Things that annoy me: Part 1

For a while I have been wanting to write a blog and twitter pet peeves post…
Im not saying I am perfect by any means because I am not in fact I know I do things on the blog and the twit that annoy people and thats fine. I blog and tweet for me…I am ok if people dont like me or my blog and I am ok sharing my pet peeves knowing it may piss people off. With that said, I love my blog and twitter friends to death and I hope everyone doesnt think all these things are about them…

Please Please Please dont take offense to this, more likely than not if you are reading this you are not one of people people discussed as my close blog friends are not guilty of any of this….well you are Meagan but not anyone else…I kid I kid

1. I understand that I am not married, engaged, that I am not pregnant, that I do not have a child or own my own house…however this doesnt mean that I “dont understand.” 3 of my best friends have infants and I have heard enough and been around enough and have talked them through tough times enough to UNDERSTAND! I am always there for my friends even if I havent been in that exact situation. Just like the post I wrote about my sister, not everyone has had that situation but people UNDERSTOOD.
2. On the twit: Talking shit about people blatantly. OMG say it to my face or at least email it to me. Dont be lame and talk shit about people on twitter thinking they dont know you are talking about them. Its high school BS and get over yourself.
3. I agree with Mrs. Monologues on this: the hash tag enthusiast…please properly learn how to hash tag…that is all.
4. On the blog: NOREPLY emails! OMG go change your email settings now! I want to reply to your comment on my blog and I cant and it makes me sad faced. If you never get replies from me its because you arent set up to. I reply to EVERYONE!
5. That brings me to: people who dont reply EVER….hey I am guilty of not replying to every single post. But once in a while its nice to get an email back from someone saying “thanks” or “me too.” Just to show you appreciate the time I spent reading your post and commenting on it.
6. On the twit or blog: singling someone out asking them to enter your giveaway. Hey we all like free stuff and I love a good giveaway. But if I dont enter its because you are giving away something I either have or dont want or need. I dont enter because I want someone else to win! Its not a personal vendetta towards YOU! Also telling someone to come follow your blog…thats a surefire way to get me to NOT follow your blog.
7. On the twit and the blog: Shoving your political views, religion, way of life in others faces and making them feel like if they dont agree they are wrong….just dont do this. Its not nice. Some people are pro choice, tree hugging, feminist, liberals and thats ok….some people are pro life conservative sarah palin lovers…I mean Im not but some people are and THATS OK! Some of my bestest friends are Conservatives and I love them just as much as my liberal friends. My boyfriend is an Atheist and is one of the most moral, kind good people I know. So dont hate on people for not believing or thinking how you do. Its our right as Americans to have our opinions. Yes I realize free speech is also a right but standing on a soap box preaching to people makes you look like a douche.
8. On that note….post some serious stuff every now and then…it makes people remember you are human 🙂
9. The person who only posts linkups: Please please please just post about your weekend or a book you like or something. I love my Friday Linkup and I am known to do the What Im Loving or Target Tues but when your blog is a daily linkup party it makes me sad faced…I want to know about YOU!
10. This is a personal thing and as much as I love my mom blogger friends: I will probably not comment on the posts where you talk about your childs bodily functions. I love babies and kids and I realize that stuff is cute to you….but not to those of us without kids….
11. Grammar correctors: Jerks its my blog if I want to misspell or use incorrect grammar so be it. If it bothers you then dont read. I learn English at skool.
Yeah Ill stop on an odd number for now…
I have more but another time y’all another time….

  1. I completely agree with number 9! When I’m thinking about following a new blog, that’s the first thing I look for.

you literally took words out of my mouth with some of your pet peeves!! So agree with #1,#8, #9. I def should post a few more serious things considering I want to ‘vent’ a bit to all of you and really shouldn’t care if I loose followers- its my blog and I’ll do what I want right? xo

Neely, I agree 100% on everything in this post. Especially the hashtag crap, when they become part of each of your tweets somethings wrong and now they are showing up multiple times in blog posts for some people. And no-reply blog comments make me want to slam my head against the wall, I want to reply to my comments people!

I have to say, I agree with most of the stuff you say. I’ve been guilty in some respects, like direct messaging new followers on twitter, which aren’t bloggers, to check out my blog. I mean, if they are interested in the small stuff, then maybe they’ll like the big things too.

This is outstanding! I LOVE this list! I definitely was nodding my head as I read each one. Especially the one about not being able to understand just because you’re not married, engaged, a mom, etc. I almost find that sometimes, I’m condescended to, just because I’m not either of the 3. It’s too bad, because these people refuse to see that I truly DO understand!

Looking forward to the next list 🙂

I know I’m not supposed to think it’s about me, but it’s still a good idea to look at yourself and make sure you aren’t doing these things. I do have a mention of poop on next week’s Tuesday post. I’ve tried to be good about not talking about bodily functions. I’m probably guilty of only doing link ups. Kind of all I have time for. And I know you understand the kid thing. I’ve told you things I didn’t tell anyone else and you didn’t judge. Really that’s all a mom needs. When someone that doesn’t have kids asks if you’ve tried a swing or why did the dr do an episiotomy you want to scream at them yes I’ve freaking tried everything and the giant baby head had to get out my bag somehow!!!

  23. Perfect!!! I fully agree on #4. Just yesterday I wanted to respond to someone who left such a good comment and baaaammm, no-reply comment. Hate it. And I’m too lazy to go back and look for possible email mentions somewhere on that specific blog. 🙁 Makes me so sad. :((((
And yeah, people telling me, nice blog I follow you now, do you want to follow me (same goes for twitter btw) wants me to throw some bad words out sometimes. SO NOT gonna happen. 🙁
Thank you for mentioning the last part. Sure, it’s nice to see correct grammar, spelling, etc etc, but if it happens not to correct I’ll survive. We all will. At least it’s honest, and real. Proper grammar and stuff is good for when it comes to school times…not on our blog! Our blog, our rule, no?!

    Ok, done with that.

    Seriously, loved this blog post.

    xoxo

  24. I couldn’t agree with you more on many of these things. Most importantly..the no reply email drives me mad! I love chatting and replying to my commenters/blog friends..but when I am unable to, it makes me sad. I’ve tried telling my followers before..but there are still a ton of them that don’t have their accounts set up right. End rant.

I LOVE this…as a mom with a potty training toddler, I try to not post too much about my child’s bodily functions, there have been more mentions of them lately, but that’s due to the potty training stage…But some people really do go into the TMI zone too often…

#1 gets to me more outside of the blog/twitterverse. For some reason people think I’m a mom blogger on twitter (still haven’t figured this one out). But yes, just because we haven’t gone through the exact same thing you’re going through doesn’t mean we don’t get it.

  36. #10 – you may not want to read my blog today. 🙂

#5 – totally hate that. I just feel like it’s rude. When I first started blogging I didn’t know you could hit “reply” to emails but once I figured it out I try to always reply.

#8 – YES! I think maybe sometimes I post too much serious stuff but I can’t stand those bloggers that seem to be PERFECT. BLEH!

Oh my gosh, so much of this resonated with me! I get ridiculously frustrated when I see that stinking “no-reply” address. Most of the time I’m replying on my phone, and I don’t have time to go track down an email address on their actual blog, praying for an About Me page. Every so often I’ve done the “this is how to set up your email” post and I think I need to do it again. It’s not hard 🙂

I won’t go on agreeing about all the rest, but just. Yes.

A-frickin’-men. Especially about the email thing. Holy balls, all I want to do is write a quick little response, and “noreply” makes me very sad faced as well. And I totally agree about replies – I don’t expect a response to every comment I ever leave, but every once in a while it’s only polite to give a little acknowledgment to the people who populate and support your blog.
