Makeup tips for busy women

 

So many women are juggling a career, children, hobbies, friends, the list can seem endless and while I do admire beautiful makeup looks I don’t really always have the time to recreate them. Of course I want to go to work looking impossibly fresh and not like I have just rolled out of bed but time is not on my side. I have a few makeup tricks that help to speed things up and mean that I can get the look I want without wasting time I don’t have.

 

• First things first, after your morning cleansing routine – moisturise. Sounds simple enough, we all do it but what we don’t do is allow it to sink in before applying our makeup. Probably because we’re in a rush right? Well make it one of the first things that you do in the morning as your moisturiser really needs around 15-20 minutes to completely sink in. I apply my moisturiser and then I go have my breakfast, do my hair whatever it is you have to get done in a morning and come back when it’s done its job and I can get on with my makeup.

 

• Secondly apply a primer. This doesn’t need time to sink in and so won’t slow you down but it will make sure your makeup stays firmly in place all day meaning that you don’t need to do too many touch ups. Be sure to choose a primer that’s right for your skin type and you can’t go wrong.

 

• Be sure to buy products that can double up for you. Lipsticks can be used as blusher, bronzers can be used as eye shadow and some foundations even work as concealers. Not only will this save you money when buying makeup it will also save you time as you won’t be routing around in your bag for lots of different products.

 

• Make sure you are using the right tools to apply your makeup as this can really speed things up for you. Are you quickest using your fingers, a brush or a sponge? Whichever is best for you make sure that is what you use as struggling with the wrong sort of tool is something we just have no time for.

 

• Use a waterproof mascara with a curved wand, this eliminates the need for you to curl your eyelashes and won’t need touching up. Two birds. One stone.

 

• Choose a coloured lip gloss, this way you can skip any time consuming lip liner and still have a great natural look for the day.

 

• If you really don’t have the time on a morning but want to look your best for dinner or a meeting invest in pressed powders rather than loose ones. That way if you don’t have time you can just throw it in your handbag and apply a little later on when you do have time.

 

• Lastly get organised. Put together a little bag of makeup and tester sized pots that can be kept in your handbag, that way you won’t be searching for anything in the morning and you can just go knowing all of your essentials are already with you.
