When Dawsons Creek premiered I was half way through 8th grade(some of you loyals may remember it premiered in January of 1998) yep I remember that.
I fell in love with the show immediately I specifically at first identified with Joey. In “love” with the boy who is in love with someone else, kind of gawky, awkward and tom boyish. Oh how we all at first loved Dawson I mean who wouldnt right? I also kind of identified with him as I was a bit of a dreamer and obsessed with movies.
Then as the show went on we all(mostly) turned our love to Pacey. We saw him help Andie through her mental issues(anyone remember her seeing her dead brother?). We saw him fall in love with Joey and all of us girls cohesively sighed.
Then we saw them sail away together on the true love.
Thats also when we saw this…

Then we saw maybe the most horrific prom break up that could possibly happen and all of us girls were like…..WTF Pacey Witter?

Then they went to college, things got weird. Dawson lost his virginity to Jen and we were like ummm yeah thats odd…or as Audrey said…

Then finally the show ended and it was all Pacey or Dawson??? Cause we knew we KNEW she had to pick one…I mean they killed of Jen(Spoiler Alert) so it was all back to the 3 of then..Pacey or Dawson Pacey or Dawson…
We all knew who it would be…
Yep Pacey…cause really we would have had to shoot ourselves if Joey ended up with Dawson…
I know you Dawson Fans are yelling at me and I have to say…
You know her life would have been boring with Dawson. Pacey is exciting. Thats why Brenda and Kelly both chose Dylan, Felicity chose Ben, Buffy chose Angel(right? I didnt watch buffy) etc etc etc
We choose the bad boy thats because we want a little spice out of life.
Dont worry they all have a heart of gold…. see all above examples..
OK my point to this is 1. Dawsons Creek is on Netflix so Ive rewatched it 6,000 times and I own the DVD set and 2. As I rewatch it I have many of the thoughts I had the first time aside from the fact that their clothes were hideous and no parent would just let their kids ride around on a boat on a creepy as creek at night. At least not mine.
Also I realized that as I sit here 29 years old writing this post I am still far too obsessed with Dawsons Creek.
But it taught us many a valuable life lesson:
1. Your future is bright and all of your friends will go to college in the same city so dont worry!
2. NO one really needs parents as half these kids raised themselves
3. When all else fails…just blame it on Spielberg

Pacey all the way. I didn’t watch the show when it was on. I was a Rebel but I have since watched it since it is on Netflix and from Day 1 I was rooting for Pacey. His charm and sweet but bad boy ways win me over almost any day of the week!

Pacey, of course. I haven’t seen this show in forever, but it’s one I’d definitely like to see from start to finish again. Unfortunately it’s not on Canadian Netflix so I’ll have to work on it later.
Pacey of course, I still think Joshua Jackson is H-O-T! Dawson’s Creek was the shit, my sister and I did a studio tour in Wilmington, NC before the show went off air it was awesome for sure.

You were right– I love this post!! I started watching near the end then went back and watched the whole thing on syndication, so I loved Pacey from the start. And I still do. Oh Pacey, how I love thee. Now I need to start watching this show again!!

I love love love Dawsons Creek and can never get to tired of it. I would watch it forever. I thought she would end up with Dawson and was blown away when it was Pacey but that was so right and made so much more sense.
So, yeah. I am super old because this show started when I was a senior in high school. And, I remember BAWLING like a baby during the final episode:) I am with you = PACEY all the way!

It is the original Edward or Jacob. Jacob/Pacey of course. Although, with Buffy, I choose Spike. But that just supports your theory more. Watch Buffy. It is special.

PACEY 4EVA!!!! I seriously disliked Dawson – he was just so whiny & pathetic. Pacey is (was?) totally my type. I didn’t watch the series when it was on originally, but at some point in the 10th grade, TBS started playing 2 back to back (or was it 4?) episodes every morning and you better believe I spent that entire summer becoming deeply emotionally invested in this series! LOL

How is this even a question? DAWSON!!!! It wasn’t Pacey’s Creek. She was in love with them both, but Dawson was her best friend. Who doesn’t want to end up with their best friend? I will forever be bitter that Joey didn’t end up with Dawson. 29 too and still remember sitting at home freshman year of high school (grounded, womp womp) on a Saturday night and catching the pilot and thinking it just defined my life. I used to watch the reruns on TBS in college, then rewatched them all on Netflix about a year ago! LOVE LOVE LOVE me some DC!

I related to Joey too since I was in love with the kid I grew up with. Same story and I felt so bad for her. I wasn’t a Dawson fan though…Pacey was always my choice. 🙂

I did not Watch this show growing up. I couldn’t get into it for whatever reason in the first season. (I think it was because Dawson was annoying to me). I didn’t like the love triangle of Joey/Dawson/Jen. Then in like season 4 I was skimming through the channels one day, and saw Joey and Pacey were together and was shocked because in the beginning of the show they made it seem like it was going to be all about Dawson and Joey. I STILL didn’t end up watching it, although I was intrigued that they made Joey and Pacey get together, I figured it was only going to be brief, because it was a show based around Dawson after all, and ultimately it end up going back to Dawson and Joey. I should have watched it back then, because fast forward 14 years later. I was bored one morning, and caught reruns on TV, and I was just curious to see how Joey and pacey ended up getting together, and what led to it. I watched from the beginning, all the way to the end, and I became OBSESSED with pacey and him and Joeys relationship. The character, is just so intriguing to me, and the way Joshua Jackson plays him is brilliant. He is so smart, sexy and funny, everything you want in a guy. I’m so glad they made him and Joey end up together in the end, Dawson was so unattractive to me! Not to mention his personality was obnoxious and whiny. Everytime he kissed Joey or anyone, I cringed. As soon as pacey came on screen however, he made me melt. Not just his looks, but he had such a way about him, the way he talked, the way he presented himself, was so much more appealing to me, then Dawson.
