My Thoughts on Valentines Day and a little blogger TLC

So I have dated guys that go all out for Valentines Day. Even my high school boyfriend. But the more I sat in crowded restaurants in new pink or red dresses and stared at roses for days on end the more I started to realize that it wasn’t what I wanted.

This year A and I set our own rules. A $40 spending limit each, to buy each other meaningful gifts or funny gifts. He is cooking us dinner while I am making us desert. We are watching a movie, enjoying a bottle of wine and spending the night alone together. Not in some stuffy restaurant, not with Roses(which I despise) sitting in a vase dying(I have other flower preferences). Nope just us. In A’s apartment enjoying our first very special Valentines Day together. Enjoying each other. That’s what it should be about right? Not gifts, or a fancy restaurant. It’s a hallmark holiday meant to celebrate your love. So thats what we are doing celebrating our love.

Note: I am not knocking anyone who prefers fancy dinners or roses or extravagant gifts I’ve been there and I thought thats what I wanted. Like I said in a previous post things are just different with A. Things I thought I wanted, needed, expected for certain Holidays, birthdays etc are different. I have changed. My views have changed. Not because of his views which did not come out until I said that this is how I wanted to spend Valentines Day but because all I want is him. All I need on Valentines Day or any day is his love and him next to me. Tory Burch shoes and lululemon are great(flashback to last year). But being with someone who you truly love and appreciate. Thats the greatest gift ever.

Please I hope no one takes offense to this post at all! I am not trying to hurt anyones feelings or knock what other people want to do. This is just me and my opinion and how I want things for myself.

With us trying to pay for our wedding coming up this year, we will also have an inexpensive laid back evening. I did tell him that if he happens to stumble upon some tulips that would be ok too. 🙂

Sounds like a great VDay! I have no desire to go to a restaurant on one of the busiest nights of the year, so our night will be pretty low-key too. Just us at home together. Perfection. 🙂

My husband and I have been together for over a decade [omg, why do I keep reminding myself I am getting older!] and we hardly ever celebrate Valentine’s Day. Every few years, he’ll surprise me with flowers or get some candy – but I don’t expect it and that just makes those times so much more special.
Odds are we’ll just end up sitting at home, drinking a cold one while we watch a movie with our little one. Typical night for us.
I hope you two enjoy your evening!

Also, the No Scrubs video turned out freaking awesome. Everyone did such an awesome job of getting into it.

A night in is def. much better, usually less stressful, and definitely less crowded.
I’m buying a few things for my hubs, but we’re staying in and I’m cooking him (and everyone else) supper.
