Addicted

Now I have spoken about addiction before on my blog several times and what I think about it etc. Those topics are always heavy and hard for me to write. But I wanted today to write about addiction in a lighter way….

So here are a few things I am addicted to and when I say addicted I don’t mean jokingly….

Coffee: Have you ever tried to quit caffeine? That shiz is hard! I tried to quit once in grad school because I was getting constant stomach pains and honestly it was like having the flu for a week. Also I did research and according to my research and a Dr. I talked to getting off caffeine is harder than getting off heroin and has many of the same symptoms of detox. So here I sit…just addicted to coffee. To be more specific nonfat lattes. But lets be real….aren’t we all kind of addicted to caffeine?

1450060_951049329307_2007625004_nFox Mug for the win!

Netflix shows or anything that is a marathon: I don’t really know how to watch TV in a normal way anymore. By normal I mean one episode at a time. It just doesn’t do it for me like binge watching 20 episodes in 2 days does. A really likes Survivor but he didn’t start watching it till last season with me so now we are re-watching old seasons. Only takes us about a day to watch a season. Then there’s House of Cards which I watched completely in less than a week. So tell me here…do you have a Netflix problem?

Seeing things online and buying them: Not online shopping no no no…seeing things on Instagram, pinterest, etc and just feeling like “oh yes I need that too!” I think this one is pretty self explanatory. But lets be real here guys…do you have a problem with this? Do you buy things you see online? It’s OK it’s just between us ….

So let’s talk about it guys. Tell me an addiction you have?

I feel you on the caffeine! I also have a problem with audiobooks! I hardly ever eat junk food (like chips or whatever) but if I do, I want a ton and I find myself craving it all day or for days. That’s why I have to stay away!

  4. Never have gotten into the coffee loving, but I will drink ginger ale all day if someone would keep buying it for me! Plus cookies. That’s my first true love. 🙂

I am definitely addicted to coffee, as much as I hate to admit it. I would say I am addicted to my phone, I swear I can’t go anywhere without it.

The caffeine and endless Netflix watching are both very real addictions for me! I must have a latte in the morning, and I can’t just watch 1 episode of a show.

  7. Definitely agree with you on the Pinterest thing. I am having to budget for it now so I don’t go overboard. And I do have an addiction to hot tea, but now I am having to fix my iron levels and apparently too much tannins from tea can interfere with iron absorption. Eek! So I went from 6 cups per day (maybe more, maybe less) to 1 1/2 cups per day this past week. Probably better for me overall, but I LOVE tea and drinking something hot throughout the day relaxes me.

  9. Coffee addiction is so real. I’m personally a fan of black coffee in the morning, cappuccino in the afternoon and a latte in the evening. Also, when it comes to online shopping my main vice is Etsy. I could spend hours on there!

I’m drinking out of that same mug right now! Quitting coffee would be anything but fun, I’m sure! I definitely get sucked into tv show marathons, but if I watch too many episodes in a row I get bored by the end, so I really try and limit the number of episodes I watch…to like 5 or 6 at a time. LOL, which doesn’t sound like much of a limit 🙂

Oh my goodness I binge watch all the time. In October I cut cable so now I rely on Hulu Plus and Netflix, which really just feeds into my binge watching. Especially when I’m sick, that’s all I do, I swear!

This is such an appropriate post for me right now. I just cancelled my Netflix subscription when I realized how much series I watched over the winter. It had to go. After all winter of series after series and a 6 pound weight gain I went cold turkey. Now I am getting more sleep and doing more in the evenings. I feel so much better and my head is not clogged with all that series episode crap I was watching. Once you give it up it helps you sleep better. I do not use caffeine of any kind so I do not have the coffee issue. I also gave up Pinterest entirely! It is such a huge time waster and I am on a strict self enforced budget so it was to tempting and depressing to see all the things I cannot afford. I do not miss it. Again getting much more done after opt out of Pinterest. I do have a addiction to technology, so I limit my social networking to less then 30 minutes a day only total but am in a serious love affair with my smart phone , Instagram and my kindle. I sleep with my phone and kindle next to me.! Seriously that is bad. I need to put them in the freezer at night and get over it LOL

I’m addicted to books. I have so many books I own I haven’t read yet because I keep seeing other books I want to purchase or rent from the library. So I just kind of overwhelm myself a bit. lol Here I am with about ten books I have purchased and have not read yet because I can’t keep myself away from the library. 😉 But isn’t it a healthy addiction? If there is a healthy addiction at all?? lol

Instagram caused me to almost go broke! Every time I saw something someone had posted I would run out and buy it, thankfully I have been able to break that addiction and at least spend a day or 2 thinking about if I really need it.

  22. I don’t drink coffee or tea, so no addiction there. I also have Netflix but I barely have time to watch it. I spend too much time on my computer writing, reading, surfing. So I guess you could say my laptop is my addiction. Oh, and chocolate too. 🙂
