The Possimpable

Follow on Bloglovin

If you are a how I met your mother fan you totally got my The Possimpable title. Congrats you are awesome!

So Guys I have challenged myself to something a little crazy and a little errrr lot unlike me.

I am going 60 days(2 months) without shopping. Obviously groceries, toiletries that are needed(not makeup or nail polish) and Starbucks(because lets face it I’d die) dont count. But nothing else.

Why am I doing this. Well if you read my post a couple of weeks back about being nice you will notice that I think some things need to change. I am doing this mostly for myself for a few reasons.

1. No one thinks I can do it and I love to prove people wrong
2. I have enough clothes, shoes, jewelry, purses, nail polish, makeup and everything else imaginable. Seriously ENOUGH.
3. I am proving to myself what NEEDS vs. WANTS are. “Oh I NEEEEEEED those Jeans” NO I dont have jeans.
4. I want to save more.
5. I spend too much
6. I want to shop my closet more and put outfits together I see on pinterest vs going and buying stuff

So I am blogging about this because I want to be held accountable. Everyone in my life knows about this so this will definitely be a big challenge for me.

I have made one exception and thats that gift cards dont count. I have saved some from my birthday and Christmas and sometimes when I do blog reviews/sponsored posts I am paid in gift cards so those are OK to spend. But nothing from my bank account.

I am also hoping to put the extra money towards my student loans to achieve my goal of paying them off in 5 years vs. 10.

I am hoping you will all help keep me accountable and be encouraging and I know this challenge is super silly but I really want to prove it to myself.

WISH ME LUCK!!! Also this started May 1st and ends June 30th!

So have you ever challenged yourself to something others didn’t think you could do? A run? A cooking challenge? Anything?

You can do it! I am not much of a shopper, but I think I should probably do at least a month without eating out. That is where all my extra money tends to go. Can’t wait to see all you learn in the next two months πŸ™‚

I thought about doing something similar when I saw it on Where my soul belongs blog. Maybe I’ll try it. I’ve been a spending machine lately :-/

Yes U can do it. I have done it for 2 years. No clothes, no jewelry and no shoes, scarves or clothing related items. I had way to much and gave a lot away and shop my own closet. Its great for the bank account and once you start y realize that you really do not need anything more, that consuming constantly is just pressure from society and advertising. Good for you!

  9. I wish you lots of luck. I know you can do it! I have a hard time leaving WalGreens without a new nail polish, so I just had to learn not to go in there unless I NEED something specific.

I’ve been thinking I need to do this as well but keep thinking “I just need a couple of key things for the season” or “I really need to replaced my worn-to-death flats” It’s definitely something I need to commit to though! Good for you :))

  12. Oh come on, Starbucks DOES COUNT. You must edit your challenge immediately. Buy the Starbucks beans and the cream and sugar and brew it at home. Get a $30-$40 French press from Amazon which brews it the best. It is not rocket science and you will save a TON of money. Starbucks is not a life necessity. Trust me on this!

Good for you! A dollar saved here and a dollar there will really start to add up! I think it’ll turn out to be easier than you imagine, but good luck nonetheless! πŸ™‚
