Its 2 Months into 2014 and by now we are all starting to fall off those new years resolutions of staying healthy but not me! I really hope not you either!
I have always been a big believer in leading a healthy lifestyle. This is not to say I don’t love a good pizza, a bowl of mac and cheese or the occasional glass or two of wine. I mean come on guys Im human! But for the most part I live a healthy life. Here are my Healthy Life Tips:

- I get in bed before 10 almost every night. I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep(VERY IMPORTANT!)
- I start my day with a healthy breakfast that ALWAYS includes a bottle of water and fruit with oatmeal
- I get in at least one workout a day no matter for how long, I live by the “sweat once a day” mentality
- My lunch and dinner are always well rounded. Fruits, veggies, whole grains and proteins
- I snack but I try to snack smart…more on that later….
- I try to get in a second “work out” this is more like a leisurely walk. A and I love going for evening walks around our neighborhood when the weather is nice and this is a great way to wind down and unplug from technology. A two-fold win!
- I try to unplug for at least an hour a day. Reading, cleaning, writing in a journal, something. This is good for your mind which in turn is good for your body.
Healthy Snacking is a major part of keeping a healthy lifestyle. You don’t want to snack too too much because your 3 meals a day should be rounded and filling but when you snack you want them to be the right snacks. These are my favs:
- Fruit
- Green Monster Smoothies
- Cheese and Crackers
- Pistachios
And how lucky am I that I was sent 3 delicious flavors of Pistachios to try out! The salty ones were by far my favorites! Salty over sweet for life! Plus they are nutritious and so very satisfying! With pistachios you get more nuts per serving – 49 kernels per ounce, compared to 23 almonds, 14 walnut halves and 18 cashews. Plus, a reduced serving of 30 pistachios makes a satisfying, deliciously healthy snack for only 100 calories! Lets not forget the added fiber benefit and we all know what a difference that makes to what we look for when grocery shopping and what we are putting in our bodies!
Not only that but I was also sent a great workout DVD with it.
Im a busy girl working from home and not always do I get the chance to get out and head to the gym, bar method or even the trail for a run. Somedays just require a home workout and boy did this one kick my booty. I took pictures for you but honestly I looked such a hot mess I will save you the nightmares. But that should tell you how good it was that I am that afraid to share the after pics on the blog!
Valerie Walters, Valslide is sooooo good! I honestly cant wait to do it again and again and again. Plus she has worked with two of my favs: Jennifer Garner and Poppy Montgomery. What I love are the different workouts and different circuits. Its very challenging and very rewarding. Needless to say several parts of my body were begging me the next day to never to it again but my brain knew better 🙂

Sigh…I have a long way to go to transition into a healthy lifestyle. My 1st step is decreasing the number of fast food I eat each month and cooking more. I’m too overwhelmed to think of step 2 lol
