8.5 months to go…

1336542447222_9705842I could have done the actual math by days but I’d rather not do math right now.

Im turning 30 on my next birthday. For a long while I was scared of this fact cause 30 seemed so well….30.

I have started to embrace the 30. I mean lets face it our 20’s kind of suck. No one really takes you seriously and you have no idea what you are doing with life. So I figure 30 well 30 has to be better than the 20’s right?

I am told I look roughly 18 on a weekly basis

I figured I would make a list of things happening before my 30th birthday that are rather exciting…

1. A and I moving in together officially in October…we’ve been living together in his apartment for the past 3 months

2. My first blog conference speaking gig

3. Going to A’s best friends wedding

4. Christmas, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Valentines Day all Holidays I love to decorate for

5. Planning our 30th birthday trip(A and my birthdays are a day apart so I will turn 30 the day before he will)

I plan to abide by this rule…

SO like I said 8.5 months to go….

How did you guys handle turning 30? Was it different or just another day?

I am turning 29 in October, which means that 30 is only 14.5 months away. I am a little nervous, but I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that I am about to be in my last year of my 20s.

I just turned 30 in April, it really isn’t a crisis. I was a bit mopey until I realized I had a lot to look forward to in my 30’s! I found out there was a 2 hr meeting on my b-day at work, so I skipped work on my b-day and went on a day trip to the next state over instead! I had some strong drinks and ate a bunch of crab lol. You don’t really grow into your skin till around 30, I wish I could have the self-acceptance I have now back in my early 20’s. I am also really glad to be done with the confusion of the dating scene. A lot of my co-workers are <25, they spend a lot of time worrying about cliquey social events and drinking…lots and lots of it, none of them are settling down yet while I am settling down with my special someone. I just don't care about that stuff anymore and I got lots to look forward to: getting married soon (my fiance moved in when I was 29 too 🙂 ) and planning some international trips. I'll be done with grad school in my early 30's too! So yea, 30 is no problem. Just please don't ask me about 40's, I got 10 yrs to cry on that day lol

I turn 30 at the end of October … which means 3.5 months to go for me. I am not going to lie, I have been dreading it, but I also am told that I look younger than I am (last week at work a co-worker from another floor thought I was 19), so that is actually kind of nice 🙂

I also have been trying to focus on how much better my 30’s are going to be than my 20’s! I’m going to graduate as an RN in May, and my husband and I are going to start trying to have our first child at the beginning of 2014, as well as buy our first house in 2014. So many exciting things are happening and coming up that it’s hard to think turning 30 is going to be so bad.

As for plans, there is a tradition in my family amongst all of the cousins .. (3 before me have already turned 30). The parents, grandparents, and aunts/uncles throw the person turing 30 a HUGE surprise party. They never do it right on your birthday, either a month or so before or after, so you never know when it’s coming … but you KNOW it’s coming eventually. This I wish I could go without. I hate surprise parties, and I don’t have that many friends anyway and the ones I do almost all live out of town. I just feel like I’m going to be massively embarrassed, but hey, at least my husband and family will be there.

I loved turning 30! My sister (the best sister ever) lived in NYC at the time so we went shopping, then to a fancy 3 course dinner, and then to see Wicked on Broadway. One of the best birthday’s EVER as far as I’m concerned.

When I tell people I am 27 they seriously look at me like “why is she lying”. I love looking young, but sometimes I wish I looked just a teeny bit older. Also, yes 30s mean more respect, especially in the workforce.

You are probably going to want to poor a glass of wine on me when I say this, but I’m turning 23 in September and that’s already too close to 30 for me…ha. That said, I have very excited to turn 23, much more excited than I was even a couple of months ago. I’ll be graduating university in December and I just feel like that plus being 23 holds so much promise. The future will be bright <3

Turning 30 is no big deal. It is just another day, especially when you think that your life isn’t even half over yet, hopefully. No worries!!

My bday is 3 days before Christmas so the actual day was no biggie. I did dread it for a few years before it really happened. To avoid the dread I made and accomplished a list of 30 things to do before I turned 30. Instead of being sad and feeling old, I felt pumped. Besides 30 is basically the new 26.

I was apprehensive about turning 30. Where as turning 20 was filled with excitement, the thought of 30 filled me with dread. I would just think, “Does this make me officially old?”
But actually it ended up being no big deal and I realized 30 is just an extension of 29. Now, 31…that one was painful. Because it officially kicked off a new decade in my life. Now I just turned 35 and not too bad. It was nice to realize it’s still not (too) old. I just keep reminding myself how awesome the girls on SATC were when they celebrated their 35th birthdays.
