Tonight is the night I have been dreading. How I Met Your Mother is ending. I am very very sad …OK that’s an understatement ….I feel like this….
I started watching the show the day it aired on CBS in 2005. A lot of people found it in reruns or on Netflix but I am proud to say I have been a loyal watcher since day one. 9 years later and I still love the show. I feel like I’ve really grown up with this show as an adult. Watching them get married, have kids, go through job issues, life issues its all the things you go through in your 20’s and early 30’s and I’ve gone through it too. It’s made watching the show so much more fun and relatable.
I am going to list for you in no order my 10 favorite episodes which let me tell you was tough to do
Again no order….
1. Swarley: I mean really how can we not love the episode where Swarley AKA Swarles Barkley is invented as well as the episode Marshal and Lilly get back together.
2. How Your Mother Met Me: Just all the feels.
3. Slap Bet: Robin Sparkles, The start of all the slaps…just so much in one episode.
4. Sandcastles in the Sand: Another Robin Sparkles episode and her and Barney get it on…to say I was shocked when that happened also a huge understatement. Also JAMES VAN DER BEEK! I mean come on….
5. The Final Page Part 2: The Robin is the final page of the Playbook because he didn’t need it anymore….again so many feels.
6. How I Met Everyone Else: I love the episode where you find out exactly how Ted met each of his friends. I love all of the college flashbacks really.
7. Intervention: I love that they had Intervention signs. I mean this is the episode where you are just like “I want to hang out with these people.”
8. Spoiler Alert: I love the glass breaking and to this day I still do that when I realize something about someone.
9. Showdown: Where Barney trains for and goes on The Price is Right because he thinks Bob Barker is his dad…hahah classic.
10. Pilot: I just love the pilot I love the end “And thats how I met ….your aunt Robin” And so it began…
Also as a blogger…this from the pilot
Honorable Mentions of episodes I still love: Twin Beds, Bad News, Girls vs. Suits, Subway Wars, The Bracket, Drumroll, Something New, Murtaugh, Trilogy Time, The Time Travelers, Gary Blauman, First Time In New York, Rally
I will be sobbing all the way through the finale tonight you can Slap Bet on that and I hope you tweet it live with me @Neelykins
Will you be watching? What are your favorite episodes?

We’ve been watching since day one too. My family still uses the “is this going in your blog?!” variation on that episode. Slap bets are the best!
I am seriously so depressed that this is ending. I will be crying with you.
I’ll totally admit to having cried after the past few episodes. When Ted and The Mother went on their first date, I was sobbing tears of joy. I’m fully prepared for an emotional meltdown tonight.
I will be crying tonithy!!
Swarley is my all-time favorite episode, but not for the reasons you mentioned! My absolute FAVORITE part of the entire episode is when Lily is following Marshall’s date and she looks like a hunchback monster. I laughed so hard I cried. Like really hard. Amazing.
I’m really interested to see how they end it. Rumor is, all questions will be answered…
I have to admit I just started watching this like a month ago and was trying ever so hard to get caught up to the end… but I’m still only on season 2! The Swarely episode has definitely been one of my favorites so far.
I’ve had a few tears in the last episodes, so I’m sure tonight’s won’t be any different.
I can’t wait to see how they tie up all the loose ends and finish everything up, but I am so, so sad it’s ending. My husband and I use so many quotes from this show on a daily basis–from “No-can-doosville, Babydoll” to “Lawyered!” and everything in between. And ever since the Intervention episode I’ve been wanting to find excuses to have interventions with my friends. I don’t think I could pick a favorite episode, or even 10. They’re just all so good.
I’ve been watching it since “The Duel” aired, and so that’s always been a favorite. I will admit that I like the show less than I did before. I just find it’s gotten a little too cheesy and exaggerated at times, which made me want to give up on some of the newer episodes but I need to see Ted find his happily ever after. He’s like family :p I’ll always love the show and watch it over and over.
I have watched it on and off for years but I am always sad when a show is over…
I’m so sad it’s ending! I”m gonna be a disaster. I’ve already told my family they aren’t allowed to talk to me while the show is on tonight.
I admit that we started watching about 1/2 way thru the show. I hate getting attached to shows because they always end up canceling them so it’s rare for me to watch one from the beginning. I still can’t believe it’s over tho. My favorite episode is definitely Glitter. That one gets me every time!
OK, I totally need to start watching this show!!
Love that show! However we didn’t actually get into it until some point a year or two ago on Netflix, we haven’t had cable in like 5 years now. I guess it’s not always a bad thing though, sometimes it’s tragic since you can’t really be in the loop with a bunch of shows but you can binge watch multiple seasons of older shows so that’s always good 😉
You know I watch this since we spoke about the HORRIFIC ending last night, but yea I started watching thanks to reruns I think and then I started watching on CBS. Or maybe I just watched on CBS and then watched the entire beginning on Netflix. Hard to remember. Still very very very very very upset. No amount of Let’s Go To The Mall will help me.
I literally cried during The Final Page part 2!! I thought THe Robin was the absolute sweetest thing and obviously I still struggle with separating HIMYM from real life! lol
