8 months ago I went to the Blissdom blog conference in Nashville
It took place in January which was a really difficult time personally for me
Chad and I had been broken up a little over a month and I was having a really hard time with the breakup.
In our swag bags we all got a necklace with a silver disk and a tiny pearl the disk says “Follow your bliss.” I hadn’t worn a necklace since we broke up because the one I wore was a diamond necklace he gave me for my 26th birthday.
I felt this necklace was extremely significant and poignant for me.
I thought a lot on my flight home about MY BLISS
I made a list of 30 things to do before I turned 30 and started crossing some of them off
Now that Chad and I are broken up again and I have once again replaced the diamond necklace with the Follow Your Bliss Necklace I am thinking again about my bliss….
What do I want out of life….
I want to leave Dallas. I love my family and friends here but the city itself isn’t for me anymore. Not to say I wouldn’t come back ever but It just isn’t what I want.
I have started the very very preliminary stages of looking into moving out of state.
My bliss is happiness and fulfillment and I want to be happy and fulfilled more than I am right now. Don’t get me wrong I am a very happy person! But I want to exert my independence outside of TX.
Hopefully I’ll be following my bliss out of Texas come December/Jan

My vote is DC. Duh.
I love your blog! Going through a break-up is never easy but you’ll bounce back in no time 🙂
Oooh, you should totally come to DC!!! 🙂
Good luck with everything. I know sometimes this stuff can be really hard, but in the end, if it’s what you want, it will be totally worth it! Looking forward to hearing more about your journey!
Jenn@ Going the Distance
I feel a like this today! I plan on moving out of my state as well, but not as soon as you. I am set to finish school in July, so hopefully shortly after that.
Sometimes a change of place/pace is for the best. Good luck with your job hunt!
I love my Bliss necklace.. it reminds me of who I can be and who I want to be. I think it’s an awesome idea to start anew somewhere else.. although, if you move out of state, who will I visit next August when I come to Dallas??!
I totally understand this. I really want to move too. Maybe not super far away, but I definitely need a change of scenery. Good luck trying to figure things out!!
so exciting for a new adventure for you. always follow your bliss 🙂 what a great necklace. maybe itll follow you to the chi 😉 xox ROOMIES!
Pretty necklace!
I’m in the process of doing the same thing, not so much moving out of state but researching moving to where I want to be. I’m hoping by next year I’ll get there (moving in the winter is not an option here!).
Best of luck to you – you sound sound like you know what you’ve gotta do to find your bliss. 🙂
Good luck with finding the new happiness you are looking for! A new city can def do that! New exciting things, places and people are waiting for you! Love the necklace girl!
I’m proud of you for following your bliss! (I like that saying a lot.) I vote DC as well. 🙂
im happy you are following your bliss; and this was probably an emotional decision; and im proud of you!
you shall move somewhere you want to move; i want to move too; xo girl; i hope you feel betters!
Good for you! I moved far away from home for college and haven’t looked back since. I had some rough times being far away, but also some amazing times, and that’s what makes me who I am today!
And I love the concept of “Follow your bliss”!
Good for you, Neely! You should move where you want, especially while you are young and dont have to stay anywhere permanently. I love the symbolism of that necklace– good luck on finding an awesome new place!
Good for you! I think moving somewhere new on your own will be such an empowering experience! Minneapolis is a great city and it’s super cold in the winter (you could finally escape the 100 degree temps)! 🙂
where are you thinking about moving to? Do what makes you happy!
Wow! good luck doll!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with these decisions! Moving after a break up is always therapeutic. I recommend San Francisco!
Sometimes a move is the best thing you could ever do for yourself!
I think a move is a great idea! I would LOVE to get out of California and move to Wyoming…and I intend to.
I wish you the best of luck, Neely!
Wow!! Very exciting time for you! Move’s are such a big transition, I learned a lot both times I moved! Good luck on starting your new journey!
I’m sorry that times have been so tough, but it seems like you have a really positive lookout. Sometimes a change of pace, including moving. I’m here for ya, girl!
I’m hoping you find exactly where you want to be and are given the opportunity go get there ASAP! 🙂
You are definitely making the right choices to follow your bliss…making life about you!! 🙂 Exactly what’s needed right now. Can’t wait to follow you on your newest adventures girl!!
I vote NY! lol. Although it’s pretty expensive here.
Good for you for not being afraid to take a risk! Best of luck with everything…I’m sure you’ll do great things in whatever city you end up in!
I think a fresh start is exactly what you may need! Follow your bliss….I like that!
I love this. My vote is don’t leave, obvs – but you gotta do what you gotta do to make yourself happy, and that’s what counts 🙂 I hope there’s a pretty necklace like that in the swag bag this year 🙂
I’m doing the same right now- follow your bliss and move to NYC! I need a roomie!
Exciting!
I wouldn’t recommend ND in Dec/Jan move, it would be a big temp change from the Dallas winters you are used to 😉
After my last big break up I moved from San Antonio to Dallas so I know all about relocating stuff like that. I’m sad you will be leaving DFW, but hey, it means wherever you move to, I’ll have a place to stay when I visit, right??
🙂

Love the list of things to do before you are 30 idea, and the necklace. You will have a good time doing the things on your list for sure.
We’re all here for you no matter what! And I can’t wait to hopefully get a swag bag of my very own this coming year…;)
Good for you! 🙂
Californiaaaaa here I coooooome! 🙂
Can’t wait to see where you end up!
I know how you feel. I was the same way when I graduated from UT back in 2001. I had lived in TN for my whole life and I just wanted to go somewhere new. And now I have been in Orlando for 10 years and I love it. I miss my family at times but it makes those trips home that much more special. Moving away was what made me finally grow up because I was officially on my own. The scariest thing was when I had to give an emergency contact. I didn’t have one in the state and that freaked me out. But that was the biggest hurdle I had to overcome. Everything else was easy!
aww pretty girl i love this!! i got out of serious relationship last year and moved halfway across the country to where i knew NO ONE and it was honestly one of the best things i’ve ever done! good luck! you’ll be great no matter where you end up!
Denver is a really awesome place. I just moved here from Orange County because I too wanted a change. It was also nice that my mom and her fiancee we moving there as well. I am not sure of the economy in Texas but it a whole lot cheaper than Southern California. Plus what can be better than a city, mountains, lots of outdoors, and so many things to do not so far outside the city!
I hope you find a great new place to move! I know it can be hard and stressful but it is much easier than it looks! I miss my friends back home and when I was here two years ago I definitely missed my family but it is amazing how fast the time goes!
A new start is always great! I hope you find your BLISS! And I really like the necklace!
I really liked this post because I am getting over someone and have been thinking “my bliss” as well. Good luck with getting over the break-up, they are never easy, but finding your bliss will be an amazing journey 🙂
I’m with Lindsey, DC for sure. 😉
Oh no! I am taking this personally 🙂 I know what you mean though. I had always wondered if maybe I was slighting myself because I had only lived in one state (although different cities.) I look forward to reading about wherever you decide to go!
this was an amazing post. thank you.
