Summer Workouts

Oh Summer in Texas how you ruin my workouts…kidding.

This is what I’ve been up to lately with the summer workouts and dealing with 105+ degree weather

I bought a groupon a while back for Jazzercise and I took a class and LOVED it! It was so fun and different from things I’ve done and boy did I work up a sweat!

Bar Method: I love Bar Method so much and cant wait to take class in Chicago with Meghan next Friday!

Walks at night with A: We’ve been doing this almost every night going for 30-40 minute walks once the sun goes down and it cools off. Its a nice time for us to talk without the distractions of TV, phones, computers etc.

Apartment Gym: Normal treadmill, elliptical and free weights to round out my week.

Yoga: Always a good once a week trip

Swimming Laps: My favorite summer workout and I love visiting A’s parents because their pool is perfect for lap swimming

 

I try to work out at least 6 days a week for at least 50 minutes a day and this has really been helpful.

I’ve also been drinking a ton more water because its been so hot. Doesn’t hurt that I have such a cute water bottle from Lifeguard Press to drink out of  🙂 This tumbler is so amazing plus bonus it came with the cutest koozie which is perfect for that post workout poolside time!

Drink Sleeve 

Snack wise I’ve been really into granola, nuts, fruit and baby carrots during the day. I also always make a giant Green Monster Smoothie when I get home and I’ve updated my recipe.

Spinach(2-3 leafy handfuls)

Skim Milk

Strawberries

Blueberries

Apple

Carrots

Banana

Truvia

Chia Seeds

Ice

and Blend 🙂

    I wish I had access to a pool. I love swimming laps. But, I can’t afford my gym membership AND a YMCA membership. I am trying to keep up my indoors workout routine because it is too hot for me outside.

  2. The pool and walking are my two favorites but have little access to do either. I cannot imagine it being 105. We have no AC currently and our temps are in the high 80’s low 90s spending time in the bedroom where we have window units..

  5. I sometimes feel like the humid Missouri summers ruin my workouts, haha!
    I have yet to try a Bar Method class but really want to!
    This summer I have been trying to mix up my workouts by taking a break from running and trying other forms of cardio like Piloxing, cross training and barefoot Zumba.

    I have been debating adding a yoga class or maybe even trying out pole dancing (one of my friends says it is great for upper body strength). If I could convince my husband to try ballroom dancing with me I would do that in a heartbeat.
