Follow your bliss

8 months ago I went to the Blissdom blog conference in Nashville
It took place in January which was a really difficult time personally for me
Chad and I had been broken up a little over a month and I was having a really hard time with the breakup.
In our swag bags we all got a necklace with a silver disk and a tiny pearl the disk says “Follow your bliss.” I hadn’t worn a necklace since we broke up because the one I wore was a diamond necklace he gave me for my 26th birthday.
I felt this necklace was extremely significant and poignant for me.
I thought a lot on my flight home about MY BLISS
I made a list of 30 things to do before I turned 30 and started crossing some of them off
Now that Chad and I are broken up again and I have once again replaced the diamond necklace with the Follow Your Bliss Necklace I am thinking again about my bliss….
What do I want out of life….
I want to leave Dallas. I love my family and friends here but the city itself isn’t for me anymore. Not to say I wouldn’t come back ever but It just isn’t what I want.
I have started the very very preliminary stages of looking into moving out of state.
My bliss is happiness and fulfillment and I want to be happy and fulfilled more than I am right now. Don’t get me wrong I am a very happy person! But I want to exert my independence outside of TX.
Hopefully I’ll be following my bliss out of Texas come December/Jan

Good luck with everything. I know sometimes this stuff can be really hard, but in the end, if it’s what you want, it will be totally worth it! Looking forward to hearing more about your journey!

    Pretty necklace!

I’m in the process of doing the same thing, not so much moving out of state but researching moving to where I want to be. I’m hoping by next year I’ll get there (moving in the winter is not an option here!).

Best of luck to you – you sound sound like you know what you’ve gotta do to find your bliss. 🙂

  13. Good for you! I moved far away from home for college and haven’t looked back since. I had some rough times being far away, but also some amazing times, and that’s what makes me who I am today!

And I love the concept of “Follow your bliss”!

Good for you, Neely! You should move where you want, especially while you are young and dont have to stay anywhere permanently. I love the symbolism of that necklace– good luck on finding an awesome new place!

Good for you! I think moving somewhere new on your own will be such an empowering experience! Minneapolis is a great city and it’s super cold in the winter (you could finally escape the 100 degree temps)! 🙂

After my last big break up I moved from San Antonio to Dallas so I know all about relocating stuff like that. I’m sad you will be leaving DFW, but hey, it means wherever you move to, I’ll have a place to stay when I visit, right??

    🙂

  37. I know how you feel. I was the same way when I graduated from UT back in 2001. I had lived in TN for my whole life and I just wanted to go somewhere new. And now I have been in Orlando for 10 years and I love it. I miss my family at times but it makes those trips home that much more special. Moving away was what made me finally grow up because I was officially on my own. The scariest thing was when I had to give an emergency contact. I didn’t have one in the state and that freaked me out. But that was the biggest hurdle I had to overcome. Everything else was easy!

Denver is a really awesome place. I just moved here from Orange County because I too wanted a change. It was also nice that my mom and her fiancee we moving there as well. I am not sure of the economy in Texas but it a whole lot cheaper than Southern California. Plus what can be better than a city, mountains, lots of outdoors, and so many things to do not so far outside the city!

I hope you find a great new place to move! I know it can be hard and stressful but it is much easier than it looks! I miss my friends back home and when I was here two years ago I definitely missed my family but it is amazing how fast the time goes!

A new start is always great! I hope you find your BLISS! And I really like the necklace!
