It Starts With Coffee

OK here we go….you ready?

Friday: So I got up at 7 and was going to go for a run but decided not to. I showered, woke Chad up and we ate breakfast. Then we packed up the car and went to starbucks before our 3 hour drive to Austin.

Got to Austin a little before noon and went downtown to the original Whole Foods for lunch. Wish I had taken pics there because its awesome. I had a big salad and a small slice of whole wheat pizza and Chad had some of everything haha. Then we got some groceries for the hotel room since we requested a fridge and a microwave and we’re awesome like that. I brought my blender so I could make my green monsters we also got breakfast stuff, fruit, foods should taste good crackers, veggie chips and bunny grahams. Then we checked into our hotel and dropped off our stuff and we were right back out the door to go visit my friend Dana and baby Ella. Dana used to babysit me when I was younger and we are only 7 years apart so she is like my big sister. I tell her everything and know I can get great straight forward advice from her. Well she moved to Austin shortly after she got married a year and a half ago and just had a baby girl in July. Ella is seriously the most beautiful child EVER. We chatted and played with Ella for about 3 hours then sadly had to leave 🙁

After that we high tailed it back to our hotel room to shower, change and me make a green monster and then we headed to Hula Hut one of our fav Austin restaurants to have dinner with Ashley and my bff Erin we had such a good time eating some yummy food and having drinks and chatting with them. We were pretty tired so we called it a night early and went back to our hotel and watched a little TV before going to sleep.

Saturday we woke up around 9 and had breakfast in the room then headed out for the day!

I found out there is a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Austin so of course I had to get some. I used to go to LA about 2-3 times a year and became obsessed with Coffee Bean latte’s so I was beyond excited!

After that we headed to Town Lake and did 5-6 miles not entirely sure. We stopped a few times to take pictures because well its fun and its me so there ya go. After that we went to get lunch at another fav Austin place Home Slice Pizza. Had 2 slices of yummy pizza and a beer.

Then we walked down to Amy’s ice cream and I had half a small cup of vanilla…soooo good. Then we went to our hotel and had about 3 hours of downtime. We watched the A&M football game, and some of the Rangers game. They both lost…ugh!

So we finally got ready and of course I had a smoothie then we went to Austin City Limits for the night! ACL is a music festival for 3 days in Austin every year. That night we went specifically to see Muse. Muse is Chads favorite band. We have now seen them twice. Last October in Dallas with U2, in Chicago with Silversun Pickups and now at ACL. So yes one year…3 times. I think Chad’s good now 🙂 But the band was great and the energy in the crowd was AMAZING! I did start to feel super nauseous during the show though and went to sit down. Not sure what happened but Im guessing the crowds just got to me. After Muse the Saturday concerts were over so we headed to grab a cab and wait in the 45 minute cab line. But we met super nice people to chad with and finally made it back to the hotel. Im not sure if we were exhausted or delerious or both but we had major giggles all night when we got back and we were just being silly. We finally fell asleep around 1 AM.

Sunday morning our last day there we got up around 10 and went to grab starbucks then came back and watched NFL pre game stuff(or rather i did) and packed, showered, at breakfast, had smoothies and checked out of our hotel. Then we went to The Domain(basically an outdoor mall having every store you can think of=my happy place) to grab lunch. We settled on a place called The Steeping Room. Its a tea place with sandwiches, salads, and soups. So I got a sandwich and a side salad. Chad got a sandwich and soup. The service was awful though! After we left there we parked the car at our hotel and took a cab to ACL for the day. When we got to ACL we discovered there is a tent where they are showing the Cowboys game on 2 flatscreens…that where I spent the next 3 hours…Chad did too but I was in heaven. Flaming lips playing on one side of me…cowboys in front of me…hello heaven Im Neely I like it here 🙂

We left after an hour of the Eagles because we wanted to beat the rush out of ACL. Its a good thing we did cause we still had to wait about 15 minutes for a cab and get back to the hotel to grab the car and go. We left Austin at 10 PM and got to Dallas a little after 1. I was beyond exhausted but managed to wash my face and brush my teeth because ladies you should never go to sleep without washing your makeup and the day off your face! NEVER! no matter how tired or drunk you are.

But I couldnt fall asleep so I uploaded pics onto facebook and watched Jersey Shore…

It was hands down the best weekend ever with Chad and we had so much fun just spending 3 days away from class, homework, midterms, and Dallas in general. We needed the break. But hopefully our next trip will be more relaxing cause we didnt stop once this weekend.
