First of all today I am overcome with sadness. Not only for the families in Colorado but for my friend Greg’s family and friends. We lost a loved one 3 years ago today while he was serving our country in Afghanistan. I will never forget that phone call…sitting in Chads car on the way home from the coldplay concert on our 5th date. I burst into tears and my heart hasn’t been the same since.
RIP Greg and RIP all the people in Colorado who just wanted to enjoy a movie….what is this world coming to?

So here are some things you may not know about me:
1. From ages 5-17 I wanted to be a film director and even applied to film school. Think Dawson.
2. I love hte movies, and I probably see 75% of those that come out.
3. I see every movie nominated for an Academy Award each year.
4. I have over 500 DVDs
OK now for some film reviews:
Katy Perry: Part of Me(Now in theaters)
I went into this movie with low expectations. I mean its a movie showing a Katy Perry concert. Or so I thought. It was wonderful! From the first few minutes C and I both had huge smiles on our faces. Presumably for different reasons(he loves her in a sexual way..yep went there).
It was very enjoyable and I really didn’t want it to end. I wish they had gone more into her and Russel Brands demise but its about her not them 🙂
I highly suggest seeing this movie even if you aren’t a huge Katy Perry fan its fun to learn about all she went through to become who she is. Being raise in a devout Christian home and singing about kissing a girl and liking it is quite the 180.
Friends with Kids(Now on DVD)
OK I don’t even know how to explain how much I love this movie. I completely understand the feeling of being in a group of friends where everyone is married and most of my married friends are pregnant or have kids. I understand the feeling of thinking thats the next logical step.
The movie stars Jennifer Westfeldt(wrote, directed, stars, produces and happens to be the longtime girlfriend of John “Don Draper” Hamm), Adam Scott, Kristin Wiig, Maya Rudolph, John Hamm and the adorable cop from Bridesmaids. Fun Fact: they are all best friends IRL. They play 6 best friends 4 of which are coupled off and married the other two Westfedlt and Scott are best friends who decide to have a baby together but not get married. Hilarity and real life ensue. Its a great movie with a mix of Comedy, Drama, Romance and what happens when your life doesn’t go like you thought it would. Also what kids do to relationships when you aren’t or are ready for them.
HIGHLY SUGGEST THIS MOVIE!!! Seriously go rent it.
Dark Knight Rises(Now playing in theaters)
Yes we were the crazy people at the midnight showing of Dark Knight last night. Yes I am exhausted today. Was it worth it? Honestly had I not been as obsessed with Dark Knight as I was I probably would have seen this Friday or Saturday night. It was good, not the best movie I’ve ever seen but good. To me nothing could possibly top Heath Ledger as the Joker. It was such an amazing and chilling performance that it would have taken A LOT for me to be more impressed with DKR than DK. I dont want to give too much away but I think you’d enjoy it!
What movies have you seen lately? Any I should see?
I, too, loved “Friends With Kids.” Hits very close to home for me since I’m strongly considering going the single mom route in three years (if I’m not married by then). Also, the movie seemed very real to me. All those dysfunctional yet functional relationships. And who ever thought “I want to fuck the shit out of you” would be a romantic line? Ha ha ha.
I loved Friends with Kids. J and I went to it thinking it was going to be a comedy because of the cast, I was freaking shocked at how serious it was.
I felt the same way about Part of Me. It gave me a totally new respect for Katy Perry.
I want to see all of those!! 🙂
The last 3 movies I have seen in theatres were all great: Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Brave, and Moonrise Kingdom! Very different, but all really good.
I LOVED “Friends With Kids”, especially since Mike and I are afraid of whats going to happen when we actually DO have them! I just recently saw To Rome With Love, which was pretty fantastic, too!
Praying for you love- soo hard to lose a friend and trying to wrap your head around today’s events…hugs!
Oh, Brandon got us Friends with Kids to watch this weekend. Glad to hear it was good! And confession: although I want to dislike Katie Perry, I kinda love her story. I’m dying to see that movie! Can’t believe you got Chad to go!
Did you see the new Spiderman? it seriously became one of my favorite movies … lovedddddd it 🙂
I’m going to have to watch Friends with Kids- I’ve been wondering how it was!! Glad to hear it was good 🙂
I’ve wanted to see Friends with kids! I’ll add it to my netflix when it is added 🙂
You’ve talked me into seeing Friends with Kids – I just wish it was on Netflix!
I love it! 🙂 I never go to the movies, but I’m a huge fan of RedBox! I need to get on seeing some of my “to watch” list….
We used to watch almost every movie that premiered, but now we tend to only go see the ones we are really interested in! And, we also have over 500 DVD’s. At one time we had over 800, but we got rid of hundreds last year! I really want to see the Katy Perry movie, love her!!
I wanted to be a director, too! Obviously, that didn’t happen, and probalby for good reason. I have no attention to detail. 🙂 But I do love the movies! I would go see movies 2 or 3 times a week if A) we could afford the time and money and B) SoldierMan didn’t have “wait for Netflix-itis.”
I can’t wait to see Friends With Kids!!
I saw the Batman movie yesterday. It was awesome!
I am pathetic when it comes to seeing movies. I see maybe 2-3 in theaters. We get most new releases to DVD and I hardly watch those either. Not sure why. I love to be entertained. Stacie xo
Did you see What to Expect When Expecting??? It was one of the funniest girly movies I have seen in a while! And 21 Jump Street – definitely A+ for the man humor lol
