Helloooooo lovely blog friends!
Is everyone having a splendid morning? I sure hope so.
So as you hopefully read yesterday I just got back from 3 days in Austin with my love. WE had a blassssssst! No seriously it was a blast and a half.
have to! I fell into this trap time and time again. Both other times Chad and I went to south Texas and when we went to Chicago. I ate and ate and ate and But I bet you’ve all been in this boat: you are working out, eating right and losing weight and then you go on a trip and it all goes to h-e-double hockey sticks. Well I am here to tell you… it doesntdidnt think about what I was eating because I figured “IM on vacation and I have no control.” WRONG!
So here is how I didnt eat too much crap 🙂
1. I brought my blender: Why? So I could make green monsters and why are these good? Because you get a serving of fruit, 3 servings of veggies and a little dairy. You feel energized and good. I recommend it. I will now be traveling with a blender on every trip. Just watch me.
2. Grocery stores are everywhere: Yeah go to a city and dont see a grocery store I dare you. I double dare you! We went to whole foods and I got smoothie stuff, oatmeal, fruit, crackers, and healthy cookies. Hello breakfast, lunch and snack done 🙂 You can control your snacking by getting healthy things such as fruit leather, granola bars, fruit, baby carrots, bunny grahams and food should taste good crackers. I promise its worth it.
3. Plan: In our relationship I am the planner. I research our trips, and make our itinerary. Chad just goes with me haha. No we talk about everything but I tend to be the organized one. Hello fellow type A personalities (waves hi). If I know where we are eating, I can research online and know ahead of time what ill order. This way no surprises, no feeling like their is nothing on the menu for me. No saying “screw it” and eating whatever. No way Jose.
4. Having a boyfriend who doesnt think IM nuts helps: Chad knows how I roll. He knows I like to eat healthy, workout everyday and stay generally stay active. So he helps in anyway he can. This doesnt mean he doesnt eat what he wants. We try as much as possible to eat places where we are both happy. Plus Chad is a pretty healthy eater anyways. He loves green monsters, bunny grahams and veggie chips. This is great for me because I dont feel bad and I get to eat what makes me feel comfortable.
5. I dont deprive myself: I had pizza in Austin 3 times. Why? Because I can. I dont deprive myself something I want. But I do have small portions and try to mix it with a salad. The only time this didnt work was Sunday night when we ate dinner at ACL. It was the only thing I ate at ACL and it was a personal pepperoni pizza. To me it was my best option. It was a small pizza but filled me up and it wasnt too greasy. When we went to hula hut I had chicken fajitas on corn tortillas which arent bad for you. The worst thing I had there was queso. Queso is a rarity for me so its cool if I have it every now and then.
6. You can exercise ANYWHERE!: Umm is there a street ? You can run. Does your hotel have a gym: done and done. My 2 requirements for hotels are a fridge and a fitness center. I need to know I can work out. Saturday we did 5-6 miles around a lake which was amazing and we walked a ton this weekend. Just at ACL alone we probably walked 4 miles. Thats 10 miles! When you have someone to chat with it makes it more fun too. I love walking cities. We are going to San Francisco in March and I cant wait to try this out there.
Well I just wanted you guys to know how I did it. Im not expert this is what works for me and it may or may not work for you but just know that vacations can be fun and be healthy. But never deprive yourself something you want. Just remember: moderation is key.
Have a great day and please ask me any questions!

Great tips!
Love it. Im going to SanFran this spring too!
Wow, you stay so motivated. I’ll have to try your green monster. It doesn’t sound bad at all!
You are incredible!
So dedicated to healthy lifestyles most of us toss away (happily, might I add) at the whim of a vacation.
Good Job, Neely!
