When I was in high school, my freshmen year I joined a new club with three of my friends. It was called The Key Club and essentially it was a community service organization. When we joined we were three of the only girls in a mostly male club. The hot senior guys were officers and to this freshmen girl it was amazing. Second semester freshmen year I became an officer and by my junior year I was President. I loved it. It was my favorite club I was in, and trust me at my high school I was pretty much involved in everything. I loved community service! The people I met, organizing fundraising events, and really just spending my weekends volunteering for the Kiwanis Dental organization, decorating for holidays at retirement homes, Habitat for Humanity, and feeding homeless families downtown. I couldn’t get enough. I was so sad when my tenure as President ended and I had to give up my gavel. What can I say, I like being in charge.
Sadly, as an adult I have not volunteered nearly as much as I should. I do volunteer, but I wish there was more time in the day, week, etc and that I was involved in an organization like I was in high school where the opportunities were just there all the time.

If you’re looking for a way to give back, Create the Good can help. Create the Good makes it easy to connect to volunteer opportunities right in your own community. Join Create the Good in their 25 Days, 25 Ways to Give campaign and encourage friends, family, coworkers, followers to do one positive action for the day. People who participate will also be entered to win one of 25 $100 gift cards or the grand prize of a trip to Smuggler’s Notch Resort in Vermont. I am so excited to start my 25 days, 25 ways to give. I plan on doing a lot of volunteering with Andrew and on my own. I also plan to pay it forward a lot this holiday season.
Learning more about Create the Good made me realize how much I missed that time in my high school years where this was such a huge part of my everyday life.
How will you Create the Good?
