Water Water Everywhere

Water Water Everywhere. We hear this all the time! The most common thing I hear from friends is how they want to drink more water but just can’t. I’m a huge water drinker to the point where I have more tumblers than I need and too many empty water bottles on my car floor(yes it needs to be cleaned).

I tend to use some tricks to make sure I drink enough water everyday.

Staying Hydrated

1. It sounds cheesy and odd and kind of immature but I am far more likely to drink more water when I have cute fun tumblers. I have a ton of them. They range from target purchased dollar section colorful to monogramed and Lily Pulitzer.  Most of mine are 20-25 ounces and I fill them up constantly during the day and anytime I leave.

2. First thing in the morning I have a huge tumbler full of water filled up and I drink it along side my first cup of coffee. I also try to have a tumbler full of water for every cup of coffee I drink. So 3 cups of coffee= 60-75 oz of water! This is a great way to make sure I start my day out right. Even if I have an early morning meeting out of the house I take a tumbler of water with me or a few water bottles. I also keep water bottles in my car.

3. With every meal I have at least 20-25 oz of water. So this means I am guaranteed at least 60-75 oz per day. If I am at a restaurant I almost exclusively order water, if I order an adult beverage I have a glass of water with every one I consume. 2 glasses of wine= 2 glasses of water. At home I have one as mentioned above with every cup of coffee, one with lunch, and at least one with dinner. I love spicy food and if our dinner is spicy I tend to drink more water. Win Win!

4. Part of my night time routine is to drink a glass of water then fill my tumbler up to keep by my bed side. I tend to wake up a few times during the night and love having water next to me to drink so I don’t get thirsty.

I know this sounds like I probably drink about 200 oz a day. No usually at least 100 oz thought. I think using these 4 tips really keep me drinking water and staying hydrated well without it ever feeling like a chore. I did not used to be like this but now that I am I can’t imagine not drinking tons of water.

If you feel yourself falling into that  not drinking water trap try these out and see if it helps!!

I buy the liter bottles from Sam’s and always have one next to me when I’m working. I usually grab one when I leave in the morning and just keep drinking. I also have a large sports bottle thing that I constantly refill…. It totally works!

I’ve started drinking fruit-infused water, and I know my water consumption has increased dramatically! Cucumber/lemon/mint, strawberry/lemon, blueberry/orange, and plain lemon water are my favorites.

  4. One of my fave tips is to treat myself to something bubbly – so instead of reaching for a diet coke or something, I reach for a lovely sparkling water! It’s so so awesome!

  5. OOOh my other favorite tip is to infuse some sparkling water overnight with fruits like strawberries or melons and then sip on the delicious infusions all day!

I need to try drinking a glass first thing in the morning. And I like the idea of drinking one glass with each meal, regardless of what other drink I might have as well.

  9. Since becoming pregnant and breastfeeding/pumping, I’ve become a major player in the water-drinking game. I used to only drink sweet tea but I haven’t had caffeine or sugar in over a year. Occasionally, I’ll have unsweet, decaf iced tea but I’d rather have water. And I always want it ice cold. I’m blessed with an ABUNDANT breast milk supply and I attribute some of it to the amount of water I drink on a daily basis. I, too, have several monogrammed or favorite sports team tumblers from TERVIS and I keep bottles of water in the fridge too. Every day, I refill a 20oz tumbler with ice water at least 10 times — even MORE when I’m at the gym sweating like a pig! Yes, I really drink 200 ounces (or more) of water every day. It doesn’t matter if I’m leaving the house for 10 minutes or six hours, I always take a tumbler full of ice water. I’m also producing/pumping between 50-60 ounces of breast milk. (Just call me Bessie the Milk Cow.) HOLLA!!!!!!!!

p.s. My car desperately needs a good detailing …. inside and out. (ugh)
