Mornings can be a mess if you let them. Waking up late, rushing around, not planning ahead can all contribute to a messy morning. How to have a productive morning? I’m going to tell you! These tips work for both people working from home or for themselves and people working outside of the home.

Tip 1: Plan Ahead: Each night I make my to do list for the next day. I write down all things that have to be done first, then all things that I would love to get done if I have time. I include any errands to run, blog posts to write, Dr. appts etc. I also plan ahead with my breakfast making sure I have exactly what I want on hand(more on that below). I run my dishwasher at night so I can empty it in the morning and make sure all thing around my house are put away so that I can start my day off productive.
Tip 2: Multitask your breakfast: When I grab breakfast which as of late has been Plenti Oatmeal meets Greek Yogurt(it combines my two fav things) I also take my planner and laptop and sit at our kitchen island while I eat. While I am eating I go through emails, share my daily blog post, schedule out my tweets for the day etc. I think this is a great thing to do because you are getting two necessary things done at once. Eating a good breakfast and making yourself feel productive first thing. Some of the things I love about Plenti are that Plenti is taking oatmeal to a new level by combining it with Greek yogurt, giving the goodness of both in one convenient, ready-to-eat container. It’s only 170-180 calories per cup and comes in amazing flavors such as apple cinnamon, maple brown sugar, peach, blueberry, strawberry and vanilla. There really is something for everyone! Plenti Oatmeal Meets Greek Yogurt is both hearty and healthy, making it the perfect addition to any morning routine. You can see why I love it so much! Also if you are wanting to try Plenti here is a great Plenti coupon for you!!!

Tip 3: Do things the night before: The night before I also lay out clothes for the next morning, make sure my medicine I take in the mornings is out, and that my water for the gym is ready to go! This is helpful with my morning running smooth and not having to stop and figure out where my gym socks are.
Tip 4: Attack! Now that you have seen all my tips you are ready to attack your mornings. You have your to do list, you have multi tasked your breakfast and you have everything you need ready to go!

My best productive morning tip is to wake up early. When I get up at 4 am to go teach fitness and yoga at my studio, I am automatically up and ready to attack my day immediately after the class is done! Now I’m not saying you have to get up THAT early, but even getting up at 6-6:30 am would make for a more productive morning that 8 am!
Great advice to plan ahead the night before. I usually set out everything I need so there’s no wasting 10 minutes trying to figure out what to wear etc. Those oatmeal/yogurts look great!
That oatmeal sounds right up my alley! I like to make overnight oats with oatmeal and yogurt. I also agree with you on planning and laying things out the night before. When I was working full-time, I would make and pack my lunch the night before, and sometimes I pick out my outfit the night before, too.
Oatmeal is a great way to start your morning. I’m ready to attack this morning.
This is great! I really need to start planning the night before to accomplish more the next day. This was inspirational, thanks 🙂
Great tips! I’m multitasking with my breakfast right now 🙂
I agree 100% with planning ahead the night before. Most of my productive days start the night before actually! If I don’t get enough sleep, I’m groggy and have a very hard time starting my day.
Mornings are rough for me, but I do always prioritized good breakfast!
Good tips and an interesting product! I haven’t seen it sold by me, but jealous of the lucky winner… ;P
I think routine is key – something I (unfortunately) don’t have! ARGH
I love these tips! If I don’t plan ahead, I feel like my whole morning is wasted because I spent the whole time trying to figure out what to do first. I haven’t seen that yogurt yet, but I’ll have to go look for it now. It sounds really tasty!
Totally agree about planning your morning! I also bought these yogurts last week when I saw them in the store to try and I’m OBSESSED! They’re SO good.
This post is awesome. I’ve really been trying to fix my morning routine to help my days be more productive.
This week I made the decision to wake up with my husband at 5am (when he normally gets up to get ready for work). It has been a blessing! I make us both green smoothies, and he kisses me goodbye. I then have an additional hour to do what I please before I have to get ready to be at work. It is a little change, and it may not seem like much to others. However, it puts me in a great mood for the day!

I always get things ready to the night before too. Not only does it help as I get going in the morning, I feel less frazzled when I do.
I love the idea of multitasking your breakfast. I think most of us do that with TV but there are way more productive ways to do it… And I love that you plan your planner day around breakfast. I’m going to give that a try.
Yes to all of these!
xoxo, Jenny
My favorite way to eat breakfast during the week is to work on some blog odds and ends. I’m actually eating yogurt and granola right now!
Doing things the night before is such a good tip! JW wrote about her morning routine on the blog a couple of weeks ago! http://emma-and-jw.com/how-to-create-a-lasting-morning-routine/ And that yogurt looks so delicious and right up my alley! I’ll have to try it out. 🙂
I always multitask my breakfasts. Even with kids it helps me to not each as much and slowly get a start to the day.
I REALLY need to stop hitting snooze. I always prep my coffee the night before but I notice my mornings are more successful if I also prep my outfits. Maybe if I had a better breakfast plan, I’d get out of bed faster!
I always multitask in the morning, I eat and work on my computer at the same time! Those Plenti things sound delicious!! Greek Yogurt and oatmeal are my two favourite breakfast foods!
We leave at 6 am every morning and I STILL can’t manage to pack my gym bag/work clothes the night before. I REALLY need to try!
Love your nails!
I’m the kind of girl who sleeps in till the last possible minute so I’ll take any tips I can get on being productive in the mornings!
I haven’t had a productive morning since becoming a mother! Ha. But seriously, the best thing I do is wake up before my daughter and eat breakfast and prepare for the day! I also agree with picking up the night before. I always clean the kitchen and run the dishwasher and make sure all the toys are put away. Then we can work on messing it up all day 🙂
That breakfast oatmeal sounds really good! I make sure everything is laid out and ready to go the night before so I don’t feel like I am rushing to get things together. I also make sure to have the kitchen cleaned up at night.
Multitasking is the way to go to get anything done. I like how they are combining yogurt and oatmeal.
These are great tips! I learned when my little guy started school to definitely plan ahead the night before!
You’ve already blogged at length about the only tip I have for a productive morning. I do as much as possible each evening before going to bed so I don’t have to think about much or do too much when I wake up the next day. I guess a better tip would be to wake up a half hour earlier than you think you need to, so you have extra time to do things in the morning.
I love Greek yogurt! My husband, not so much, oh well. 🙂 I am a big list maker, they help my days run so much smoother!
