If I was blogging about this topic over on my blog, the post would be titled “Full Circle.”
My almost nine year old daughter had two little girlfriends over the other day and my mind definitely went back in time…
The girls were dancing around singing “baby, baby, baby ohhhh”. My sisters and I used to dance around singing “Hanging Tough” and “Please Don’t Go Girl.”
Then it was New Kids on the Block with poofy hair and those nasty rat tails. We thought Jordan Knight was the cutest guy ever. Today it is Justin Bieber, who wears his hair longish and sometimes has his pants a little too low for my taste. Those little girls swoon over him!
Tiffany and Taylor Swift. Debbie Gibson and Demi Lovato. Grease and High School Musical.
I realized in that moment that I’ve come full circle. I’m watching my little girl do all of the same things I did. It’s just two decades later with different hairstyles and less poof 😉
I will gladly turn on the Biebs, dance around the living room, and sing “baby, baby, baby”.

It definitely is cute seeing the kids today swoon over boy singer/bands like we did way back when. I loved Jordan myself too!
You’re not kidding! I always laugh at how into the Biebs all the little girls, and remember what it was like at that age!
Great post, Linds! It’s SO true! Everything does come full circle!
OMG, we did it too! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Hangin’ Tough!
🙂 This really made me smile. Fun that you get to see it come full circle first hand. <3
So cute! I’m still not sure how I feel about the Bieber fever. I love watching my students and their shenanigans at school (I teach high school). I went through the EXACT same drama but now they have technology (i.e. facebook and cell phones), which makes the drama times infinity. It’s fun to watch things come full circle 🙂
Thanks for all your comments! And thanks for the sweet intro, Neels! Love you!
