Andrew and I love to spend time together doing things we both enjoy. One of those things is cooking together. We also love healthy eating and it’s a very important part of our lives.  So when we can combine all of that we are happy campers. We especially like to have a really great healthy dinner on Sunday nights to start our week. We try to do something where we can have leftovers for Andrew to take to work for lunch and for me to have at home for lunch the next day. One thing we both hate is scouring the kitchen for all the ingredients before we get started. We know we have things like flour, breadcrumbs, etc but where are they? Then there is all the measuring, chopping etc. So when given the opportunity to try out Blue Apron we were so excited! If you want to try the AMAZING Blue Apron yourself? First 100 readers will get two meals of their first Blue Apron order free! Just click here YAY!

Have you heard of Blue Apron? Blue Apron is a great way for you to cook amazing, delicious meals at home that will beat any restaurant. Blue Apron will deliver all of the healthy, fresh ingredients right to your doorstep! No muss no fuss! So that problem of hunting around for ingredients and making sure you have the right amount of everything is off your shoulders.  They offer two types of plans, the 2-Person Plan and Family Plan. We chose the family plan because its a great opportunity for a couple to have leftovers. I highly suggest this if you take your lunch to work! The price for this plan is $8.74 per meal, or $69.92 per eight serving delivery. Shipping is always free. There is a 2 person plan as well so make sure to check that out!

Blue Apron recipes are delivered in a refrigerated box so ingredients will stay fresh even if you’re not at home when your package arrives. This is also great if like us maybe you live in an apt where your packages go to a leasing office or your items arrive while you are out of the house. No need to stress about being home. You can come home from work with your dinner sitting there ready to be cooked! Blue Apron offers a large selection of recipes and is always adding new dishes to their menu every week, so if you are a picky eater like I am you will still find things you love!  Blue Apron is available nationwide, shipping to over 80% of the country (full map of delivery zones can be found here).

Some of my favorite things to note about Blue Apron are that there is no huge commitment. Like most subscriptions you can cancel or skip at anytime. You also get free shipping and who doesn’t love that!!! You can Find high quality kitchenware and products in the Blue Apron market. I love the fact that no meals go over 700 calories per person! Perfect to fill you up but not over do it! All of the ingredients are fresh and each meal is easy peasy 40 minutes or less!

So would you like to see the great process of a Blue Apron cooked meal? We chose Chicken Scallopini for our first meal(which will NOT be our last) and of course we loved cooking it together.

You can find the exact recipe here

As you can see the ingredients come already for you so you don’t have to worry about measuring or wasting.

The process was very fun! It involved first making sure the broccoli was ready to go in the oven

Then it was time to start prepping the lemon zest for the finished broccoli and toasting the breadcrumbs as well as cooking the pasta.

Next up was cooking the chicken

Then were the final steps, taking the broccoli out of the oven, adding the lemon zest, mixing the pasta with cheese, garlic and butter, adding butter to the chicken and putting everything together.

Doesn’t the final product look amazing?

The entire thing took us about 35 minutes which is great! Especially on a week night. Who wants to spend hours making a gourmet meal? You can spend 35 minutes and have something delicious, healthy and better than any restaurant!

The next few recipes we plan on trying are Whole Wheat Spaghetti and Meatballs and Chinese 5 Spice Shrimp! Both sound amazing!

  8. OK, that chicken scallopini looks amazing!!! Considering my fiance and I regularly forget one ingredient or another when at the grocery store (always requiring more trips out), Blue Apron would literally be perfect for us.

  17. This is such a GREAT idea. I am going to think seriously about this. I love cooking and we are on a strict budget, half the time the cost of the ingredients is SO much and then we only use half of it (like a speciality cheese or herb or something) and the rest goes bad. Awesome find.
