With the holidays comes a lot of really fun things. You have all the hustle and bustle of Christmas, fun music, pretty lights, great food, and of course houseguests. Hosting houseguests can be fun, but it can also be stressful. You want to make sure not only you, but also your guests, are enjoying their time with you. I wanted to share 3 tips for hosting house guests that you can use to take stress away and make sure everyone has a great time!
- Talk to them ahead of time. Do they like certain foods or drinks? Do they have food allergies or pet allergies that you can help with? Do they have special needs that you should be aware of? Knowing these things in advance can take a ton of stress off of you. If you have a dog and they are allergic you can plan for your dog to stay in one part of the house or even with a friend for a few days. If they are allergic to nuts or dairy you can purchase options for them.
- Make the room inviting. This can be done in a lot of ways. Having amazing candles to burn, or diffusers with essential oils can make the room smell fresh and clean and also is very calming. I love putting fresh flowers in our guest room when I can. Having magazines for them, a few bottles of water and maybe a cute snack basket is always a hit. It makes guests feel very at home. When it comes to the actual bed they sleep on, recently I partnered with Beautyrest Brand and they sent me their Beautyrest Recharge Hybrid Mattress. We have this mattress in our guest room. This was perfect timing with the holidays coming up. It’s never been so easy to get your Beautyrest in our guest room! I know my guests will love that it helps provide pressure relief and promotes freedom of movement. The mattress also helps provide conforming back support and motion separation for undisturbed sleep. This is perfect for the stress of the holidays or really any travel stress. We also got some new cozy bedding so they feel right at home at night! I can’t wait for us to have more guests try it out!
- Plan accordingly: Do they come in town during a fun festival in your area? Take them to it! Is there a brunch place you absolutely love that they can’t get where they are from? Show them! Does your neighborhood have beautiful holiday decorations? Go on a fun drive with them and take some hot cocoa along. There are so many activities to plan when guests come in town. I love taking our guests to restaurants they may not visit otherwise or to Northpark Mall, which is gorgeous at Christmastime but even fun to go to all year round. Make sure to ask them the kinds of things they like doing but also plan out of the box activities.
Those are my 3 tips for hosting houseguests and they are really easy to implement! I hope you think of a few of them when you host houseguests this holiday season!

These are some really great tips! I love taking people to local places that they normally wouldn’t discover on their own or find in any other cities. 🙂
These are such great tips! My family always comes to visit but when my friends come to visit I forget that they aren’t family and need to treat them as guests!
That bed looks magnificent by the way

Your guest room is beautiful. We are going to be setting up a guest room after Christmas (we just moved in), so I might take some inspiration from your room.
That looks so cozy! Finding out allergies and food issues in advance is so key. We are vegetarian so it’s kind of important to know.

Great tips! I love the idea of fresh flowers, and bottles of water in their room. Also, finding out about allergies really shows that you’re thinking of their wellbeing. That mattress/bed looks very cozy.
These are great ways to make guests feel welcome! I love personal touches for my quests.
These are great ideas. Hosting guests can be so stressful. I always make sure I do a lot of planning based on their likes and dislikes to ensure that they have a nice stay and a great time.
