One Month till 30

So one month from today I am turning 30! Leading up to this I was very ummm not excited to 30.

As the months have gone on and A and I have planned our birthdays(they are a mere day apart) I have gotten more excited. You see 30 is a big year for me. I am getting married to the best guy I know this year. We are starting a new life together although I said the same thing when we moved in together officially and it hasn’t changed much. I am imagining that getting married wont change us very much.

But turning 30 doesn’t seem so scary anymore.

My 20’s were full of fun times but tough times too. I went through so many hard life decisions, trials and tribulations in my 20’s and I am ready to leave this decade behind and move on to the next.

I am so glad to have my blog to document half of my 20’s and be able to look back on them and probably cringe.

We didn’t technically celebrate our 29th birthdays with friends or family because we decided to take a trip to San Diego instead.

A little 29th birthday flashback:

29thbirthdayWe spent the day at the San Diego zoo 🙂

So whats on the docket for turning 30? A’s parents will be in town the weekend before so we are doing a big dinner with our families. On my 30th birthday Conan Obrien is in town broadcasting his show and we are trying to get tickets to go. My birthday falls on a Thursday …bleh. That Saturday night we are doing a huge birthday dinner with all of our close friends in Dallas.

Im sure on my actual birthday I will spend a lot of it working cause well its a Thursday 🙂

So yes this post was pretty rambly(sure its a word!) and a lot of it was really just so I remember how I was feeling about this particular milestone.

But I am curious….

How were you feeling approaching your 30th birthday?

On on my 30th I had a great career, home I loved and married to the love of my life. I was fit and enjoying life every day. The following day my husband left me for a young girl with a trust fund. I remember everything falling apart and year 30 was horrible. I had to move out right away and was homeless, had to leave my animals behind and was so upset I lost my job. 30 was the worse year for me because I was rejected , alone and broke.

I turn 30 in July and honestly I haven’t really decided how I feel about it. Maybe I haven’t processed it yet. We’ll see as it gets closer and closer…

That sounds like a fun 30th! I’m Turing 26 next week, and I was just thinking about making a list of things to do before I turn 30. Every year goes so fast and I want to make the most of it–fewer netflix binges and more living!

Turning 30 isn’t bad. I had a party thrown for me, which was fun and it showed me who was really here for me for life changing events. Its after 30 that really starts to make you think about things in life, where your life is going and everything in between.

I still have a few years to go, but the countdown is definitely on. Very few birthday’s have really affected me, but that is why I’m afraid 30 will. Hopefully it will be a big blast, like yours will, and we’ll kick the decade off right.

    Happy almost birthday!

  10. I turn 30 this year too.. in June. I have mixed feelings. I am ready to leave the trials and tribulations of the 20s behind, but I also get caught up in the “where I should be” traps. I hope to let that go and embrace 30, because only I can make it KICK-ASS for myself and that I plan to do.

So…. I turn thirty in 208 days! I went through A LOT the past couple of years… my birthday this year is my… ‘get myself together and well on the way to the person I want to be’ mile-marker. The link I attached is my 30 before 30 (and 31) post! All the things I hope to accomplish and do and become over the next 208 and 573 days 🙂
I guess that means to me that turning 30 will be freaking awesome if I can accomplish most of these (or even if I only can accomplish a few, I still have a really good start and am really proud of myself already!!!)
