antennae ..
I have so much stuff in my DVR right now because we have been watching Downton Abbey and The League on Netflix!! I have the same problem. You’re right – how in the world did we survive before the technology we have now?!
The best is when you are watching live tv and your kids are yelling at you to fast forward through the commercials. We try to explain that we can’t because it is live tv but they just don’t understand.
I don’t even have cable because we watch Netflix. Although we watch it so much lately we’re running out of things to watch. I’ve thought about doing the mail-in part as well as the streaming. Do you do that or just the streaming?
Bahahaha – this is SO my life! So far via Netflix I have watched entire series start-to-finish of: Criminal Minds (via DVD’s) and then through steaming: entire series start-to-finish of: Ghost Whisper, Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, and am making my way through: HIMYM, Gossip Girl, Army Wives, Greys Anatomy, Dawsons Creek and so many more LOL. It is a sick, sick obsession!!!!
Is Damages good?! This is my life too! I need more series to watch with my spring break coming up next week!
Damages is so awesome! I watched the entire series back to back. I am LOL with you as my friends and I all have Netflix and we call it a obessive disorder binge. LOL Once you start on a series you have to watch all the way through. I mean really is there nothing more delicious then blocking out the world and curling up with Netflix!! Its heaven. I have just finished Breaking Bad, its so so good and so bad you will be unable to stop until your done with the series. Homeland is great , Downton Abbey, I just finished the OC , lots of streamed TV I never watched before is fun. I HATE regular TV so its prefect for me as I cannot stand commericals. Watch Lipstick Jungle, its hot guys and great clothes. I have to control my Netflix obsession and never watch during the week, only weekends. I am so bad I carry the computer into the kitchen and watch while I cook and do dishes LOl NI love Netflix and that it ruined me for tv, I turned off my cable. Luv my Netflix.
I used to have the entire series of Dawson’s Creek on VHS where I had recorded it in college from TBS! Haha.
I love my DVR. Hubby and I have started to just watch our shows after they have recorded so that we can fast-forward through the commercials.
I use blockbuster. I get two disk in a mail at a time and have added a few shows to watch while the hubby is deployed. I am looking forward to watching them after the kids go to bed this summer.
Have a good one Neely! Have a great time at Blissdom!
Gotta love watching shows on Netflix! I’ve been watching 24 and then I”m on to my sisters DVD’s of Gilmore Girls!
Oh man, Netflix Instant is the bomb. It’s how I got caught up and addicted to Bones!
Netflix is ruining us, haha. I hate not being able to fast forward or pause “real TV” too.
I love Netflix! We cancelled our cable because we stopped watching it ha ha.
I was trying to explain to the kids about writing research papers in high school without the internet. They couldn’t wrap their heads around going to a library for encyclopedias and other materials. J asked why didn’t I just google it.
In February 2007, the company delivered its billionth DVD and began to move away from its original core business model of mailing DVDs by introducing video-on-demand via the Internet. Netflix grew while DVD sales fell from 2006 to 2011.:”`”
